I've been to KLIA on transit.

Didn't get a chance to see much, but KLIA was pretty impressive. Nice pictures there btw, just as I remember it. :)

My only real quibble was that the transit hotel (Pan Pac) is such a long walk from T2!! :(

BTW: In the first pic, what if people actually took that ad as a road sign and followed it for 17,000 km!!

I like the way the Aerotrains come right into the main terminal. Very similar to Orlando Int'l. In Atlanta you take an escalator down about 40 meters to an underground level where the trains operate.

Is KLIA living up to its expectations regarding passenger traffic? I know it wants to become a major regional hub and it looks like it has the size to accomodate a lot of passengers, but it isn't on ACI's top 30 list of airports that handle the most passengers. Do you know how many passengers it handles every year?

Yea......when I arrive at the Orlando Intl Airport (MCO), I was quite surprised at the similarity to KLIA (prior to I have no idea how the airport looks like!) ;)

Yea....KLIA is expecting its capacity to be reached in a few years as its latest passenger traffic per annum stood at 20 million last year. Its current phase capacity is 25 million pax. So this year another satellite terminal building would be constructed (ready in 2007) and a 10 million pax budget airline terminal as well ( which would be ready middle of next year ;) ).

KLIA misses ACI's Top 30 by a whisker I supposed cos it handled 20 million pax last year :D

Whoops.. Actually my plane was delayed a lot, so it landed at erm 2 am. Hence KLIA was sort of dead, and no one was really interested in giving directions, so I ended up at Pan Pac with a 120 hour transit pass.

It was really maddending to see all those signboards "Transit Hotel --> Straight!" and then walking forever, and seeing yet more signboards and continuing walking forever.. :lol:

At that time I was wondering why the transit hotel was OUTSIDE the terminal, but I was too dog-tired to care too much.. :) Thanks for clearing that up.

Yea......HKIA is one of the better airports I've had the privilege of using. Service is good and shopping there is great. My only complain is that it takes a long time to get to the gates.......... :okay:

Yea.......My flight to HK is surprisingly low load.....This is traditionally a high traffic route ;)

But my return trip are filled to the brim. :)

klia looks great and hkg too ive been in hkg there three years ago, but not yet in kuala, hope to visit malaysia someday, and see especially genting highlands!!!

very true ! couldn't agreed more ! great airports like KUL and HKG are destinations by themselves. not only do they serve as transport hub, but a host of other things - like retailing, exhibitions..etc

btw, kudos to this thread...a very well composed photo flight journal. so, mind telling us how much u spent in total for all the camera accessories u bought for this trip?
