here are a couple sobering pictures of moderate (sorry, not too heavy) traffic on state route 141 outside of new castle, delaware, right near the ncco airport. as you can see, the tornado crosses over busy 141. the same tornado also crossed over heavily busy i-295 and i-95, but i don't have pictures of that.

here are some pictures i took this afternoon at around 2 in the wilmington area.

driving on southbound i-95, just south of wilmington. getting ready to cross the christina river, and also getting ready for the i-295 exit for the delaware memorial bridge and new jersey.

http://img14.echo.cx/img14/1107/dscf14329wh.jpg

southbound i-95 again. once i-295 and i-495 merge with i-95, there is a stretch of the interstate that is 5 lanes (which you can see here). my exit is coming up, state route 141 north towards newport.

http://img14.echo.cx/img14/781/dscf14336dy.jpg

route 141 borthbound as it goes through newport.

On a more serious note, I found this picture of the late Keith Kalland. He was my favorite traffic reporter here in Atlanta and I enjoyed listening to him on TV and on the radio. I think he was by far one of the most interesting traffic reporters to listen to anywhere in the country. I remember when he passed away suddenly a couple of years ago, it was so sad, and Atlanta rush hour hasn't been the same since since... RIP Keith!

Atlanta have a good skyline, anyways.. Atlanta traffic isnt that horrible, 12-14 lanes in the highway that goes to down town(I-85/I-75), almost like chicago's I-94/I-90 merge when going through downtown. But when there is not traffic in Atlanta, like late at night. More than 12 lanes empty is all for you to drive

Those pics of Cruces show typical southwestern development patterns, with the horizontal traffic lights and the overdone medians. I grew up about 45 minutes east of those pics in El Paso, Tx, and the roads look the same. Man, I forget what its like to be so wide open.

Traffic on the beltway (495) near DC (not my pic). The situation there has gotten out of control. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and I-95 was pretty much stopped from DC to Fredericksburg (50 miles), southbound at 8 in the evening!!!

^Yeah, DC/Baltimore area traffic is awful. Both beltways, I-95, I-295, both downtowns, everything. Dc is worse than Baltimore though. That poster is exactly right. You can hop on the beltway at 8pm and its still bumber-to-bumper traffic.

Below is a pic of heavy traffic on Lombard Street in Downtown Baltimore from today's Baltimore Sun. The article basically said that since Baltimore was rated as having the 6th worst traffic among all large metros, its getting worse.

Sorry i don't have any pics, but i've been a in a lot of traffic, especially in chicago. a few times i've been on the interstate (in chicago) and i was just standing there for at least 2 hours, didn't move an inch. i could see most people getting outta their cars and setting up chairs outside of their car and talking to complete strangers, just sitting there. it gets pretty crazy in chicago.

^ That happens in ANY good sized metro with a major accident.

here's i-95 southbound (left side) and northbound (right side) as it heads towards wilmington. judging from the lighting in the picture, i would say this is around 4pm.

ha, the only reason cincinnati has heavy traffic is because I-75 is only 4 lanes across at its widest point. when all the traffic tries to merge onto the bridge going into Kentucky at rush hour...yeah, awful idea.

other than that, Cinci has no really heavy traffic
