well I guess it was so crappy that I deleted everything.
but do not get back on fighting, even slightly, it will be instantly deleted, and most of all, you'll get a warning.
so now please go back at enjoying the most beautiful church in the block :D
and have a cold one, get drunk and forget about everything

How it looked like before World War II, prior to it being heavily damaged by German bombardment on April 12th, 1941 and eventual total destruction by fascists.

Architecturally the building isn't bad. The color scheme is odd though. Reminds me of the city library in Sarajevo.

The steeple isn't necessarily my thing, but overall it is pretty nice. Reconstruction is spot on.

Church is builted in Serbo-Byzantine style, so it's similar to for example Gračanica (color)...but it's unique. It was builted by ban Milosavljević, and new square from this church to Raiffeisen bank building will have his name, 'Bana Milosavljevića'.

Finally they finished it!!!
Why do churches in Bosnia (RS) have this long tower next to it?
It reminds me on a mosque...

If this were a completely new church that was designed after the Bosnian War I would make the same comment as you. But this church was exactly the same before WW2 and they just replicated it. So I don't think your comment really stands. What would be the point of replicating the church but deciding to not build that part of it because others might think you are trying to compete with them? Maybe instead you should compare it to the Catholic church in Mostar because that's a valid comparison. But of course that's not in your interests.

Can anybody post a photo of that new Catholic church in Mostar?

Why? That's the fugliest thing I've ever seen...
A church is nice, but adding a CN tower like steeple just for the hell of it is horrible.
Btw, Hrista Spasitelja is really nice!

I think the "CN-Towers" were build because of the fact that during the ottoman-empire it was not allowed that churches are higher than mosque, after the turks had left the country they made these towers...
what do you think?

I was just thinking that they liked it. :dunno: :D BTW, I really do hate the church. I have nothing against churches or the religion, it's just that the steeple is soo dam ugly.

I don't think it's ugly, but I think it is way too high, and the only reason they built it that high, is to say that Mostar is a croatian city.. they wanted it to overshadow all the mosques. I think It is a VERY stupid idea.. but what can you do...

I think your interest in this case was to make a smart-aleck comment and receive a few laughs. Like I said if you are referring to recently constructed churches, it makes sense, but that comment can't really apply to this church.

The church is really amazing. With adequate (interior)frescos it could/will become a major attraction in BL.
P.S: Love that preww2 pic of the church

Nevermind, I meant that if you are referring to all the new churches, then I agree with you. I misunderstood you and thought you were talking about this church specifically.
