I think you all know this district of Vilnius, it's neglected a little bit and a lot of famous (and not very famous) artists live in here ;)

LOL, you were at Užupis today? So I wonder why didn't we meet each other? :D I'll post some of my pics later in this thread, if you don't mind, of course :)

A to , moi drodzy był dom (dokładnie na wprost kolumny z Aniołem ), gdzie urodził się i mieszkał w młodych latach nasz śpiewak operowy Bernard Ładysz. Budynek stał jeszcze w 1998 roku. Do niedawna znakomitą większość mieszkańców Zarzecza (Użupis) stanowili Polacy. Dziś to dzielnica artystyczna - piękna i modna nadzwyczaj, położona wzdłuż dawnego Traktu Połockiego. Wyremontowano ją znakomicie, ale skrzętnie pozacierano ślady dawnych szyldów i napisów na budynkach, niekiedy pamiętających jeszcze carskie czasy - dwujęzyczne szyldy po rosyjsku i.... francusku, bo polszczyzny tam używać nie było wolno, a po litewsku nie było komu gadać..., i tak na robotniczym przedmieściu były francuskie szyldy: "patiserie", "boucher".... , czysta aberracja. A miejsce magiczne - jak tam będziecie - koniecznie, bo warto! A koniecznie zajdźcie na tamtejszy Cmentarz Bernardyński - mniej znany od Rossy, ale równie piękny i pełen pamiątek po wygnanych mieszkańcach miasta.

The official constitution of „Uzupis“:
1. People have the right to live near the Vilnele, and Vilnele has the right to flow near the people. Vilnele is the river running through Uzupis.
2. People have the right to hot water, heating in winter and tiled roofs.
3. People have the right to die, but it’s is not a duty.
4. People have the right to make mistakes.
5. People have the right to be alone.
6. People have the right to love.
7. People have the right to be loved but it’s not a duty.
8. People have the right to be insignificant and unknown.
9. People have the right to be lazy and to do nothing at all.
10. People have the right to love and to take care of a cat.
11. People have the right to take care of the dog until one of them dies.
12. A dog has the right to be a dog.
13. A cat does not have to love its owner, but in times of difficulty it is required to help it’s owner.
14. People have a right sometimes not to know if they have any duties.
15. People have the right to doubt but this is not a duty.
16. People have the right to be happy.

I remember there was a nice pizzeria in Užupis where I always went to eat. It was also popular among locals, as alway sso crowded.

Nice pics! :okay: Užupis is one of my most favourite places in Vilnius.
BTW, what's up with the name of the thread? :) Is it some strange way of spelling? :lol:

Yes this one was the pizzeria I like a lot. kind staff, warm, nice food.
