Elizabeth Kinoke May 1st, 2005, 11:41 PM Why don't you all meet somewhere like the craven arms by the mailbox, it's a good quiet meeting place and has great views over hct and sentinels from outside. morestoreysplease May 1st, 2005, 11:44 PM We could, after the footie results. Whaddya say kids? Elizabeth Kinoke May 2nd, 2005, 12:13 AM Ive met there on a few occassions and the beer isn't too pricey, it's friendly and has kept most of it's small town charm, if you get attacked by a bald bloke on medication who says he's a gay postman don't blame me though ok. Only jestin, it's a nice boozer. mk61 May 2nd, 2005, 12:17 AM I'm up for that. Elizabeth Kinoke May 2nd, 2005, 12:25 AM I've only ever seen it packed once when Milwall played Blues and it seemed to be a HQ for Brum, they were hanging from the rafters, my cousin knew a few of them and aparently a guy called Tiny (which he isn't) was there, other than that it's quiet another cool one is bar red top of temple street, no dress code, table service by nice ladies, not too pricey and cosy atmosphere. Rigadon May 2nd, 2005, 01:22 AM well if its anything like this weekend the I think we shoudl go somewhere with a beer garden/outside bit. Are you coming snorky? Rigadon May 2nd, 2005, 01:23 AM - 2am? . It was 4:30 am last time Elizabeth Kinoke May 2nd, 2005, 01:34 AM well if its anything like this weekend the I think we shoudl go somewhere with a beer garden/outside bit. Are you coming snorky? It depends on whether I am in Brum, trouble is everytine I'm around the city I'm with my bro or other friends who get pissed off with me talking about fucking skyscrapers and so I don't think they would entertain the idea, my bro would be cool with us poppin in for a beer I guess, maybe? don't count me in but I would like to meet up one time, preferably when A.C. gets the go ahead, I don't fancy talking about Blunthers piles in the mean time! Elizabeth Kinoke May 2nd, 2005, 01:39 AM Im not sure but maybe a beer garden at craven arms, don't count on it though, actually now i come to think of it there aren't many beer gardens in town pubs the council don't like it, ipenema is good for sitting outside though, good view of broad street, you have to be careful going out in large gropus of men though, soem places don't like it. Smileyface May 2nd, 2005, 03:49 AM If you're in town EK just pop down for one.....Blunther promises not to get his pile cream out. Nacho May 2nd, 2005, 08:31 PM Banks's an all! Rigadon May 2nd, 2005, 10:31 PM Its behind the mailbox. You cant beat a "Pub to Let" sign covered up with a St Georges flag. hasnt got much of a beer garden though :( Elizabeth Kinoke May 3rd, 2005, 12:04 AM It's not as bad as it looks, the only time to avoid is before or after a blues match otherwise its fine, they don't like non brummie accents though from my experience, be careful rigadon. :runaway: Elizabeth Kinoke May 3rd, 2005, 12:07 AM You cant beat a "Pub to Let" sign covered up with a St Georges flag. :) class, I hope this place survives the redevelopment of this area. morestoreysplease May 5th, 2005, 02:04 PM As it's exactly T minus 50 hours, shall we have a recap and call the register? Sounds like a good plan.......Rigadon, check your pm's Blunther July 21st, 2005, 10:01 AM I'm playing golf at ten to ten, so I'll probably be there for about two, then home for half two, so up town about three... then I';ll probably have to leave at eightish 'cos I'm off to a partay, so I'd better take it easy on the booze too.... Blunther August 15th, 2005, 12:31 PM Welcome back Blunther. How was your holiday ? Cracking thanks. Unbearably hot though, though I hear it's been a touch warm in Spain. I don't know how you cope with it. 35C plus humidity and strong sun.... jesus.... Just off to Blackpool for a lads' piss up, and staying in a b and b. All the girls we know are off on a girly camping trip, so we had to do summat. We're probably one down though./ A chap I ain't seen for ages works in the Bristol Pear in Selly Oak, and he got glassed across the face by some scally last week. He's gotta have plastuc surgery and everything :( Nacho August 15th, 2005, 01:01 PM Unbearably hot though, though I hear it's been a touch warm in Spain. I don't know how you cope with it. 35C plus humidity and strong sun.... jesus.... :( Sorry to hear about your friend Blunther.Seville's terrible at the moment....it's been the driest year since the early fifties. If I remember correctly, it has rained three times since last October.Normally it's a case of hanging around the house until nightfall then spending the night until five or six in the morning in the bars down by the river;the coolest(weather wise)place in the city.Down on the coast(an hour from here)there's always a breeze but nothing stirs in Seville.Temperatures having been hitting 43/44 but those official statistics are taken from the airport some kms from here....the city is hotter. Craigie_Mann August 15th, 2005, 01:56 PM Alright guys just wondering if any of yous knew what the Paragon hotel is like because i'm coming down to birmingham on saturday on a night out ta. Smileyface August 15th, 2005, 01:59 PM I don't know what it's like to stay in but from the outside it's a fantastic looking building http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/Robdann/Birmingham%202/Paragonhotel1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/Robdann/Birmingham%202/ParagonHotel2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/Robdann/Birmingham%202/ParagonHotel3.jpg Steve-e-b August 16th, 2005, 11:39 AM Just a word of warning, Craigie_Mann: the area directly between the hotel and the city centre is quite run down. Although the area at the top of the hill (where the hotel is) has been regenerated, the roads that lead down to the Bullring are bordered mainly by factories and warehouses. This means it gets very quiet at times - that's not to say it's a dangerous place to walk through, just a little eerie. I'd suggest following the Digbeth high street (High Street Deritend (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=407750.323578142&Y=286250.951910256&width=700&height=400&gride=407811.323578142&gridn=286350.951910256&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=GB&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=1&scale=10000)), which is more lively because it's home to several pubs, so would probably be your choice of route anyway. Craigie_Mann August 17th, 2005, 01:41 AM AW thanks guys and thanks for the advice steve i'm sure theres some divies like everywhere who would love to do us in cause were from Liverpool apprecite that thanks! Forward August 17th, 2005, 01:52 AM Stayed there in 1998 for the Lions International Convention, when then it was the Chamberlain Hotel. The hotel had been taken over by the Japanese Lions groups. There were so many visiting Lions delegates from all over the world that weekend in August '98, that the march-past from five ways to the city took over five hours. The room I had was a single, very clean and tiny, though quite small. Enjoy your stay. morestoreysplease August 21st, 2005, 11:47 PM Here are the fixtures for that date Saturday, 10 September 2005 Birmingham v Charlton, 15:00 Chelsea v Sunderland, 15:00 Everton v Portsmouth, 15:00 Man Utd v Man City, 13:00 Middlesbrough v Arsenal, 17:15 Newcastle v Fulham, 15:00 Tottenham v Liverpool, 15:00 West Brom v Wigan, 15:00 Luton v Wolverhampton, 15:00 Hartlepool v Walsall, 15:00 I don't hold out much hope for Blues then.
