cool
600ft that's incredibly tall for a wheel

i'm not sure but there also is one of these huge wheels in london, it's likely to be the world's tallest for now

I replied in the world forums. It's good it's in Abu Dhabi and not Dubai to balance things out, or atleast everythin isn't in Dubai ;).

this is the most incredible wheel i've ever seen
awesome
and it really looks like there are some 15 residential floors and a penthouse at the top :D
but i guess there is an observation floor and a restaurant

but why does one render show the project on a new island and another shows it on the continent?

I dont like the design, looks too wierd. And what are those two wierd buildings on main land? They look like the backs of two sharks!

This seems to be a part of the new coastal development along the corniche but we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for the pictures Abu Dhabi Boy.

Firms working on $150m entertainment project

ABU DHABI — To add more tourist attractions in the city, three companies are working on plans to construct a 600-feet tall vertical revolving vehicle — the Voyager Wheel and Condo Complex costing $150 million.

The entertainment project would be the first of its kind in the Middle East which will provide entertainment to UAE residents as well as foreign tourists.

The Voyager wheel and Condo Complex is being termed as a leap forward in terms of pushing the engineering and design envelopes.

According to details, Voyager Entertainment International, an entertainment development company has signed a joint venture agreement with Allied Investment House (AIH) to construct a 600 feet Observation Wheel.

The tall high-tech attraction would have the capacity to entertain 7.5 million guests annually, with each Observation Wheel consisting of 30 Orbitors seating 20 passengers and making a complete revolution approximately every 27 minutes. Allied Investment House will provide Voyager 100 per cent of the project financing up to $150 million. While Voyager will design, construct and manage the project.

A company is being registered which will acquire suitable land, and developing, constructing and operating a 600 feet vertical revolving vehicle and related entertainment facilities, restaurants and condominium facilities.

Paul Steelman Design Group has modified the Voyager Observation Wheel to incorporate additional retail, specialty Orbitor Cars and custom residential condominiums within the wheel superstructure.

Additional hotel and other structures will also be phased in to the overall master plan.

Allied Investment House have been working with their strategic partner Bin Salem Group based in Abu Dhabi, to finance since negotiations began between Allied and Voyager.

The Bin Salem Group, is a conglomerate based in Abu Dhabi with wide interests in real-estate, medical technologies, education, landscaping, cosmetics, hospitality, construction, and engineering.

Colossal, that simple, but from where caramba removes all engineering, the logistics, the technique, to construct of a so brilliant way, to all this whatever the entrance to this "wheel of the fortune" cost? jejeje, let us say that he will be something of height, like all the one of here

dubaiflo

is there finally some evidence where this one will be built? dubai or AD?

Dubai-Lover
June 26th, 2005, 08:05 PM
well, as far as i can see the wheel in abu dhabi was proposed by a company which was close to bankrupcy

dubai's wheel has different developers
somehow i think, they're independant projects with different developers

the one in abu dhabi must have been cancelled

dubaiflo

would be weird anyhow if there were the two largest wheels in cities next to each other...
well i would like to see it in dubailand.
maybe the developers for the dubai one's got the idea when they saw the other proposed one...

i'd say it is technically impossible to create such a project in a few weeks
i could imagine that developers of such projects have insider news or know about things months before they are published
probably dubai found out months ago, abu dhabi is planning a ferris wheel and they made their own with a more reliable investor and developer!

dubaiflo
June 28th, 2005, 10:00 PM
could be.
but it is not impossible to release such a proposal within a few weeks, if you don't test if someone is really able to construct it.
