Who the hell is the pope?
The Pope is leader of the Catholic Church, the world's largest group of Christians.

Pope John Paul's body has been carried by pall bearers in a procession though the Vatican's Apostolic Palace on its way to St Peter's Basilica, where it will be put on public view.

The procession on Monday of cardinals, bishops and dignitaries snaked its way slowly through the Vatican's frescoed hallways and down stone stairways.

The Pope's body lay on a red velvet litter. It was carried by 12 ushers who had served him in the Vatican and was flanked by Swiss Guard in ceremonial uniform.

The body was preceded by monks carrying lit candles to the sounding of the chanting of the "Lord have mercy", sung in Latin, and a ritual litany asking all the Saints of the Church to pray for the deceased.

It was due to leave the Vatican though the city-state's huge Bronze Door entrance and be carried through St Peter's Square, where the body will lie in state until the funeral on Friday.

Tens of thousands of people were lined up on the broad boulevard leading to the basilica, most waiting for hours to pay their respects to the Pontiff, who died on Saturday.

The Pope flies over Bavaria and 2 days later the country is flooded. Coincidence? I think not, especially considering that he flew right over his hometown at a pretty low altitude (and that area was devastated later on).
