I was just wondering what Shanghai looked like in the early 1990s. I found out that a lot of its building were built in 1996 onwards.

I have a tour book from 1995 that shows the Pearl TV tower and almost nothing else for a skyline. There are a couple of mid-rise buldings scattered around but it looks really sparse and dirty. What a big difference a decade can make. :)

Does anyone have that pic of Pudong in 1990 with date written in big digits "1990"? It was somewhere on the net and I can't find it now...

This seems to be a picture of Shanghai in 1990. This is a view from Puxi to Pudong. Notice how none of Pudong's skyscrapers have been built yet.

Yeah this one shows the situation pretty well, although there was a bigger picture showing Pudong only. Just incredible how things can change in just more than 10 years.
