Taxi's in Sydney are much much more expensive than in Istanbul. It costs me $70AU (78TRY to get to Sydney airport and the airport is 30km away from my house. It's insane! The city never fully recovered, under the Ottoman control that is. And all those wars we had in the past century didn't really help to preserve the Ottoman architectural heritage... And, Constantinople may rest there 1000 years before Turks arrive but that doesn't change the fact that Constantinople is just as size of a district of Ottoman and Modern Istanbul. Many great districts formed along Bosphorus was during Ottoman times, of which we see mainly in this thread. In Istanbul especially around Galata, many houses were owned/built by Greeks, yet when we consider the imperial buildings shown here they are not the majority. For instance most significant architectural pieces like big yalis along Bosphorus, many mansions were belonging to high class Turkish Pashas, many other buildings shown here were built by the sultanate, royal family. Greeks were an important part of Istanbul through Ottoman Rule but was not the only or main element as you are trying to portray. Your knowledge is limited, and fairly biased. Considering your general attidude in SSC, posting like crazy to old messages, opening flamewar threads, I will not repeat my advice of read complete history of architecture of Istanbul, because it is obvious that you are so far from it, you are just here to cause trouble.
