The exterior looks a bit cheap (by no means unusual for suburban malls), but the interior is tasteful and some thought has been given in the planning. I like the light colours and the wooden arches in the ceiling add a nice touch. At detail level the interior seems fairly original, even though this http://www.balticshoppingcenters.com/images/gallery/08.jpg plaza does conjure up Piazza in Itäkeskus. All in all, I'd like to see a bit more imaginative exterior, other than that it's a nice addition to Kaunas' services.

Architecture

MEGA will be built in the very spacious and comfortable place. The project was developed by experienced German shopping centre developers together with leading International commercial property architects, Chapman Taylor.

a bold plan no doubt, but i dont get it wtf is it with the rings and stuff? if they really think someone would drive from Vilnius just to buy from there they are out of their minds...only if the stuff is alot cheaper.

Exterior looks quite "unconcrete". Altough in this pic (http://www.balticshoppingcenters.com/images/gallery/06.jpg) interior seems to be a little bit kitchy I still quite like it.

nice to see that everything is moving, just exterior looks quite boring. I would prefer Kaunas "Akropolis" more.

Watching that picture with those yellow circles makes me think, which is the real centre in Lithuania, it is IMO definitely Kaunas. Sorry, but Vilnius looks somwere in the bush in that picture

Sorry, but Vilnius looks somwere in the bush in that picture :laugh:Yes, Kaunas is quite close to the geographical center of Lithuania. I think that Kedainiai is probably the closest town to the geographical center of Lithuania. Btw, no need to be sorry - noone claims that Vilnius is located in the center of Lithuania. :)

Btw, here are some newer photos from construction site of Mega taken by Liutass in Lithuanian forum: http://tinkle.miestai.net/showthread.php?t=364&page=7&pp=20

as Kauno tikrai negarbinu. Lietuvos niekada neskirsciau i dalis - man visi miestai vienodai brangus kaip Lietuvos miestai. kai pagyvensi ilgiau uzsienyje - suprasi;)

Todel ateity miestui atsigavus ir tuo paciu zmonems keiciantis viskas turetu pasikeisti i geraja puse. :)

He he, no way. :) You need to stay FAR away from that place for a least a week. I'll be there right before Christmas myself. I'm going to be in Kaunas from 20 to 23 December. Maybe I'll be able to post some interior shots.

Now that would be wonderful, Dramblys! :)

I agree with the comments made earlier in this thread btw. The exterior looks a bit boring and certainly gives no hint at the great-looking interior, which I quite like.

From your photos, liutass, it looks like they have quite a bit of work to do in order to be ready by December 2nd. And THANKS! :)

WH, I was thinking the same thing. How are they going to get this all done in a few weeks? I believe that Lithuanian labor laws are a bit different than in the States (maybe less of a Union presence) because I've been amazed at how quickly they finish their projects.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is completed right on schedule.

I agree, the pace at which projects in the Baltic countries are completed is usually

For one thing, they need to pave the parking lot. ;)

And of course it'll be great to see the place ready on schedule! :okay:

You bet... I remember the opening day of "Hyper Maxima" in Kaunas. You couldn't see the interior, you couldn't even walk normally. I needed to use my elbows :D I think "Mega" will be in the same case, only worse ;)
