Jan, it would be nice if you put alen's heather on friday 11'th as it's the 1st aniversary of the bomb attacks in my city which killed almost 200 people and injured more than 2000... it's the saddest day in the recent history of our city...

I want to propose this banner for the day 19 (19 of March):

It is a about FALLAS of VALENCIA, in SPAIN.
Fallas are the major festivity of Valencia city (the third economic and population city of Spain), fallas take from 16th to 20th of March, were the 19 is the most important day.
Fallas are a festivity declared of International Tourism Interest, and maybe are one of the biggest festivities from all Europe.
This is why it is very important for us to see this particular banner on this particular day.


This banner is based on the 1929 poster of the FALLAS.
This poster was the first poster made for this festivity.

The header image today is absolutely wrong. The images are about the terrorist attack on March 11th in MADRID a year ago, and obviously it isn't any relation with Valladolid. A terrible mistake. Please, remove it or at least correct the name. Anyway, the day WAS on March 11th for remembering, not today!!

Norway celebrates it's 100 years as an independent nation on 7'th of june. I asked Savethewtc if it was okay to have a norwegian banner that day, wich was okay. I also made this (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=208594) thread, where creative souls can give their input.

No. It just proves that nobody, no matter where they live, needs to be ashamed of their skyline. :)

Guys, if you have a banner for a special occasion, make sure to send it to me at least two days before that day, since it's being shown at 12.00 AM your computer time, plus keep in mind our buddies from the eastern hemisphere can be 24 hours ahead compared to wherever you are posting from. If one is going to do a occasion banner, please use the occasion theme as an inspiration for an urban banner, especially when it has got to do with anything political or religious happening. And yes, pretty please refrain from using any letters on the banners.

Thanks for liking them. Yes Kanyakumari is a beautiful place and Thiruvalluvar's (famous Tamil poet) statue (133 ft) and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial are landmarks too!

Although this is off topic...

Last year, the Tsunami hit the island on which the memorial is standing but the huge statue broke the wave and saved the hundreds of tourists stranded on the memorial island. No one was killed on that island.

Here is a (in)famous screen shot from a 16 year old tourist who was just using his camcorder to capture the scenery when lo behold this huge thing came up without any warning.

I actually much prefer an entire contiguous skyline, modest as is may be, to a series of a city's unrelated side-by-side segmented highlights.

I searched and I searched for a poperly sized London skyline pic, but to no avail, so I knocked that up in 5min on paint!
