There are some great looking buildings there! As well as the tallest one, there are several other unusual, very impressive skyscrapers. Unfortunately lots of ugly, non-descript apartment blocks and older office buildings, but thankfully, none of them dominate the skyline. Overall, a great skyline that's better than I was expecting. 8/10

The first time I set my eyes on the skyline... I thought of 2 things... One was that the skyline had a lot of cool buildings, and 2, it had a lot of uglies! But... since it has height and density... it gave the city an overall positive score.

spectacular esp at night. though the nice scrapers are really great, they float on a sea of not so beautiful high rises. kinda destroys the beauty. but it IS really dense. and the greenery is cool.

i must be honest i gav it a low count, 4.5, i love shun hing square, it is really cool, but other than that the skyline does nothing for me, its too, mixed up, and they got those 2 supertalls, and lightweights, between them, not to mention it's all very uncoordinated looking imo, fill the skyline in with some 700+ and 800+ fters, ALOT OF THEM, and then i will get back to you with a 7.

Wow, this city, I been there about 10 years ago, and during that time, it was nothing but just old shophouses, and several buildings here and there. It was like a backwater town. But, now, look, it is so amazingly different, so extremely beautiful!!..Beaitiful buildings everywhere, I guess that's what frantic growth does to you, construction everyday, 24-7. It is certainly one of the best cities in China, probably even comparable to Shanghai and even Asia. I give it a high 9/10

Why an eiffle tower. its like an original copy of the eiffle tower :bash: I hate that. Cant they come up with there own ideas. BTW how tall is it, looks really tall though.

10 - One of China's best skylines and a personal favorite. IMO, it looks even better than Guangzhou.

Shenzhen is one of my favourite cities - its just so exciting.

I remember the first time I ever saw it, it just blew my mind. I mean I knew it was there, I knew it was a Special Economic Zone and that a new city had grown up there but..... To me a Special Economic Zone simply meant a lot of metal bashing sheds producing cheap consumer goods. I was just totally unprepared for the reality.

Theis was especially as we went there by KCR from Hong Kong and than caught the Shenzhou? railway to Dongguang. This means the firat I really saw of the city was from the train window. I thought at the time "My God this makes Britain look like the Yeman" The whole experience (along with Hong Kong) profoundly changed how I view modern architecture and modern city planning - which puts me completely at odds with 99.99999% of the Uk population.

I have a question. In Oct 04 I took a the Shenzhen Macao coach. As we were pulling out of the Main City area running West on the Expressway by the Bay Shore line, I saw a massive building under construction to the North of me. It was (or looked) a Black colour and although not many stories high, looked the biggest building by ground area I had ever seen. I have no idea how many stories or towers were planned to go on top of it. Does anyone have any idea what this building is or have any pictures of it?

I have seen a fantastic looking building in Post 129 which looks as though it could be it at a much later stage of construction - the building I saw had no towers at that point.

I can see there are cranes everywhere. Shenzhen is very much developed now and the city has never stopped to improve its skyline. This city is unbelievable indeed. :eek2:

No kidding, I think it was a small fishing village prior to 1980, and then it started to grow like a wild conflagration. Just an amazing city, considering all the factors that have impeded and hampered its growth.

Shenzhen is an undervalued city, its name is always under the shadow of Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong and even Guangzhou in and outside of China. But if people look at its developing history and current skyscrapers (as what this forum is about), and look at its big plans for next 3 years, it well deserves a 10/10. Go Shenzhen!
