Pro: Nice architecture, nice height, pretty dense in some areas.
Con: Not enough smaller buildings, it makes the skyline look a bit empty from some angles.

it has height without bulk. the bulk makes it look a bit empty, it needs a good half a dozen mid rises to fill the CBD up more. i also it isnt a very european skyline, it doesnt have the same european feel as london, paris or istanbul. give it 7.5/10.

7/10. Frankfurt looks great in the east-weast axis, especially from a distance. But it needs more midrises (or highrises ;) ) to fill the gaps that are quite visible from the north and the south. Here are two pictures that show the extreme differences in occurence:
Dense from the west: :)
http://tyrell.homeip.net/pics/2004/frankfurt_dense.jpg
Sparse from the south: :(

I gave Frankfurt a 10/10 because of the "avantgarde" design of its towers and the city's overall "enthusiasm" in building skyscrapers. I wish we had the same enthusiasm here in Istanbul, where 99 % of the people don't even know the names of the skyscrapers, and they don't even care at all... :(
The Germans have always been the best in "avantgarde" design.
Just watch a "German Expressionistic" movie of the 1920s (like the skyscraper models in Fritz Lang's "skyscraper movie" classic "Metropolis" of 1927), or the Bauhaus designs of the same years (the ultra-modern designs of Walter Gropius which paved the way for future architects like Mies van der Rohe in next generation skyscraper designing, known today as the "international style"), or simply look at a BMW or Merc of today... :)
Look at those "cutting edge" lines, fruit of a designing tradition which has always been one step ahead of the others...
You gotta love them Germans... :)

Stunning skyline. Very tall buildings with little else in between give it a different apearance to other European cities. Its not just the volume of skyscrapers but the very high quality of design - structure like the Messeturm, Westend tower, commerzbank and Maintower are among Europe's premier buildings.

Normally 8 points, since I'd love it to be more dense. Nevertheless I LOVE the design of the skyscrapers, not just boxes like 80% of the buildings in the USA for example, but really lots of cool and unique designs in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt is a beautiful skyscraper city but remember that it is no megacity like New York, it is small with a clustered skyline. It has a main importance to Germany and Europe's economy. It is home to many of the main German trade fairs and firms and banks etc. Besides,as Germany's financial capital, it is home to the country's Stock Exchange and the European central bank, that's why it plays a big role.Rotterdamm is also a a small industrial city because of its harbor, it was able to locate many businesses, that's why all the skyscrapers there.

7/10 - with a strong bit of generousity.
Frankfurt is a city that does a very good job as a first impression when you first view the dozen or so bank towers. However, from most angles , the buildings are actually fairly spread out and unfortunately somehow have a ghost-townish feel at the bottom of them ( can't really explain that - you must check it out for yourself ) particularily in the area where the European Central Bank, the Commerce Bank, etc. are.
There are absolutely no residential towers in the center and what residential buildings there are seem quite ghetto-ish and depressing ( other than the west-end where all the British and French commuters stay - a very rare exception ).
If I were to rate the city overall, it would come in at about a 2. Even the Germans I know that work there all live outside of the city and express a feeling of depression - as I often do - when coming to it.

Has some great and interesting buildings, just needs to fill in the space around what it has, which of course Frankfurt can do.

Frankfurt's skyline is plain FANTASTIC.
Nonetheless,it's a shame that close to those beautiful 'scrapers, such horrible neighbourhoods were built.(I'm not talking about Westend, which I love).

Berlin is bigger, making Frankfurt smaller. Well, according to the view, Frankfurt does not have that much emphasis, but has enough for satisfy. Even with the city having some towers that are the tallest in Europe, the city should have some more anyways, but it is better like that anyways. Imagine New York City being the 5th largest city in New York, and Philidelphia being the biggest city. Anyways, if you love Germany, then see Frankfurt as your backup guide. 8/10.

Definitely one of the best, if not the best, skylines in Europe. I love the variety of the architecture and the modern looking structures, but it does lack mid-rises that could fill in those gaps. For that I lower its grade. 8.5/10.

La defense and frankfurt are in a league of their own in Europe. I personally prefer the order and harmany of La defense but only marginally. Frankfurt is without question the most eyecatching in Europe even if LD is In My Opiniojn superior.
I love the clustering which is world class and it is a real scraper town.
10 is reserved ro HK nad CHI. 9.5 for NYC so this shares a 9 with La defense.

well they could be someone wasting others time as well as thier own, those spiteful of Frankfurt or Germany or those who are joining for the fun of it, but then again, there are people who are entitled to a 3 or less vote and thier opinions are counted and respected too, not everyone has to agree. This skyline gets a 9, buildings are delicate and well proportioned and add to the character of Frankfurt, Europe's own Manhattan.
