I was discussing the German Forum when I was relatively new last October about the founding of a Swiss Forum. But after the experiences of our German and Austrian friends and how "successful" their forums were we let fall the idea. But then Kampfy I think came up with the idea of an "Alemanic" Forum (Swiss, Austrian, South Germans). But somehow the idea got lost in the discussion about closing the German forum down.

Clear we don't have that many skyscrapers - but a lot of international working architects for centuries :cheers:

not many people participating? that's quite a surprise I think, since there's much to talk about in the german-speaking countries.

I still think that we should pursue the idea of having a Swiss Forum in the future or we merge with the Austrian Forum. Combined forces like Euro2008.
Unfortunately little highrise activity in Switzerland, but there would be so many interesting construction projects around to cover: Sihlcity, MaagTower, the new Stadiums in Zurich, Daniel Liebeskind new Shopping Mall project outside Berne, Serono HQ by Murphy Jahn in Geneva, Residential Tower beside the St. Jakob Park in Basel etc. :cheers:

i find it cruel that people could be lucky enough to be born in places like zurich, while others (including myself) are stuck in ugly, unknown cities.

I was not at all born in Zurich (as most of its inhabitants I guess), but if you want to study or look for a wider flield of work it's the place to go finally as in every other country. First the students go from the countryside to live in Zurich (in the city proper ever second household are singles!) and when they make some money they move to the suburbs - means they use the social state of the city first and then to pay less taxes move to "cheaper" tax places in the metro as Zug, Pfäffikon or the Gold Coast.

Although I love the city and think it's one of the nicest places in the world there are also some negative aspects - as the conservative cold (Swiss) people and the ones that have nothing better to do than complain about everything without realizing how good they have it. From this point of view I prefer cities like Sao Paulo...

I don't like the idea of an "Alemanic Forum". Do we really have that much in common with Germans? And in my opinion, threads about Munich should be posted in the German forum. Our own forum would be great! =) May we apply for that?

It absoltely depends. I was born in Zurich and grew up here as well. So, I'm sure that the menthality in Zurich is one of the best in Switzerland in that point. There are everywhere people complaining about everything, especially in central Europe. But my generation is great and there will be a changement in Swiss society.

I hope so :) I didn't mean Zurich in particular but Middle/Northern Europeans generally. But what I like the most in my city is its internationality - and the public transportation.

About the Swiss Forum: I really tried to start a motion about it (I even offered myself as mod ;)) in October, but the feedback was a bit thin... :( But nonetheless I am still interested in the idea...

I wonder BTW when we will finally have a Swiss city in the header!!!??? Some towns and countries like Mexico, Argentina, Spain and the Baltics are much too overpresented imo :( Is there no mod around that can once show some lesser known cities than BA, MC and HK? What about (apart from Switzerlan) Austria, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, and especially African cities??????
