I've been in Vancouver my entire life. It's great here, but getting expensive.

I'm pretty sure I found this forum through Google. I have a lot of time on my hands now. I have an interest in structures, transportation, photography...

It's a great site. I've learned a lot and have been able to view some great photos from cities around the world.

In fact, I'll be getting a new digital camera today, so you may see some photos from me soon.

I came across SSP ( I understand Dylan lives in Parksville) Then became aware of SSC!
I hope to give Nanaimo a bit of a voice there is alot going on in this small city! I hope to take some pictures to add to this site this summer! Also anyone interested in Nanaimo or wanting some info please feel free to contact me!
As most know already there are 6 new buildings in Downtown Nanaimo on the drawing board! The new Nanaimo center hotel and conference centre as its center piece!
But what most do not know about is Georgiaview village in the north end of Nanaimo behind costco, has two condominium towers in the development! Now these are perhaps three years from coming to happen or starting development but when they do come they will be a big part of the Nanaimo real estate!
Nanaimo is a very progressive city with alot happening for the good! But like most cities has a good number of negative people or nimbys!

Jeez, the last post in this thing was way back in March? There must be all kinds of new forumers since then.

Anyway, even though I added a fair amount to my profile (does anyone even look at peoples' profiles besides me?) I will tell a little about myself:

Name: Trevor
Race: Black (mixed blood)
Age: 22
Provenance: Born in North York Ont., lived in Amherst, N.S. from ages 2.5-14, my Mother then moved us to HFX at 14, then Dartmouth at 15.5 where we lived for3.5 yrs. I have moved 18 times in my life. I now live alone in Halifax (Spryfield) and don't really like the area as it isn't central enough. I walk or bike most places (no car, hate buses).
Interests: Learning, health and fitness, current affairs, politics, other knowledge related studies. I'm also interested in TV and music.
I'm not exactly sure how I came across the site, but it was most likely AltaVista (I don't use Google)

Well, I think that's pretty thorough. (Unless there's something else)
Oh, and why are people so skimpy on their profiles? Some people only have their user name and their join date.

TO_Joe
August 24th, 2005, 12:15 AM
Hello, Joe in Toronto. Glad to see a good cross section.

ABOUT ME
Age: ancient (thirtysomething)
Interests: travel around the world
Occupation: business guy
Marital Status: gay single
Race: Chinese Canadian (if you need to know)
Growing Up: Toronto
Car: SUV (I don't apologize for using it for camping and hiking, but
I do feel that it is a terrible waste in the city - unfortunately,
since I live in the city, I have no parking space for a second
city car like a SMART car)
How found: stumbled on this when I was searching for world pictures
What I think: l love the pictures to plan my next trip destination, some insightful discussions and facts frequently from people who live there (I know how to separate wheat from chaff), I get irritated with immature and mindless nationalistic or parochial "mine is bigger than yours" or "you suck" statements, relaxing to look at this stuff and join the discussions once in a while after a hard day's work
Where I've been: many countries mostly in Americas and Asia; in Canada 8/10 provinces but unfortunately none of the territories
Next world destinations: Ethiopia (culture and history), Yemen (the original skyscraper city in the desert!), North Korea (socialist surrealism), Dubai (after seeing all the pix), Peru, Guatemala, Cambodia (archaeology), South Africa, Mozambique (wildlife, beauty, Africa)
Next Canadian destinations: Yukon (river trip on Tatshenshini), Newfoundland, Nova Scotia (Cape Breton), Quebec (Charlevoix, Tadoussac), Churchill MB or Yellowknife in January for the Northern Lights
Urban Issues: interesting urban high density design -- imaginative high rises mixed with cool classic or renovated industrial low-rises integrated with efficient mass transport and creation of vibrant street life and gardens and greenery; concerns about social and environmental implications of North American style suburban sprawl (car dependency, self-selecting homogeneity and isolationism of communities, agricultural land and greenbelt destruction); integrating natural features in city design and zoning (lakes, hills, rivers, mountainscape); custom buildings to suit local climate (desert / cold / high altitude / wet / extremes) -- imagination and innovation wanted

Cheers

Oh actually, Zootopia is the board at u2.com, so you have been there:)

I missed all three days when they were here. Gutted...to say the least. I tried getting tickets the morning they went on sale but it was impossible. We had four of us trying too. I then was going to get scalped tickets and that was shed loads so I gave up. I'm going to try and get ticks for the Portland show in Dec if I'm here. Did you make it to any of the shows?

jada
August 27th, 2005, 05:27 AM
I managed to get tickets to both via ticketmaster the day they went on sale. They were crappy tickets, but somehow I managed to find a U2 fan who had a floor ticket for sale at cost, and I bought it! Plus I went to the video filming... let me just say these were the best three days of my life! I really hope you make it to Portland. :)

Not sure what you're asking, jada, do you mean like get access to put pictures up on to the Trillium Photography website, in which case I offered my services, because a lot of cities/towns are close by me that needed to be done (like Stratford, Goderich, Owen Sound and soon possibly Sudbury) and I have a nice digital camera, or you mean extra webspace from the SSP server to use for the entire Trillium Photography website, in which you would have to ask Tony about that and I'm not sure if it is available to the public or not, but I doubt if it is. :)

I'm surprised you haven't met the guy or don't know who he is, but he is one the BIG GUYs over @ the SSP forums.

Anthony Sun is a Super Moderator and part of the Senior Committee over @ SkyscraperPage. You can see him posting topics on the Ontario forums over there often on SSP, and sometimes here as well. He (Tony) is a very good friend of Dylan's. The Trillium Photography Website is on Dylan's server at the moment, although more than likely in the future sometime, it might probably be moved to its own website, when the space maybe gets jammed up or something.

He started this topic on Trillium Photography on the Ontario forum on SSP:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?threadid=80589

There are currently 8 of us photographers on the website including Tony, Blitz, Lucky 24, Brighter Hell (not a member of SSC, but a member of SSP), Border City Boy (not on SSC, but on SSP), a couple of other guys and yours truly.

If you want to contact him or find out more about him, you can e-mail him, anthonysun@hotmail.com, or you PM him on here by simply typing in "Tony" on who to send the PM to. :)
