Here are a few pics of my fav part of Toronto. It's a new development built only 5 years ago, yet not it seems it's been part of Etobicoke forever.
Humber Bay Shores is a large park running along the entire length of the Humber bay. Hope you like these shots.

Leaving my house and walking towards the waterfront.

The Polish center, thank god it's getting demolished soon and a new condo will grace this area.:D

Here's where we'll be going:

#2 No, just the ugly little building in front (the pink one)

#3 I agree, Voyager looks the best too.

Humber Bay is a great place to take Toronto's skyline if you have a decent camera with a 5x zoom. My cheap 3x zoom digicam didn't turn out great though. ;)

That's cool, interesting how near we live to each other too.
It's a lovely place to walk or bike. I usually during the summer bike all the way to St. Joe's. It's all within reasonable distance too.

One thing I'm getting excited about is this condo going up 150 m from my house.
The retail at the bottom should spark a new commercial revitalization which this area lacks.

What kick-ass 45 storey tower this will be, hello rising property value.:D

^Thanks Timice!

Here's a cool pic I found of the completion of the construction of Grand Harbour condos. These condos were built in 1993 and have received numerous architectural awards. Note that then actual attention was paid to detail and the simple aesthetics of condos as now we have these charming cookie-cutter condos going up all over the place.:sleepy:

Truly a sight for sore eyes, I used to live there when we moved for the third time. It's really a great place to live...:)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/filipv/Building1.jpg
Note how the area has also changed drastically. Behind the tower you see industrial buildings and small houses. Those were all torn down to make place for townhomes - just like the one I live ~ 5 years ago. The regeneration of Mimico has begun with these towers and who knows when it'll end.:D

Hey, Filipe how long does it take via tram from your place to Union?

The condos are nice indeed, compare it to the N1 which is such a confused mess:

45 mins, Queen street is a mess for streetcars.
N1 is ok, I guess I'll have to get used to it since you can read a few posts back a similar humongous condo project is planned for in literally the same design right on my doorstep.:D I can't wait to see it rise though, soon enough a continuous line of condos will be made from Palace Pier to Grand Harbour.

^ damn, that's not good. I'm guessing it's probably a smooth ride on Queensway but once you hit Queen that's the end of that. A transit mall would be great for Queen, too bad there's bastards working over time to make sure that doesn't happen.

Totally true, the Queensway is smooth sailing. Then you hit the Roncy and everything goes to hell. I guess they should ban left turns except on major thoroughfares. That would clear up the right of way for the streetcar. Doesn't matter anyway; I usually get my parents to drive me downtown. It's about 7 mins on the Gardiner.:D

7 minutes, what are they driving a rocket ;)

Banning left turns is something that should be done in the interm seeing as how this has sped up the downtown trams by a wide margin. It'd be nice to get the Queen congestion fixed, but King has to be taken care of first still.

The Gardiner can be quite fast when there's no traffic. Especially with my dad's crazy driving.:D
And the Queen streetcar right-of-way, if it did happen I'd personally kiss the councillor in charge. Now because of this I just take the Royal York bus north and then the subway, it's much quicker.

Filip

Hmmm, ~45 mins?:D:D

I know, my area really has horrible transit. That's why that fabled Lakeshore subway line would serve me greatly.;)

^ hahaha. I guess its a ways off but if you're planning to stay at home for university, it's going to be one crappy commute, especially up to York U. I'll be continuing my studies at York and even from the Annex or Forest Hill it would take at least ~30-40 minutes of commute, although I guess the busway next year will help. !#$&%^ York!

Yeah it will be....:( Since I'll be most likely staying to study engineering at UofT my parents have promised me I can get our condo at Grand Harbour to live in.:D But yeah, the commute will probably make that deal more bitter than it sounds...

I actually know a guy who, if admitted, will be going with me to York next year. He plans to commute from - wait for it - Mississauga.

^ ok that would be inhumane, but it's actually not that horrid since in the scenario above he might as well be taking an airplane from Vancouver every day.

Bus to Square One Mississauga (~15-20 min), get on GO Bus to York University (~40 minutes to ~1 hour otherwise).

LOL! I commute an hour to school, so that doesn't seem too bad...
