I think we can wait a looong time for a true super tall, because the lack of vision, even in booming times, is a typical german trait.

To be honest, I don't want a supertall (350-500m+) in Frankfurt. Rather have numerous smaller towers (100-300m) which create a more urban feel and a more dense CBD skyline. A supertall in the current skyline would look ridiculous. And to assume that we would get a whole bunch of supertalls in Frankfurt is just unrealistic.

Depends on the supertall, I'd say. Right, something higher than 350m would probably look out of place (Commerz Bank Tower's antenna adds up to about 300m)...and if the design woud be bad/tacky (like most of the asian and arabian towers) it would ruin Frankfurt's pretty classical skyline as a whole. But if they'd come up with some really well fitting and designed supertall, that would be more than awesome! :D

I am very disappointment by future skyline of frankfurt, it seems like the city is going to turn into manila or bangkok rather than an impressive skyline with ironic supertalls, recognizable, beautiful (high class) and quality skyscrapers.

But all projects in the drawing are high-class and many of them look quite iconic (while only 1 actually is a supertall). The viewpoint is indeed suboptimal though, the worst perspective of Frankfurt skyline IMO, with the (already existing) ugly commieblocks and hideous Henninger Turm in front.

PS: You tried harder this time (respect - nice camouflage for your standarts..) but I bet many forumers already know who you actually are :lol:

9 for the Quality of single Buildings (I love Messeturm, Commerzbank and the Europaturm, but there are also a handful ugly ones)
6 for Arrangement: quite spread over the city center, but its growing better and better
7 for Quantity: quite good for a city of just 600k.

So that makes a (9+6+7)/3 = 7,333 = 7,5 for me :)

Yes, it is the worst perspektive on Frankfurt, but I choosed it, because it's the best perspective to draw the new towers in it ;) And if the new towers don't look iconic or not high quality its a fault of the illustrator. So shame on me and not on the architects.

Yes, the perspective is good for an overview of Frankfurt, but when will they finally tear down that Henninger Turm thing? ;)

Because the buildings in Frankfurt have more personality than Chicago's. Also, Frankfurt has some interesting contrasts with the classic European low rise architecture.

I don't think that Chicago's skyline is that special. It's the conventional american skyline, just given decent size.

And yes, there isn't any "correct" way to rank skylines objectively.

As far as I'm concerned, the Franfurt skyline is very dynamic and it looks really great. It's not as big and impressive as the one of Chicago, but still I find it to be WORLD CLASS.

BTW, I think we shouldn't take into consideration the location of cities when we rate their skylines. The ratings should be based on the same criterias regardless whether the cities are European, American, Asian... so if you are impressed by Chicago's skyline give it a 10, and if you find the Frankfurt skyline nice but not equally good, why don't you give it a 9, an 8, or whatever... instead of rating it a 10 and adding a comment "by European standards...".

Frankfurt undeniably possesses an impressive skyline. A photographer's dream in a way..capturing the right angles ,and it's beautiful.


But, you get glimpses of the real Frankfurt beyond the 12 (how many?) odd tall buildings.. and it peters out into flat boring landscape all too quickly.. not exactly a simmering metropolis.

All these comparisons between Frankfurt skyline and London's are ridiculous. London is a bona fide monster of a metropolis.. not planned, not contrived... just there, just massive. And you could literally exhaust a lifetime snapping London's skyline, and still not have enough time to cover it all.

I waffle... Frankfurt looks sexy and slick for Europe.. that's why it has it's fans.. 7/10

Something about the Commerzbank Tower has always wow-ed me: It was one of the first skyscrapers I was impressed by and still has a magic about it - Its proportions, spire, era it was built in, credentials, amazing interior all combine to create a brilliant skyscraper.

The Messeturm too is a powerful skyscraper. The other buildings on the skyline provide a very harmonious setting for them in a cluster of very satisfying proportions. The backdrop of mountains, and foreground of historic style, smaller scale buildings and water give it real context in place, scale and time.

Wonderful. 10/10 from me

if you speak about the supertall twins in Paris, they look terrible. Same goes to the London Bridge Tower and Moscows skyline doesn't deserve that name.

I love that city, but I miss a few supertalls. Its not like the city needs them, but Frankfurt is one of the best places in Europe to place 2 or 3 supertalls. LEAVE IT TO THE GERMANS :)

I hope they don't allow too many big skylines in European cities, as it would be a shame to ruin the historical ambience, but it does suit Frankfurt.

I like that it's mostly office towers. Looks classy and upmarket.

A nice tower and visualization :okay: but I think the main gap on this (http://www.******************/pc/pc/mypics/972503/display/24811775) picture is between Westend Tower and FBC, while Taunusturm would be visible next to Japan Center on the left if I'm not wrong.

This is definitely one of the best skylines in all of Europe. I can't wait to visit someday, along with Berlin and München.

In European terms definitely #1, 10/10. I am an American and I lived on a base 20 minutes from there and can remember always driving to it! Great city.

In my opinion it's exactly like Atlanta! The skyline is so spread out, but there are a number of tall ones just like Atlanta.
