Ortigas and Company to put up new mall in Pasig City

By ROULEE JANE F. CALAYAG, Reporter

Ortigas and Company Limited Partnership, together with three major tenants, will spend P1.5 billion for its 18.8-hectare mixed-use commercial project Frontera Verde (Green Edge) in Pasig City.

Rex C. Drilon II, the company's chief operating officer, said the company would contribute the land and a three-hectare retail development worth around P200 million to P250 million to the project.

"The rest will come from other locators. The SM Group will invest P500 million; the MC Mall, Inc. will put in P700 million; and [Pilipinas] Shell, over P100 million," Mr. Drilon said.

Frontera Verde's 18.8-hectare site is bound by Ortigas Avenue, Julia Vargas Avenue, and the E. Rodriguez Avenue (C-5) in Pasig City.

The first to be put up at the site will be the Tiendesitas (small stores), which Ortigas and Company will unveil in May. Its Greenhills Shopping Center Group will manage the project, dubbed to be an improved Philippine version of the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, Thailand.

"We want to unload our land bank fast. Since we are paying P12 million in taxes yearly for the land, we thought we might as well do something with it. By the end of 2006, we hope that Tiendesitas will be substantially built up and have it opened until perhaps 2 am," Mr. Drilon said.

The target markets for Tiendesitas will be A, B and upper C. "It will be like Greenhills, where 55% of our market consists of A, B and upper C," Mr. Drilon said. "It will also generate thousands of jobs."

Joey F. Santos, general manager of Greenhills Shopping Center, said the Tiendesitas would be a permanent place for small entrepreneurs, especially those from the provinces, to display their crafts and expertise.

"We want to showcase what is Filipino by giving small entrepreneurs a permanent outlet through Tiendesitas. Although we are cautious in getting elements, we believe that we have enough retailers. There will be 700 merchants to start with. It will be a taste of home," he said.

INCUBATING PROMISING ENTREPRENEURS

Mr. Drilon said his company would want to continue incubating promising entrepreneurs in Tiendesitas. Greenhills Shopping Center is where big brands such as Bayo, Kamiseta, and Toby's started.

Trina R. Chan, Ortigas sales and marketing manager, also said Frontera Verde would be an alternative venue for families, with the three-hectare Tiendesitas flea market as its anchor.

"Tiendesitas will feature an antiques village, a pets and plants village, a wet and dry goods village, and there will also be different food specialties from the provinces," Ms. Chan said.

Cathy Casares-Ko, head of Ortigas' real estate division, added that the company carefully planned Tiendesitas and other facets of the mixed-use commercial development.

"We spent one year in conceptualizing the development. It is a well thought out project that ensures a place for everyone," she said.

Shell had a soft opening for its first 5,000-square meter gas station in November last year.

SM will also build at the site a two-hectare hypermart -- a combination department store-supermarket. This will be the first time that SM subsidiaries such as Watson's, Ace Hardware, Toy Kingdom, and Our Home, will set up shop outside of SM malls. A Banco de Oro bank will also be put up.

MC Mall, the group behind MC Home Depot and the Fort Strip in Fort Bonifacio, will develop around five hectares for a medical mall, a fusion mall for electronics, and an auto mall.

nice...! I remember going to that Chatuchak market in Bangkok when we visited last year. didn't like it all too much. it was really crowded and not too clean... and the heat made it worse. but my mom got a lot of stuff for really cheap there, so...

Tiendesitas sounds good... seems like it'll be similar to those Clamshell things the DOT has at Intramuros. only a lot bigger... hopefully it will become a place to showcase purely Philippine products that will attract both locals and tourists...

Ortigas and partners' response to one-stop shop commercial enclaves
By ROULEE JANE F. CALAYAG, Reporter

A new shopping and leisure haunt will be unveiled in Pasig City in May.

Ortigas & Co. Ltd. Partnership (OCLP), the operator of Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan, will launch Frontera Verde.

Artist's perspective of tiendesitas, which will be managed by the group that runs Greenhills Shopping Center

The company, together with Shell Pilipinas, the SM Group and MC Mall, Inc., will infuse P1.5 billion for the development of the 18.8-hectare mixed-use commercial project bounded by Ortigas, Julia Vargas and E. Rodriguez avenues (Circumferential or C-5 Road), and which is also near upscale residential enclaves such as Greenmeadows and Valle Verde in Pasig City.

Rex Drilon II, OCLP chief operating officer, said Frontera Verde, which means green edge in Spanish, will be a one-stop shopping venue.

Complementing Greenhills's fame for value finds, particularly pearls and cellphones, Frontera Verde will be the improved version of the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, Thailand.

It will be a 10-year interim project that will host indoor and outdoor activities.

Frontera Verde will accommodate tiendesitas, or small stores, Shell gas stations, stand-alone restaurants and bars, children's interactive park, MC Mall, SM Hypermart, driving range, as well as terminal and parking lots.

The commercial area is expected to be substantially completed by the second half as OCLP celebrates its 74th anniversary in July.

Cathy Casares-Ko, head of OCLP's real estate division, said, "We spent a year conceptualizing the development. It is a well thought out project."

Trina R. Chan, OCLP sales and marketing manager, said the tiendesitas will feature 12 Maranao-inspired single storey buildings with small- to medium-sized stalls and a central plaza for weekend bazaars and activities.

"There will also be different food specialties from the regions like bagnet of Ilocos, batchoy of Bacolod, inihaw na panga of Davao and other favorites such as adobo, in the tiendesitas," she said.

"It has a unique Filipino architecture, design and ambiance. I did not expect we would use too much cogon," said Mr. Drilon.

The tiendesitas will be zoned into villages dedicated solely for antiques, pets and plants, as well as for wet and dry goods.

Joey F. Santos, general manager of subsidiary Greenhills Shopping Center, which will manage the tiendesitas, said the company wants to showcase everything Filipino.

"We have enough retailers, especially those from the provinces. We have 700 retailers to start with. We want to give small entrepreneurs a permanent place to showcase their crafts and give buyers more fun, allowing them to experience a taste of home [provincial roots]. The Filipinos deserve better [offerings]," said Mr. Santos.

He added that the tiendesitas will be different from other developments because "we are cautious in getting elements."

Shell formally launched its 5,000-square meter gas station in February at the corner of Julia Vargas and C-5. It offers a full-range of fuels and lubricants and other car services as well as an assortment of retail shops. There is now a Select convenience store, Jollibee outlet and Chowking branch.

Mocha Blends will also set up shop in one of the gas stations to cater to those who love to sip coffee.

There will also be rows and bars offering international and local cuisines in Frontera Verde.

In anticipation of the huge traffic that will result from the influx of people to the area, Ms. Casares-Ko said a 20-meter wide major artery, called Frontera Drive, will connect Ortigas to Julia Vargas for easy access. There will also be two minor arterial roads that will allow access to and from C-5.

The children's interactive park will have a petting zoo, carousel, interactive play area, and function areas for shows, competitions, and parties.

The other section will be for retail shops that will showcase family-themed restaurants, pet shops, snack carts, and other children's shops.

MC Mall will host a medical mall to host doctors' offices, laboratories, spas, and everything related to wellness, mall for electronic gadgets, and automotive mall for vehicle dealers,.

The group behind the MC Home Depots and Fort Strip in Fort Bonifacio will develop five hectares for the three malls.

The SM Group will build a hypermart -- a combination of a department store and supermarket -- beside the tiendesitas.

Mr. Drilon said this will be the first time that SM affiliates such as Watson's, Ace Hardware, Our Home, Banco de Oro Universal Savings Bank and Toy Kingdom, will locate outside SM malls.

For the golf enthusiasts, Frontera Verde also offers a modern driving range complete with amenities like pro shops, delicatessen, gymnasium and other sports-related services.

Aside from public transport, OCLP said it is putting up a shuttle service to and from the Greenhills Shopping Center and Frontera Verde.

TIENDESITAS
Asia’s first and largest flea market and theme park rises in Pasig City

The Department of Tourism (DoT) is in the frontline in the WOW Philippines campaign to attract more tourists and foreign guests. Tourism Secretary Ace Durano’s advocacy is to promote the Philippine Islands not only to tourists but to the Filipino people as well. “I love the Philippines: Biyahe Na!” is the 2005 theme that aspires to promote not only the natural resources, but also the diverse culture, exceptional native cuisine and rich traditions of the land.

Tourists and other foreign guests also visit the country because of world-class products and tropical fruits. Philippine-made furniture and fruits like mangoes from Guimaras and lanzones is one reason the foreigners flock to our shores.

Soon more foreign guests are expected to visit the Philippines because of Tiendesitas.

Tiendesitas, soon to be Asia’s first and largest flea market and theme park, will fortify the glory of the vanishing Philippine arts and culture. No more branded food chains, no more imported goods but instead an exhibition of Filipino products made by defined native manufacturers. Small stores in a green frontier replace the air-conditioned rooms in a multi-story building.

The Greenhills Shopping Center in partnership with Las Islas Trade & Consumer Show Organizer has launched the premier shopping destination in the country, Frontera Verde Tiendesitas (small villages in a green frontier). The 18-hectare land will later bring the recognition of the Filipino-made products in the world market.

Tiendesitas functions like an "urban retreat" where you can walk around in wide-opened villages. Every villages is within a walking distance. The imagery that welcomes customers is an upscale solemn surrounding area.

Even though transplanted in chaotic Metro Manila, the flea market and theme park has an elegant architecture projecting graceful interior and exterior designs.

Pasig, as the choice of location, is a strategic venue for building Tiendesitas because of its fast progressing municipality. With the global giants and selected multinationals office sites, it’s a perfect embodiment that will later be known as the exhibition capital.

Small entrepreneurs coming from 18 regions can now invest their own businesses here. At an affordable rental fee compared to malls, these Filipino artisans display their craftsmanship and creative ideas. There will be more jobs for Filipinos that would capitalize the macro industry as a way of recovering from the economic decline. Almost 1,500 stalls will operate to build a strong foundation for more than 1,000 families in hand.

Joey F. Santos, general manager, Greenhills Shopping Center, and Henry G. Babiera, chief executive officer, Las Islas, are both optimistic Tiendesitas will encourage a new form of shopping – relaxed and leisurely.

Tiendesitas is composed of different villages such as Philippine Crafts, Arts and Antiques, Pets and Garden, Food, Sweets and Delicacies Village. In addition to these, Footwear, Leather goods and Garment Village complete the projected aura of the flea market.

In the said villages, most of the clothes are fabricated with genuine fiber; handicrafts are made of indigenous materials and home-made products from different provinces from north to south. Delicious delicacies will satisfy the taste buds of each customer that will stop over to shop.

As a theme park, its landscape architecture showcases a variety of flora and fauna, exposing the nature’s splendor where customers can shop, dine and be entertained. Swaying trees and a horizon of clear ponds along walkways describe Tiendesitas.

According to Babiera, "business with conscience" is an integral venture for a developed industry. With his mentor Don Rafael Ortigas, integration of "tiangges" to malls again attracts many Filipino to non-stop shopping. After the reinvention of Greenhills, he became known as the dean of Philippine Trade Fair and Exhibition.

"Business is not merely getting committed to earn money, but also an engagement to his fellowmen and country with sustainable macro industry," said Babiera.

Establishments such as commercial centers, shopping malls and deluxe hotels are the trendy developments going on in the metropolis. Perhaps Tiendesitas is not the usual establishment but it’s a stronghold of heritage and history

I passed by Frontera Verde last Saturday and I noticed that a road parallel to C-5 was constructed at the western side of the complex, stretching from Tiendesitas all the way up to Ortigas ave., that way Tiendesitas can be accessed from Ortigas without passing through C-5.

The lightposts were already there and I can't help noticing the similarity to the lightposts in BGC, although they're a bit fancier than their Global City counterparts. Even that road has this BGC feeling in it probably because of the lighposts.

For Tiendesitas, all of the roofs were already covered with cogon. It looks all set for opening.

I also noticed that there were excavations on the western side of the new road. I think it will be for MC Mall and/or the SM Hypermarket.

I don't have any pictures kasi may katabi ako sa bus kaya nahiya akong kumuha ng pictures. There's no clear view of Tiendesitas there anyway because it's quite far from the Ortigas ave. side of the complex so only the roofs are visible.

Frontera Verde looks really promising and it complements the nearby developments like Metrowalk, etc. Hopefully it will trigger the development of the nearby Meralco complex which is planned to be redeveloped into a mixed-use complex. Its redevelopment has already started with the construction of the new Medical City.

Here's a pic of Frontera Verde, look carefully at the lightposts (BGC inspired design?).
The excavation at the right of the road could be for SM Hypermarket and/or MC Mall.
Tiendesitas is partially visible (only part of the roof) at the background.

cool..! thanks for the update, thomasian! according to the second article in the previous page, the newly built road is a "20-meter wide major artery, called Frontera Drive, will connect Ortigas to Julia Vargas for easy access."

Tiendesitas does indeed look pretty big! and it sounds like an awesome project! once it opens, it will definitely become another tourist attraction that can surely help the Philippines compete with neighboring countries in arts/crafts shopping. plus a great place for small start-ups and SMEs scattered throughout the country.

btw, I wonder if it'll be an open market or if the little "tiendesitas" will be enclosed and air conditioned. I think air conditioning (outside of the SM hypermarket thing) will destroy the theme and feel of the project's main concept. maybe some other form of cooling the air would be nice... like those mist thingies... haha!

Ortigas Sees 2005 Revenues Slowing Down
BusinessWorld - 04/26/05

Ortigas & Co. Ltd. Partnership, the
owner of Greenhills Shopping Center in
San Juan, sees revenues slowing this year
due to loss of rental income from Virra

grow 22%, lower than the annual average

New shopping destination rises in Ortigas
By Charles E. Buban
Inquirer News Service

THE GROUP behind Ortigas central business district, Greenhills Shopping Center and upscale subdivisions like Greenmeadows, Valle Verde and Wack-Wack has announced the groundbreaking of its latest project located on C-5 and bounded by Julia Vargas and Ortigas Avenues.

According to developer Ortigas and Co. Ltd. Partnership (OCLP), the 19-hectare mixed-use commercial development called Frontera Verde will be a unique shopping and recreation destination.

Spanish for Green Edge, Frontera Verde will be made up of several components, which will be developed over a span of 10 years.

In fact, the Tiendesitas (a collection of small retail stores), a Shell fuel station and a couple of stand-alone restaurants and bars are already operating within the property.

Complementing Greenhills

"Frontera Verde is meant to complement Greenhills Shopping Center and like our famous shopping destination, our newest destination will have different activity zones catering to each member of the family," revealed OCLP chief executive officer Rex Drilon II.

Drilon says the concept is in line with OCLP's mission to continually provide the country's real estate and shopping center industry with new and innovative products and services.

"For example, the Tiendesitas is targeted to help small entrepreneurs and regional products find their market here. It will be very similar to the Chatuchak flea market in Bangkok," revealed Drilon, referring to the famous flea market in Thailand, which is billed as the world's largest.

12 buildings

The Tiendesitas features 12 Maranao-inspired single-story buildings with small to medium sized stalls and a huge central plaza for weekend bazaars and activities.

The three-hectare retail development, which will be managed by the Greenhills Shopping Center Group, is zoned into "villages" wherein various retail items will be offered.

"Each village will be unique. Just to give an example, one village will offer antiques while the other pets and plants. There will also be a village for wet and dry goods and foods that offer regional specialties like the "bagnet" of Ilocos, "batchoy" of Bacolod, "inihaw na panga" of Davao, as well as adobo and inihaw," said GSCG general manager Joey Santos.

Shell fuel station

Among the first to rise within the property is the Shell fuel station, which had its soft opening last November.

The 5,000-sq-m station, located at the southern part of the property (Julia Vargas Avenue and C-5) is fast becoming a popular stopover for motorists, thanks to a full range of products and services it offers.

"Apart from fuel and car washing services, the Shell station has a Select Store and several locators including Jollibee, Chowking and Mocha Blends," explained OCLP sales and marketing manager Trina Chan.

Ko adds that various stand-alone restaurants and bars -- offering local and international cuisine -- are now being constructed within this area.

Other components

The OCLP announces other components of Frontera Verde are now in different stages of completion, majority of which are expected to be completed by December.

"Expect a children's interactive park to rise within Frontera Verde. Here we will set up a pet zoo, a carousel, an interactive play area, as well as function areas for shows and competitions," said OCLP Real Estate Division head Cathy Casares-Ko.

A retail section will also rise featuring family-theme restaurants, pet shop, snack carts and various kiddie shops (i.e. photo shop, kiddie salon, animal spa, party shop, daycare center, amusement section, bookstore, candy shop).

Big locator

Among the biggest locators within Frontera Verde is MC Mall Inc., the group behind MC Home Depots and the Fort Strip at the Fort in Taguig City.

"MC Mall will be developing around five hectares within Frontera Verde. Here they will set up a medical mall that will offer everything related to wellness (clinics, medical supply stores); a fusion mall (electronic shops, fashion boutiques, furniture shops casual 'al fresco' dining); an auto mall (a one-stop shop for automotive related products and services) as well as car dealerships," said Ko.

Shopping experience

To complete the shopping experience, the SM group has also agreed to set up its Hypermart beside the Tiendesitas.

"Apart from the Hypermart, OCLP is also building a modern driving range complete with all amenities like pro shops, a delicatessen, a gym and other golf-related services," revealed Drilon.

Toward the later part of 2006, Drilon revealed OCLP is also looking at setting up a terminal within the property.

"In fact, we are planning to set up shuttle service or a loop between Frontera Verde and Greenhills Shopping Center," Drilon said, adding this will definitely be a case of experiencing and enjoying the best of both shopping destination's offerings.

TIENDESITAS
A Philippine showcase

Soon, tourists and locals will be able to find the best of Philippine products in one culturally-inspired destination.

Tiendesitas at Frontera Verde, the brainchild of Ortigas & Company Ltd. Partnership, is the anchor attraction of a huge compound where a hypermart, medical center, auto mall, and children’s activity center will complete a shopper’s dream.

Chief Executive Officer Red Drilon presented to Tourism Secretary Ace Durano the details of the Tiendesitas – anticipated to become a major tourist hub.

Twelve pavilions dedicated to different merchandise are clustered together in attractive Asian-inspired architecture. The best products of the Philippines – normally just found during trade fairs – will now be available year round, seven days a week from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

Tiendesitas at Frontera Verde is the outcome of Ortigas’ mission to provide a year round showcase of the Philippines’ best products. The pleasure of shopping under "several roofs" will be derived from the organized clustering of merchandise. Each pavilion is dedicated to a specific line of merchandise such as fashion, furniture, antiques, food, plants and pets.

Locals who have become Greenhills Tiangge loyalists will discover that Tiendesitas offers the same thrill but a different range of shopping finds. The Greenhills Shopping Center will continue to be the mecca for jewellery, particularly pearls of different grades and designs.

"We believe we have mastered the art of ‘tiangge retailing," says Rex Drilon. "The merchandise mix, shopping pleasure and values we offer have been tried and tested."

Hey Guys,
so i checked out the place yesterday. The place isn't open yet unfortunately, but the place is definitely 95% done regarding construction and stuff. The buildings or should I say Shop areas are all ready. I saw the signs and stands all set up and ready. THe place looks really really nice and VERY organized. Also very impressive even though it was night time. The lighting was really nice. I think they should put up some outdoor eating places that are STRICTLY mom and pop food places. NO BIG BUSINESS eateries please.
I saw lots and lots of cars at the place, which probably means that owners of stands are getting ready for the big opening.

I can't wait.

Ortigas & Co., the real estate and property company of the Ortigas family, is looking at going public as a means of raising funds to finance its development projects, The STAR learned.

This as company chief operating officer Rex Drilon disclosed that the company allocated at least P700 million this year for new projects as well as rehabilitation of existing ones. Around P400 million is being spent for the rehabilitation of the Virra Mall shopping complex which will be opened to the public this December as the new V Mall.

Another P300 million was put into the development of Frontera Verde, an 18.5-hectare project at the corner of Ortigas Avenue in C-5 in Pasig. In this new shopping and entertainment corridor rose the three-hectare Tiendesitas (the four-star equivalent of world-renowned Chatuchak Market in Bangkok) in which the Ortigas group spent two-thirds (P200 million) of the amount.

Tiendesitas opens to the public today with 450 tenants clustered in villages (handicrafts village, fashion, personal care and novelties, pets, plants, antiques, furniture, food, delicacies, and wet market village open from 12 noon to midnight) featuring Philippine-made products.

Frontera Verde will have as among its locators the first stand-alone hypermart of SM. According to Drilon, the SM group is finalizing its development plans although the hypermart is expected to be open by the second half of next year.

Other locators include an automall which will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2006, a technology corridor, a wellness center, a fun ranch for kids, among others.

Founded in 1971, Ortigas & Co., now one-third owned by Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. (HSBC) and the rest by the two Ortigas families, used to own 4,000 hectares of real property from Pasig River all the way to Loyola Heights. It developed the highly successful Valle Verde and Green Meadow subdivisions. After selling most of its property, it currently has less than 100 hectares of prime property, including the land on which company owned 16-hectare Greenhills Shopping Center and Frontera Verde stands.

Drilon said that Ortigas & Co., which used to be a family corporation, is currently a limited partnership, but the group has always seriously considered becoming a listed company. "We are taking this matter slowly but eventually we will get there, but it has to be at the right time. Right now, we can finance our projects using our own funds, but as we can see from the track that other real estate companies have taken, growing big may have to entail raising funds from other sources," he told The STAR.

He pointed out that though times have been difficult for business in general, Ortigas & Co continues to invest about P500 million a year into Greenhills development.

Aside from the highly successful Greenhills Shipping Center, other Ortigas projects that have become models in real estate development are the Ortigas Center business district, the three Greenhills subdivisions, the six Valle Verde villages, and the three Greenmeadows residential enclaves.

The company’s net asset value, according to Drilon, is between P20 and P30 billion.

Drilon also disclosed that the company is still in negotiations with the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) to get back the 18.5-hectare prime Payanig complex in Pasig which was bought from the Ortigas at "concessional prices" during the Martial Law regime.

Ortigas & Co is also studying for possible development the one-hectare corridor between Valle Verde and Green Meadows.

Passed by the site last Saturday on my way to my BF's house.
I noticed that the MC development is named as "Silver City - an MC Mall" (based on the label on the fences) and that it occupies the whole western side of Frontera Verde from Ortigas Ave. all the way to Julia Vargas Ave.
On the Ortigas side, it is still on the excavation stage, while on the Julia Vargas side, the structure has already reached ground level.

Actually that can be a problem to Filipino architects and interior designers because some people would come up and say "ay, parang Bali" when it is in fact Filipino inspired.

...hey, I'm not an interior designer, I'm a computer scientist (if that's how we call someone taking Computer Science :D )

It looks more Filipino with Spanish flair and definitely not Balinese. The roof is similar to bahay kubo. The iron gate with round design is definitely a Spanish influence. You can see something similar in churches except for the missing mosaic. The sink is like a bowl for holy water. And the lampara on wheels is Spanish-influenced also.

I didn't say it was balinese looking. I was referring to other supposedly Filipiniana-designed projects that end up looking like that in Bali.

Yeah, It's Filipino mixed with some Spanish and Spanish-Mediterranean touches like the colorful tiles on the stairs on the 5th picture.

Hey Aaron, i went by last night it was great

I loved the antique furniture sections because it actually showed Pinoy antique furniture. Tourists would never know whether the furnitures are Spanish or Asian due to its unique blend of Asian and Spanish culture. Everyone has their perception of Asian decor, but Filipino decor is unique in that it incorporates Spanish designs with Catholic influences.

I have plenty of pics, i'll post more later. I went at night, it's very romantic there at night. Nice place for a date :) I think i know where to treat my hubby next.

@ Bustero - I can't remember where I got that rendering kasi I got it more than a year ago.
Basta it's from the website of an architectural firm yata.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b210/ofngol/Photo_100205_007x.jpg

When I saw the billboard of Silver City/MC Mall at the site, I noticed that it looks so familiar and I remember that I had a rendering like that saved from a website, so I immediately searched my PC for that rendering when I got home.
After running through thousands of pics (including porn) in my disk, I found it at last.

There's also another rendering named Shell Power (gas) Station taken also from that site. It looks like a gas station with a strip mall/commercial center. I'll post it in the Mega Metro Mall thread later.

Do you happen to know who the architect of MC Mall is, it's not posted in their billboard?
I've been searching for the website where I got that rendering because they might have newer renderings now.

After a three-month delay, Ortigas and

shopping complex project within the
next three to five years following the successful
launch of its Tiendesitas market. The
company runs the Greenhills Shopping Complex
in San Juan, Mandaluyong. In September,
it launched Tiendesitas, a group of small
stores selling mostly Filipiniana products, on
the company’s Frontera Verde commercial
project along Ortigas Avenue. There are no
specific locations yet in mind for the next
shopping complex. The next shopping mall
project may be similar to Tiendesitas,
dubbed as the Philippines’ version of the
Chatuchak Weekend market in Bangkok,
Thailand. This three-hectare shopping complex,
which has already attracted at least a
thousand stores, is slated to be completed
by the end of 2006. The complex currently
has an antiques village, a pets and plants village,
a wet and dry goods village and various
food specialties. For the Frontera Verde
property, the company, along with partners
agreed to spend P1.5-B to develop the
mixed-use commercial space.

Aaron is right this thing is very nearly done, was in tiendesitas the other day and was looking at it , very fast, naunahan pa ang MC mall which for some reason looks like that it was cut at one end!

SM Supercenter Pasig to open soon

Source: Business World

SM Supercenter Pasig, the 26th SM Supermall, is set to open on Aug. 18.

Situated on a 2.7-hectare property in Frontera Verde along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, the 29,017-square-meter mall will serve residents in the neighboring upscale and industrial divisions, as well as customers who regularly traverse the C5 route to and from Quezon City, Cainta, Taytay, Antipolo, Pateros, Taguig, and Marikina City. Envisioned as a one-stop-shop for household and day-to-day needs, SM Supercenter Pasig has the SM Hypermarket as its major anchor.

The hypermarket is a European concept that combines the supermarket, general merchandise, and discount retailers.

One of the SM Hypermarket's attractions is Taste Asia, where one can experience the flavors of Chinese, Filipino, Korean, and Japanese cuisine, dampa-style. Dampa is a seafood market where customers can take a pick from fresh catch and have these cooked right away; it has gained popularity among local diners in the past few years.

The new mall will also have SM mainstays like Ace Hardware and the SM Food Court, which will house local and international fastfood chains. Meanwhile, basement parking will have 307 slots to ensure customer convenience.

^^Hmm, delayed ang opening...The previous articles say that this would open on July 29, bakit kaya nadelay?

Gud day,SSC, I am a newbie here =)
Thank you for all the info about Frontera Verde.
Di nyo na maitatanong, i am an architecture student and currently i am doing my thesis which is an IT Center.
May nakita akong site dev dun sa parang office nila about the whole Frontera pero ayaw nila pahiram for security reasons =(
Kung sa Pasig City Hall naman, wala pa assessment about the site kasi bago p lang.
Kaya po i am seeking ur help guys...kung may alam po kaung accurate info like floor plans, perspective renderings or maps about the Fun ranch or the 3 silvercity malls malaking tulong na po.
Thank you and gud day to all.

I'm actually saddened by the fact that a lot of people in SSC don't put much attention and concern to the Projects on the Rise subforum and it's objectives and goals of providing updates on the latest projects. I consider this subforum pa naman as my home in SSC.

^^ Sorry I can't speak Spanish but someone can actually help translate this one.

A lot of real estate developments, restaurants, and other establishments here in the Philippines, even the new ones, have Spanish names like: Tiendesitas en Frontera Verde, Puerto Azul, Lagos del Sol, Punta Fuego, Terrazas de Punta Fuego, Las Palmas Hotel, Parque España Hotel, Torre Venezia, Siete Pecados (Restaurant), Ciudad Grande (Village), El Nido (Resort), Puerto de San Juan, El Comedor (Restaurant), La Casa Buena (Restaurant), La Cocina de Tita Moning, La Tienda, Las Paellas de Alba (Restaurant), Tapas Bar y Casa Armas (Restaurant),
Peligro (Restaurant), and the list goes on, some of them may not even be grammatically correct but at least they show the Hispanic history of the Philippines.

It pleases me a lot to see how you still maintain (the use of) Spanish names in the Philippines. I believe that this must never be lost.

Effectively, these names show the hispanic influence on the Philippines and this gives her a special character.

Greetings to all from Madrid

:D True enough, workout nga sya kasi paggising ko kinabukasan masakit ang upper body ko, just exactly what I'm targeting.

Tumutulo na kaya pawis ko sa mukha papunta sa sidewalk pero di ko naman mapunasan kasi baka gumulong pababa yung classmate ko pag binitiwan ko sya :colgate: , pero okay na rin yun, workout din yun ano! :D True enough, workout nga sya kasi paggising ko kinabukasan masakit ang upper body ko, just exactly what I'm targeting.

at kailan ka pa naging Care-Giver?
