Thought I'd first say hello to everyone as this is my first post in this forum. Long time listener, first time caller ... and all that jazz ...
Anyways, on the south shore of the River there was a golf course that is now being developed -- The Regatta and The Shoreham are there now. Between those two buildings and the Swisshotel, there is a spot that looks like it's being preppred for a new condo -- does anyone know what the plans are for this area?

Hmmm, the Shoreham and the Lancaster are up now. The Regatta is just cranes and concrete mixers. Is there other activity going on down there? On that side, next to Wacker and all.

I mixed up The Lancaster with The Regatta ...
Anyways, it looks like the ground is being prepped for some new construction. I caught word that it might be something along the lines of some townhomes since anything of substancial height would block views of western facing Shoreham units, which I'm sure would leave those tenents a little less than happy.

I'm still trying to figure out where exactly you're referring to? The Shoreham and Lancaster are topped out. . . the Regatta is under construction with two tower cranes along Wacker drive. . . the only other activity going on is along Randolph Street at the 340 on the Park site where they are drilling caissons for the foundations of this, the fourth building. . . I don't recall seeing anything else going on at all between the Shoreham and the Swissotel. . .

This picture (although dated a bit) gives a good idea of what's going on. In the foreground (west of the Shoreham) is the area that I'm talking about ...

Here is an entire thread about Lake Shore East and all of the plans going on there. There are over 100 posts, that should keep you busy for a while. :)

Currently there's nothing going on at that part of the site. . .

Thanks for the link InTheLoop ... I was surprised to see the mention of a school being built in that neighborhood. That's one thing I was always curious about: where kids go to school if they live in the Loop ... they can't ALL go to private schools, can they? Do residents in that part of town have to pay school taxes?
