I think it is absolutely painful to see the terror in Makkah. Why is the Saudi government trying to rape Makkah from its heritage and its experience. I think people forgot that Makkah is a DIFFERENT city, it is a SANCTUARY, you cannot impose funny looking out of scale buildings their, it is a disgrace and an insult to the house of god. People should ask to stop. Please write to the saudi embassy.

The saudi government can do projects in Riyadh and jeddah, why Makkah? Please don't sell Makkah for the profits, where are the architects and urban planners to stop this chaos.

Save_Makkah

Their are many ways to do things in balance, we can still develop sound architecture and profitability without destroying its urban fabric. Its supposed to be Al-Haram, where not even a tree is supposed to be cut off its roots, so how can the government think of destroying prophet's houses and replacing them by toilets? Don't they think about preservation and innovation?, don't they care about the future children asking questions?

Here is Mecca from 1880, found through Google:

I bet people were outraged when they put in the marble floor (is the floor marble?) to replace the dirt and erected those "tall" buildings that overlook the Kaaba.

I don't have problems with those marble floors ( if it's marble), but the "tall" buildings....:ohno::ohno::ohno:

First, I'd like to apologize beforehand to all the people that I'm thoroughly about to offend.

Second: Guyz! Really?!! Think about it. We cannot go that far horizontally. I think people have the right to choose to live within the boundaries of "Haram". It only makes sense if they go "vertically". The population capacity will go higher and not to mention that this vertical expansion will mean more room for more pilgrims in the upcoming future.

I am seriously sick & tired of hearing "This is offensive towards the Holy Mosque and the Kaabah". What's really offensive is that people are using them as excuses to object against such expansions. I truly had enough of people whining about the integrity and holiness of the Holy Mosque and Kaabah being lost. Holiness is dependent upon one's own spirituality. If you lose your spirituality towards the Holy Mosque and the Kaabah just because of the surroundings then I'm sorry to inform you but you might wanna concentrate harder on your own faith instead of questioning others'. Just because, and I say this with all due respect, you cannot taste the sweetness of the candy doesn't make it a bad sour candy.

Vertical expansion is costy and expensive but comparing to the consequences following the demolishing of the surrounding mountains, they're relatively less expensive and more efficient. Plus, more tall buildings will make Makkah more modernized.

p.s. It is actually marble flooring in the Holy Mosque.

p.s. (2) All the above is MY PERSONAL OPINION SOLELY! It doesn't represent Saudis nor Makkah's residents. If you have a problem with this post, debate me and anyone who agrees with me, if there're any.

:applause::applause: btw it's my opinion too and everyone I know :)

This makes sense and I agree.
