Ok people... this is confusing. What exactly is East Sarajevo? Is it a part of Sarajevo or is it a different city. If it is a different city, what was its name before the war, and finally, where is it located? I see it says here that it was a part of Sarajevo before the war... Was it a neighborhood, a suburb, or what? Hint: A map would be helpfull... :)

^^ It's a collection of towns east of Sarajevo (therefor not really a city in the common sense) where Lukavica is the main focal point I guess. The only part of it that belonged to Sarajevo before the war is a small part of the suburb Dobrinja. That's pretty much it.

And as for a map, one does not exist as far as I know. Again, it's a very large area...

New buses for Sarajevo public transport - from Zemun's Ikarbus company:yes:
Hope they serve you well:cheers:

===========================

KJKP GRAS dobilo osam novih autobusa

" Novi autobusi puno će doprinijeti sigurnijem i udobnijem prevozu putnika.

Belive me, you will not regret that, the export version of Ikarbus cann't be compared with "local" (much cheaper version) :) Though they started to produce such versions for local market (BGD and so..) too.

Any more buildings that need Mal (http://www.mal.ba) to put on some blue aluminium facade? ;)

^^ Yup, the factory is still existing and active. However not to the degree as before the war.

It's part of the UNIS holding, they also partly own the Volkswagen factory in Sarajevo.

The UNIS twin buildings (now unitec) in Sarajevo are also theirs. :)

It was actually me who posted that. Jan, who told me not to tell anyone that he told me this information, had given me that information. I, not knowing it was a joke, and extremely happy, posted it.

http://www.ghbibl.com.ba/english/index.html

It's pretty much completely finished, I pass by it every day. There's still a fence around a part of it so I don't think it's open to the public, though I could check later. My guess is they're just finishing out some details and work around the structure right now. It looks alright I guess, but I hate the colors. Completely white walls and a seagreen roof. That way the design looks like some weird combination of 17th century old-bosnian architecture and turn of the century new england coastal manor. I don't know, maybe it's just first impressions, but I don't think it fits with the surroundings at all. Not with the Austrio-Hungarian or Ottoman buildings that it borders.

I saw renderings earlier that suggested it would be a dark red roof with dark yellow walls. I have no idea why they changed it-it looked a lot better in that picture.

The Holliday Inn extension should start sometime this summer I think, I'm surprised it hasn't already. I live maybe 100 yards from there so I could probably go sometime and ask them. There is a 9-floor midrise being built right next to that area at the moment though. The third Unitic tower I have no idea about-it might have just been media speculation, but we'll see. The Executive Council Tower.. anybody's guess. They're working on reconstructing/renovating the Parliamentary Assembly Hall right now. Other than some protests taking place right now I couldn't tell you much more.

Cool thanks for the heads up. I liked the original rendering of the Library. They should have stayed with them. I hope they start the reconstruction of the Council Tower. I thought the Greeks were supposed to donate the cash for it. I guess that fell through. So I guess the Bosmal Twins are looking good. The website of the company is rarely updated that some of us do not know what the deal is. Did they remove the old Sarajka for the BBI Complex?

Nope, the Sarajka is still there. The Bosmal twins DO look nice though. As for the parliament, the Greeks did donate money, but I think some more is still necessary. It's only a matter of time really.

IZGRADNJA ZATVORENOG BAZENA NA LOKACIJI OTOKA-MEANDER

http://www.novigradsarajevo.ba/admin/slike/novigrad/bazen_01.jpg

Bazen će rekreativno koristiti i građani Sarajeva, omladina i djeca školskog i predškolskog uzrasta.

From www.ekapija.com:
Potpisivanje ugovora o obnovi zgrade institucija BiH
O ovome je više pisano u: Oslobođenje, 12. 07. 2005.

Zamjenik ministra civilnih poslova i komunikacija i nacionalni koordinator projekta HiPERB za BiH Zoran Tešanović i direktor firme Domotechniki Charilaos Alexopulos potpisaće ugovor o obnovi zgrade institucija BiH - objekt 3, u prisustvu predstavnika domaćih institucija vlasti i diplomatskog kora akreditovanog u BiH. Potpisivanju ugovora će prethoditi susret s predstavnikom vlade donatora, zamjenikom ministra inozemnih poslova Republike Grčke Evripidisom Stvlianidisom.

- 2006. između Vlade Republike Grčke i Vijeća ministara BiH. Ugovorena cijena radova iznosi 15.919.989,536 EUR, od čega zemlja donator Grčka učestvuje s 80,39% sredstava, a ostatak osiguravaju domaće institucije.

Vijeće ministara BiH je na sjednici 30. juna podržalo inicijativu da zgrada institucija BiH - objekt 3 nosi naziv zgrada prijateljstva Grčke i Bosne i Hercegovine.

It's confusing I have read three articles about it and I don’t know if they are talking about the Executive Council Tower or the Parliament. It looks like Greece will foot 80% of the bill for the reconstruction the rest has to come form the Government. (I wonder if that means that the last two floors will be left not reconstructed. :jk: :) )

12.07.2005 (15:53)

SARAJEVO: RECONSTRUCTION OF THE BiH INSTITUTIONS BUILDING

SARAJEVO, July 12 (FENA) – BiH Civil Affairs Deputy Minister and National Coordinator of the Hellenic Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans (HiPERB) Zoran Tesanovic and DOMOTECHNIKI manager Charilaos Alexopulos signed in Sarajevo on Tuesday an agreement on the reconstruction of the BiH Institutions Building.

Before the signing of the agreement Tesanovic met with the representative of the donor Government, Greek Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Evripidis Stylianidis.

The reconstruction of the BiH Institutions Building is financed based on the agreement on a five-year program of development cooperation 2002-2006 between the Greek Government and the BiH Council of Ministers.

The cost of the project has been set at 15.919.989,53 Euro and Greece will participate with 80,39 percent of the funds. Domestic institutions will provide the remaining funds.

“This project is implemented as part of the Greek Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans, and what makes us especially happy is the fact that this is the first project to be financed from this fund”, Tesanovic said.

He said that a Greek company would implement this project, in cooperation with the local economy, and that the implementation is planned to last 18 months.

Tesanovic thanked the Greek Government and people for this assistance and presented letters of gratitude to the Greek Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and the Greek Ambassador to BiH.

Greek Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Evripidis Stylianidis said that work based on the Greek Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans would start immediately.

“This is the first structure of the Greek Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans. The Greek Government provided the largest amount ever for a Greek development plan estimated at 13,5 million Euro. We shall make a forward payment of 2,5 million Euro in order to start the necessary procedures immediately”, Stylianidis said.

He said that Greece is trying in a practical way to show its friendly feelings towards the people of BiH and stressed that this building will be named “The Building of Greek and BiH Friendship”.

Nekoliko novosti iz grada:

› Mercedes gradi zgradu u Lukavici.

^^ Yup, the factory is still existing and active. However not to the degree as before the war.

It's part of the UNIS holding, they also partly own the Volkswagen factory in Sarajevo.

The UNIS twin buildings (now unitec) in Sarajevo are also theirs. :)Hello, I am also new here. Unitec Twins are not anymore from Unis but they are now property of the foreign investors which owns UNITEC company. Grand Media Convention Center on plaice of the Holiday Inn hotel and "intelligent tower" with 22 flours are sure projects and that will be reconstrcuted/constructed soon. I was read that this project is in planing phase. So called "intelligent tower" near Holiday Inn and Unitec Towers will be designe by same architect which designed UNITEC Twin Towers, Ivan Strauss from Sarajevo. Otoka Olympic Pool is under construction, Bosmal is near end of construction, part of highway (future corridor 5C) construction around Sarajevo will soon begin and this project is also sure thing, first phase of project Therme Ilidza is over, they will soon begin with second phase, construction of the hotel, next spring will start reconstruction of the every mayor street in Sarajevo and that is also good news. Bjelasnica and Igman mountains will soon be big construction sites. I saw that you guys spoked about 150 apartments on Bjelasnica mountain and that is U/C but I think Bjelasnica will gets one more I think ski-lift or perhaps gondola-lift on "Y" piste until winter ski season 2005/2006.

Skyscraper BiH i RTX, dobro nam dosli :)Thank you. Bolje vas nasli. :)

O yes, I was read somewhere that Mercator will construct one more shoping mall in Sarajevo.

I've got a request to merge this thread to Sarajevo one, but I hope you know that the posts are ordered by the post time and the posts will mix with each other, so there's a possibility to get a bunch of mess there.

So, shall I merge the threads? ;)
