Nice pictures of Riyadh!!
Saudi houses have really nice touch but the high walls block the scenes.

Hey, SkyFan you do have a point, most of Saudi Arabia's luxury developments are its houses, and they are all hiden by tall walls. As for Kingdom Centre, I think it cost 320 million dollars.

I was looking at the pictures posted in this Thread, and it struck me at just how fast this country (and GULF REGION) has changed in the past thirty years. I mean for example...(and I'm sorry if I offend someone), but the pictures that Anas Anani posted about old Riyadh...well, made me think, the city (sorry to say) looked like Afghanistan 30 years ago. Today, this city is catagorized as one of the world's ultra-modern urban centers (the same goes for Dubai, Manama, Jeddah, Doha, Kuwait etc.)

hmm... why are almost all the lots around the kingdom center empty? cost too much?.. cause its not fun to have desert empty lots around it they should build parks. to suit the building or other skyscrapers. Too bad saudis dont like living an appartments and prefer houses or it would have been a skycraper city :D

^ a really cool all-glass building has been planned for one of those plots... they have the rendering on the site location... infact, the construction might have even started by now! I could've taken a picture of it but the fear of getting caught for taking pictures next to a sky scraper stopped me short.

LOL, I know what you mean. When I went to Saudi this christmas break. I wanted to go around and take pictures of the palaces around our compound and the new high-rises in downtown. Well i managed to grab a few, NOT AS MANY AS I WANTED. My parent almost had a heart attack, when they heard that I went outside the compound and just walked around taking pictures. I REALLY WANTED TO SHOW MY FRIENDS BACK HERE IN THE US HOW RICH AND NICE THE COUNTRY IS.

I mean look at this....where on earth do you see such cars on the highways other than in the GULF

yesterday a french man got killed in a shopping mall in riyadh

This IS what you said.
Stand up to your word and PROVE it.

Prove that a French man was killed in a shopping mall in Riyadh yesterday. Go look up in any world news agency. If you can't then you'll remain a LIAR!!

And please, stop giving the world an ugly false image of Saudi Arabia.

Anas Anani, there was no French man killed in Riyadh. The only French person to have died in Saudi, was in Jeddah, and that was back during summer, when everyone thought all hell was going to break out. But the authorities have gotten on top of the situation, and I personally think that its going to be pretty calm now. The security is still going to be very tight, but I'm not seeing any violence any time soon (AT LEAST I HOPE).

Raza, for a non-Saudi, I would say you should stay quite. Its not your country, and not your government, so its no place for you to go around and incite hatred towards the Royal Family. If you have nothinig constructive to say, then say nothing.

Saudi Dunes you should as well! because you arent saudi and you will never wil be! Saudi Arabia is supposed to be an islamic country and in an islamic country all muslims are allowed to tell their opinion! You just supported dictatorship!

Thanks Anas, you really know how to make people feel welcome in your country. I was only trying to limit the conversation to constructive argument, and not have foreigners disgrace the royal family.
