Eddy January 6th, 2003, 12:55 PM I like the Australian Skylines very much and Brisbane is really cool...and with the new towers it will be perfect 8/10
SteelCity32 January 7th, 2003, 12:03 AM whoa looking good. Brisbane always looks good though.
8/10
Hacksaw January 7th, 2003, 07:23 AM A nice mixture of buildings make a good skyline; 8.5/10
SUNNI January 7th, 2003, 08:20 AM its dense and i like it.. 8
DaninTO January 7th, 2003, 11:43 PM 8.5/10, in a couple years, when the new towers pop up, 9.5/10
X-seed 4000 January 8th, 2003, 01:19 AM Dense, diverse, nice height and architecture make this city kick a lot of ass!!!
X-seed 4000 January 8th, 2003, 01:21 AM Ooops, my rating: 8.5/10.
I really can't find many bad things about the skyline.
De Snor January 8th, 2003, 09:08 PM lovely situated in the riverbend with great architecture , an 8
Oaronuviss January 9th, 2003, 08:37 PM Pretty impressive I must say... 7.5 for me.
;)
Jeff from Winnipeg January 10th, 2003, 06:37 AM Yeah, lots of diversity in the buildings, nice how it comes right up to the water like that. ->8/10
Duff January 10th, 2003, 09:06 PM 8.5
i love having a line of skysrapers along the river like that
RUM January 17th, 2003, 01:08 AM I'll give it an 7.5/10. Some nice stylish buildings, but not enough height. Two 200m+ skyscrapers will boost its score a bit.
kiku99 January 17th, 2003, 01:46 AM Impressive. I like all the pictures posted here.
Before i like Sydney skyline more, but i am not sure now...

m01lim November 15th, 2003, 01:26 AM Brisbane is going to be undergoing a huge change in the next few years. As well as some major developments at street level many new scrapers are being built.
1.Magaret St Tower-240m/2005 Proposed
2.Emerald 230m/2005 Proposed (soon to be approved with construction)
3.Aurora 207m/2005 Under Construction
4.Riparian 200m/2004 Under Construction
5.Central Plaza 174m/1988
6.Waterfront Place 162m/1989
7.Brisbane Square 153m/2005 Under Construction
8.Charlotte Towers 145m/2005 Proposed
9. Adelaide Street Tower 145m/2005 Proposed
10. 111 George Street 145m/1993
11.Riverside Centre 142m/1986
12.Panorama Sky Apartments 136m/2005 Under Construction
13.AMP Centre 135m/1977
14.Festival Towers 134m/2005 Under Construction
15.Comalco Place 134m/1983
16.Felix Tower 131m/2003 Under Construction
17.Casino Towers 129m/2004 Under Construction
From this list you can see that by 2005 Brisbane will definitely have 2 new tallest buildings and 2 even taller by 2006, making 4 new tallests. By 2006 7/10 tallest in the city will be new buildings. The city will change dramatically over the next few years.
Sniper November 16th, 2003, 08:39 PM 9/10. Impressive... It's the first time that I see photos from Brisbane!!!
massiveattack November 17th, 2003, 12:08 AM hi aussies
well, brisbane's aerial views are jaw dropping, seriously, very nice city, and gosh!!!!!! is getting bigger and bigger, imagine, for a city of only 1.6 million inhabitants they'll built like 4 buildings over 200 meters, great
8.5/10
when it gets the four 200 meter towers, it'll be 10
cheers
CaptainJackSparrow November 17th, 2003, 06:07 AM I love it! Skyscrapers by the river, reminds me of Singapore.
leealex_24 November 17th, 2003, 03:20 PM Beautiful city, the buildings seem to focus near the lake, or the harbourside just like sydney. Overall, a nice city but, less buildings as compared to sydney. I give 9/10
Mr. Big November 18th, 2003, 04:36 PM I like this skyline but nothing really jumps out at the moment. Maybe that will change in the coming years.
7/10
Richo November 20th, 2003, 10:38 AM 7/10 for me.

Nice post anyway!
Dos August 2nd, 2004, 09:55 PM The reason is that I only have these photos in my computer now.
I'm not a good photographer, just for fun and to put into
my own diary website http://dosday.com
Actually I'm thinking of writing another story about Brisbane City,
especially Brisbane CBD. Therefore I would take lots more photos
in the CBD area and of course some of them with regards to
Brisbane skyline will be uploaded here.

Oi, no offence, but I think that's Sydney.
Personally I love Brisbane. So much glass.
My favourite buildings are the treasury casino and the ATO Tower(Just on the East side of ANZAC square.
On of the things that I like about Brisbane is that there are so many parks in the CBD. The thing that I don't like is that once you go outside the CBD and a couple of suburbs surrounding it, it's boring.
digili_man August 2nd, 2004, 10:58 PM I never really liked Melbourne but these pics look great especially in the first image, a city beside a body of water. ------------------------------8

Bronteboy September 7th, 2004, 04:10 AM a recent shot of Brisbane, currently ranked 173rd in the skyline voting poll -
along with all other Australian cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast etc, bunched together in the 170s, well below some really negligible skyline cities.
see some discussion on this under Sydney listing. Its a great pity that voting in the poll - which has produced so much wonderfully informative viewing and photography - should have been ramped in this way:

David3820 September 28th, 2004, 05:51 AM Wow very impressive!! I'm surprised to discover that Brisbane looks like this!! I always thought that it's skyline was smaller then Melbourne's and it reminds me of Chicago. This skyline is also the best planned I have ever seen and most of it's skyscrapers I think are so lovely. 10/10
Blend September 28th, 2004, 08:03 AM Well, it IS smaller than melbournes, dont be mistaken about that. It goes Sydney --> Melbourne --> Brisbane.
But yea, ppl are often suprised by its size.. cuz most ppl just imagine it having a small one.
And its currently getting 3 200m + towers (maybe a fourfth)
2 ones at 200m and i at 246m (maybe 250m to spire)... and also a 165m and a 153m along with tens of others above 100m
so major boom
nagelixin September 28th, 2004, 08:45 AM Most of these pics are old and do not show what the skyline is like today. Pop back in say 2 years (and even 4) and you will notice a massive difference.
fishcatdogbird September 28th, 2004, 08:57 AM 6.5 when the construction cycle ends it will be an 8, cant wait.

I think it looks very good for its population - some of the shots show a great looking city. With more height and some additional density it will look even better. It has some nice reflective towers with a reasonable height, combine with with the nice setting and it goes to produce a city worth more than a 3.
The one of the city covered in mist looks incredible and reminds me of Shenzhen for some reason.
Thanks troll :P

strandk February 2nd, 2005, 07:53 AM A beautiful city and a skyline. I live in Baltimore, MD. I saw the skyline ranking in this thread. It is very wierd that Sydney or any major Auatralian cities is ranked below Baltimore. Baltimore has something nice to offer. People in Baltimore are laid back and not uptight. But the skyline ranking of Baltimore shouldn't be above that of Sydney.

strandk February 2nd, 2005, 09:19 AM I would like to hear the opinions of people who rated the skylines of New York, Hong Kong, Chicago, or Tokyo less than three. I think that the skyline ratings of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane have to be at least more than 6 regardless of the difference of taste or rating systems of each voter. But there are many people who rated the skylines of these cities less than 3.5. As far as judged by pictures, four big cities and three Ausie cities that I mentioned above has many buildings of superior quality. If the poll is done by open voting system, we can hear the opinions of people who rated big cities with hundreds or thousands of skyscrapers designed by first-rate architects less than three.
Malt February 2nd, 2005, 10:06 AM I imagine its just people who want their own city further up, so yeah.
If any change is going to be made to this system youd need to Make sure anyone who voted left a comment, and u could see what they voted and their reasons why. And somehow make sure people didnt register new accounts just to vote.
But yeah, everyone can see that ppl are just voting that out of spite, nohting we can do

SkyHigh529 March 21st, 2005, 08:06 AM Though not my favorite Aussie skyline, Brisbane still is a beautiful city and works well with the riverfront. I give this a 7. I love the fourth pic.
SkyHigh529 March 21st, 2005, 08:12 AM ^After looking more closely at some of the other pics I'm upgrading my rating to an 8.5. Brisbane is indeed a beautiful city and like the other Oz cities deserves to be higher ranked than it is. SSC is unfortunately full of politics, but who hates Oz cities so much that they'd rate them so low? I don't think that Americans would as I don't see how they'd feel threatened by Oz. Could it be people from NZ or England? Just wondering.

inzane January 4th, 2006, 01:27 PM nice pics. someone should take a pic from from the PA hospital, the view shows crazy density and a nice skyline form/shape.

LMCA1990 January 17th, 2006, 03:26 AM 8/10- nice skyline for it's population. i think that it could be a bit bigger and the city is so big (in area) for it's population.

KJBrissy February 2nd, 2006, 05:22 PM It'll be awesome if Vision at 283 metres and Empire square at 235 metres gets approved. This will add great height to the skyline!!!

SkyBoy February 4th, 2006, 03:25 AM Man....I'm really jealous at those lucky people who can afford to live in those nice apartments at Kangaroo Point and New Farm overlooking this great skyline. :|
mephy February 13th, 2006, 05:59 AM well I love Bris Vegas. The CBD is getting better every year, growing upwards and wrapped in that big fat lazy river but the Council needs to stand firm on the quality of the architecture - too many high rise residential with too much drab painted concrete, boring stairwells and stacks of little dunny windows.

Thankyou - did you see the Above Brisbane thread in Ozcrapers?

^^
There are some great aerials in that thread - should take a look.
wowsim March 22nd, 2006, 12:28 PM ^^Been through it today, as well as that aerial photo website.....excellent!
melicha March 24th, 2006, 05:41 PM I'm not going to be biased just because I'm a brissie chick, I'll try my best to be honest though. The variety of buildings in size and shape make Brisbane city look a bit clustered, but depending on the angle you look at it, the larger buildings overshadow the smaller ones and the layout look fantastic. Especially if you're looking towards the Story Bridge as well. Plus, the larger buildings were built architecurally well. Therefore, I'd have to give Brisbane a 9/10!
P.S Nice photos Orfeo ;)
WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU?
WATCH THE BLOODY COMMERCIAL TOO!

WestEnderBender May 11th, 2006, 05:31 PM I will have to say 10/10, especially after looking at some other skylines around the world! That may be slightly biased, but if I lived anywhere else I'm sure my love for skyscrapers would not exist.
diz May 13th, 2006, 11:51 PM beautiful city.
9/10
Bertez May 14th, 2006, 03:31 AM I like this one a lot.....8.5
Mesh22 May 16th, 2006, 10:54 AM Until the recent construction, the skyline was terribly bland, but Vision is the diamond in the rough, a stunning building.
Queen Street Mall, best mall in Australia!
I love the Fortitude Valley area too, reminds me alot of America's south (New Orleans)
7/10!!

Shafick May 21st, 2006, 02:47 AM The skyline is absolutley beautiful.. 10 points
tigermike May 21st, 2006, 04:43 PM has quite a pretty setting with the river and I like the bridge...but that new concrete seidler thing is an abomonation.....what a wasted opportunity for such a prime site. I voted 7.
Taller, Better May 21st, 2006, 05:06 PM Pleasant looking city. A solid 7.

ferge January 28th, 2007, 07:01 PM I spent 3 nights in Brisbane last summer when I travelled the East coast..
Unfortunately I didn't get any decent pics! doh!! cos we stayed close to the transit centre, (not the most interesting of places) and we only trotted to the storey bridge at night, and my camera can't do darkness, lol..
So I never saw the skyline in its full beauty, still there were some nice towers.. the photos do it justice on here compared to what I saw just because of the location I was in. I saw it when we flew out of Aus to Hong Kong as we flew from Cairns to Brisbane and I saw the skyline from the runway and it looked really imposing and dominate
8/10
