Weird, theres more renderings of this from ssp that were posted by dylan leblanc,

it would have also the marlins stadium. and is supposedly 2600 feet.

the ballpark does look pimp
but what kind of purpose would that building have? It would over-dominate the rest of the skyline, and probably get in the way of flight paths. Besides, it's ugly & doesn't fit Miami architecture whatsoever.

March 26th, 2005, 02:49 AM
I would say that its a pretty cool concept, but it would never work. The stadium is already worked out for near the Orange bowl, thats not going to change. This building would cost a fortune. I dont think it is 2600 feet tall either, its maybe a little over two times the size of 900 (in the background?) and that is 700 something feet. And those must be some really big trees on the building. Never happen.

I think the concept is pretty good too. The renderings are very nice. Job well done 'Alex Rosman', whoever that is. I like the spires! they're like a good 2/5ths of the building!! It would make an insane impact on the skyline, especially cause you could see it all over the city probably. But it probably wouldnt work. Traffic would be beyond bad and its just too tall to be functional it seems. We can always dream though...

It looks great, It'll be a great addition to the skyline, The signature building Miami needs. Chances of happening?? very very slim, but who knows maybe someone outthere is thinking on something over 1000 ft. Let's keep our fingers cross.

If the FAA is sooo stringent, why would anyone waste their time designing a structure that would never be approved? It seems like a waste of time and $$. Otherwise, regarding design, its no more of a drastic departure from the rest of Miami's architecture than the WTC was from Lower Manhattan, or the Hancock was from the rest of Chicago. I wish they would build it-- it just doesn't seem probable.

VERTICUS! was built and then quickly imploded one sunny October afternoon. We shall never forget her.

It is a strategy for a developer to make a name for themselves to say that they are going to build the tallest building ever.

No truer words were ever spoken, my friend.

Although we all wept when VERTICUS! was reduced to a pile of smoldering steel and glass rubble, the alternative was unthinkable. Larry King could simply not be allowed to rule Miami unimpeded---especially in suspenders and semi-nude on a balcony. Savalas was experienced in covert operations and he came through like a champ.

Yes, VERTICUS! must now rest in our collective 'what might have been' category but when one door closes another opens.

Construction on "Jeannie Tower" (1430 Brickell) starts June, 2010...

More like pure fantasy from my perspective. Would be nice. I don't know about the 7,000 car parking garage that was decribed on one page. YIKES!

Bring on the dancing fountains!

The "Dancing Fountains" are definitely a highlight. The video also makes it clear that this would be free aspect viewable by all.

Picture 'Jan and Dave Omaha' in town for a holiday. Miapolis was a whirlwind for the couple---the experience of a lifetime---but after laying out big bucks for fine meats and cheeses their budget needs a break.

Enter the "Dancing Fountains." All cares washed away in a free, orgasmic frenzy of light and sound.

With the addition of 'Telly Savalas Island' this will be the greatest urban project in history---even greater than the epic and challenging ski slopes of Dubai.

Get lost, nimby's.

The dancing fountains may also be just enough to make you forget that the transit plaza doesn't seem to include any transit.

I also liked how when they were talking about the private beach they showed a couple embraced in the solitude of an empty beach. Bullshit! That beach is going to be tiny and there's going to be THOUSANDS of people on that island. Jan and Dave Omaha may be able to stake out a few square feet for themselves, but not much more.

This appears to be a little more elaborate than a student project though. www.miapolislp.com has a list of partners that, if not just an elaborate hoax, is a pretty solid group.

This proposal is perfect in my opinion; quality design that would bring the world's tallest building back to the US, in Miami, no less, while at the same time being ripe for satire. Few buildings can boast equal levels of architectural and comedic value.

The hard copies of the Verticus business plan was floating around a few years ago and followed the same formula as the Miapolis project. Looking at the Verticus plan, it appeared that the creator(s) had covered nearly all the bases; architects, financiers, engineers, sales & marketing, environmental, traffic studies, etc.
Given all the private/pubic interaction necessary the plans would never fly. But they are good plans, and thorough.
People spent a great deal of time to create them...That can mean only one thing...the plans were created by idealistic students under age 30!!!

I'm a Business Major, and just the fact that they have a section on the website called "Business Plan" and the different sections like "economic impact" makes it look like a school project. Pretty good one at that! Like someone else said, maybe graduate school. They always make us do this kind of stuff for my classes, find out all the different aspects of creating a fictitious business.

Although this looks nice and everything, it's just too much. It's redundant. Let's say this is far in the future, it would be better situated somewhere inside the ocean, as the technology becomes safer for underwater living.

It doesn't make sense anymore to separate them like this, since the latest plans call for one to be built on top of the other. Financing is already in place, and once the developers can figure out which will be the top and which will be the bottom, they will break ground. They're seeking suggestions for names for the new project right now, as well....
