Is it still on??
Its been very quiet down there, was wondering if Mardigras was on and if people were getting into it. There has been some talk that this will be the last one - is that true?
Anyway we need a mardigras thread.

I find it interesting that there is thehuge gay Mardigras in Sydney but Australia seems to have taken a noticeable turn to right. There have been many laws recently that have been quite homophobic...........same-sex obviously one.
Toronto's gay pride parade is the largest in the world....about 900,000 but obviously Canada is much more liberal than Australia in gay rights and general views.
Has this effected the Mardigras recently???

There's nothing suggesting it's the last one. All I can say is that the leadup to the event has been very low key this year.

Mardi Gras Spectator Numbers have been in decline for quite some time especially last year (thanks to the rain). Hopefully this years will lift spirits of the Gay Community as many of the events organizers are ready to give up if this year doesnt go off. I know Shes not a popular person on these forums but hopefully Clovers Influence will make this one a Mardi Gras To remember, perhaps we will see where SCC's Christmas decoration Budget has gone. I for one will be there, infact ive already begun my festivities so i do apologize if my post is somewhat scattered.
Cheers

The Mardi Grass in on this Saturday
"During his stroll around the Opera House accompanied by New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir, two onlookers asked the prince if he planned to attend Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, being held on Saturday.
Laughing, he replied: "I've got to go to New Zealand tomorrow, thank you very much." "

Yes as someone said much of the United States is way behind in Gay issues compared to All of Australia though with this Howard Government we are currently at a stand still - individual states cannot do much at the moment.

Conservative view comes with a conservative government. If the ALP ever gets its act together, we'll see a more progressive view on the issue.
The change to the marrage act didn't actually change anything, it was just a pre-election political stunt.

Gotta love blatant Labor hacks. Bugger Labor, they basically have zero credibility on any issue.
PS: I despise Peter Batchelor.
