sirhc8 April 4th, 2005, 07:48 AM Brilliant diagram!
Makes me awfully depressed about the height differential between Sydney U/C and everywhere else though.
CULWULLA April 4th, 2005, 08:00 AM ^ yeah i agree!
but 2006, melb will only have 1 UC over 150m.(Verve).
Queensland from 2006 will have tallest in the country UC.
Its hard to believe that Brisbane in 2006 will have the tallest bldg uC (246m Vision).
GC will still have 219m Circle & 240m soul UC. Q1 will be already getting its 1000 beds soiled.
As for Sydney, John Boyd will be our tallest Uc at 188m, and thats not even with a spire, lol.
sirhc8 April 4th, 2005, 08:12 AM and hopefully we'll be looking at plans of scrapers for the Stevedores site. Maybe a few over 250m.
CHapmaN April 4th, 2005, 09:18 AM riparian and aurora remind of the late WTC in that diagram, lol
geez the GC is breeding like rabbits, and eureka looks fuckn HUGE compared to everything else apart from Q1.
good stuff cul, very inventive ;)
James Saito April 4th, 2005, 10:11 AM If they were all built in the same city, we could have a city like Hong Kong in Australia in a couple of years!!
Proud_Melbournian April 4th, 2005, 11:16 AM australia should like build all of those at like Alice or something...to give us an awesome inland city!
Wezza April 4th, 2005, 02:18 PM Goran, is that you? lol :)
JayT April 4th, 2005, 02:21 PM Wow! Look at all that Yellow!
There isn't much happening in Brisbane - Yet, come next year hopefully there will be a few more.

JayT April 4th, 2005, 02:24 PM If they were all built in the same city, we could have a city like Hong Kong in Australia in a couple of years!!
Imagine if they were all built on that new land out at the Port of Brisbane, jutting out into the bay...

Proud_Melbournian April 4th, 2005, 04:34 PM melbourne is doing good for 2005, it has alot of variety height wise..pity that it is probably going to stop after this year or so. 2005 was like a skyscraper boom for melbourne! :)
CULWULLA April 5th, 2005, 01:08 AM ^ i think i worked out once that Melbourne has had 40 skyscrapers built since 2000, double that of Sydney.(Sydney had its boom late 90;s.
so the boom has been for past few years and winding down 2005.
CULWULLA April 5th, 2005, 01:33 AM checkout 2006ish!
gone are Eureka,FWP,SX,UWS,E&Y,RDT, Vic pt ect for melb.tallest uC will be Verve & Milano. Ive added also Neo 200 on spencer.
Sydney has BT removed plus some smaller ones. John Boyd tower has been put in!
Q1 has gone and Air on BB, replaced with Soul!
Vision has replaced Riparian & Aurora. many 140-160m towers also added.
Adelaide same, perth has Condor added.

Redress April 5th, 2005, 05:36 AM It is inevitable that Sydney will come around again with quite a few talls in the next few years.
BrizzyChris April 5th, 2005, 06:52 AM GC is just staggering! Anyone unfamiliar with Australia would think it had 3 million people.
CHapmaN April 5th, 2005, 07:50 AM love your work, cul
aussiescraperman April 5th, 2005, 10:59 AM that's sad for melbourne, hopefully some new projects start to unfold in 2006, that would be cool..if it only had demand liek the gc, it would be a never ending construction site :)

Isn't that called dubaism? ;)
Just be happy with what Melb has to offer now, it will be a few good years until we see such a drastic change in the skyline again.
Perhaps the start of Prima will kickstart the next cycle! Whose up for a 350m+ monster? Along with a few extra 250m+ towers to even up the skyline!

At least Melbourne will go through a short period where it will seem like the work has been "finished". I mean in Brisbane and GC there is no end to the construction, there is no time when we can say "its finished - isn't it beautifull" because its never finished. Its good but frustrating at the same time. Its like living in a house that is constantly under renovation, construction can be great but sometimes I imagine all the projects are complete and what it would look like - which is never going to happen.
Yes I know - I'm rambling...
jt
Malt April 6th, 2005, 06:49 AM Apart from the fact yes, you were rambling lol.
I agree with u on 1 thing. I like to look forward to what the skyline will look like when its finished. But then im just like "but what about Xproject which is starting after.."
Grollo April 6th, 2005, 08:19 AM The last digram depends on when in 2006 it is taken from.
In Melbourne by the end of 2006 I would expect at least two more large apartment towers (FWP2, Little Collins Street, Savoy Tower, Prima...) and maybe one more large office tower in addition to a few other smaller towers to be U/C (YE6, Village Docklands 2, another Spencer Street Tower, a couple of southbank towers...) after an apartment marketing biltz during the commonweath games.
BrizzyChris April 6th, 2005, 08:30 AM Brisbane will seem "finished" when no more new tallests get built in prominent positions (even if there is a lot of construction right in the middle of the CBD). From Kangaroo Point, a 40 storey could be U/C near the transit centre, but from KP the skyline would look complete.

don't forget Shangri La in docklands...180m (61st)

The last diagram clearly states April 2006.
Wezza April 6th, 2005, 01:15 PM ^ Lol. Well thats solved that then!! :)
Citystyle April 6th, 2005, 01:18 PM I hope Swan is UC by 2006
Perth4life05 April 6th, 2005, 01:21 PM hmm, will the swan panorama towers be undercontruction in 2006?
Wezza April 6th, 2005, 03:35 PM I think that is the question on quite a few peoples lips........
aussiescraperman April 6th, 2005, 09:02 PM hey, does anyone knwo what the GDP per Capita is for all Australian cities ,seperately???
sakor1 April 7th, 2005, 05:17 AM You might be able to find that at ABS...
Stu
ParraMan April 9th, 2005, 11:10 PM hey, does anyone knwo what the GDP per Capita is for all Australian cities ,seperately???
I've tried to find that out myself with the abs previously, but could only work out gdp/capita for the states and territories. Maybe it is available on paid subscription (which I of course don't have :bash: ).....
Would be interesting to see.
On topic though, thanks Cul for your work, excellent as always. I'm probably not paying enough attention lately, but didn't realise so many of Melbourne's projects were coming to an end... Hope to see some more in the diagram by the time we get to April 2006
Trances April 10th, 2005, 02:20 AM great work as well !
GC + QLD appears to over powering us all really in those
NailZ May 31st, 2005, 04:51 AM Very frustrating here in Perth at the moment. Decent proposals are few and far between (esp. for Business-Use contruction). And the few promising looking proposals, Swan Panos, Cinema City etc seem to be bogged down in red tape...
Im mean we're currently experiencing a huge boom in the resources sector over here, but this has yet to have ANY impact on our skyline. Very dissapointing. Qld is experiencing a similar boom and I dont think they can complain about the current contruction status atm :)
MILIUX June 4th, 2005, 06:02 AM Sydney's construction activities looks so depressing. Shame shame shame.
