I figured this was the best thread to do it in. The MacArthur, 826, and pretty much all bridges to Miami beach connect to Collins with flyover ramps. This is very advanced for an oceanside community. You got no idea. In fact, Broward is catching on and I think Hallandale Beach Blvd. just got converted as well. This really seals the deal (short of mass transit rail) that Miami metro is the real thing when it comes to a metropolitan urban area. Sorry, no pix. Unfortunately FDOT is planning on tearing down the flyovers. The flyover on 63rd ST will be the first to go. Aessotariq April 7th, 2005, 09:28 PM I believe it's just the old flyovers that don't meet new highway standards that are being torn down, namely the Macarthur and 63rd Street flyovers, which are old, narrow, and dangerous (though I haven't actually heard that they are planning to tear down the Macarthur flyover yet)... I'm disappointed that FDOT decided against replacing the 63rd Street flyover with a newer one like the Hallandale Beach Blvd or William Lehman Causeway flyovers. miamitom April 7th, 2005, 10:04 PM Beach access flyover ramps: I needed to comment on this. Recommendation #1 they had for the area was tear down the flyover. In North Beach, it was the residents and businesses that wanted to keep the flyover but FDOT prefers at grade intersections. Roark April 9th, 2005, 08:51 PM If you are into highways, here is nice pic that I took of the boat that almost took my head off whilst biking on the MacArthur (I-395)...I went home grabbed the camera and came back. My friend submitted the first one to Southern Boating magazine and it got published. http://www.restainer.com/skyscrapers/purrserverence2.jpg http://www.restainer.com/skyscrapers/purrserverence1.jpg nimbyhater April 9th, 2005, 09:12 PM i understand why they would wanna tear down the flyover, that thing is crazy, not safe at all... still kinda cool tho what i dont understand is why they wouldnt try to rebuild it in someway... i can imagine what traffic is gonna be like without it, i mean, its a nightmare already, imagine wat its going to be now that ull have to add a light for left turns i remember when that hpnd, wats supposedly a setback for the miami-key west ferry, does any1 no watever hpnd to that, i assume its up and running by now, is it successful? ChuckScraperMiami#1 April 9th, 2005, 09:23 PM Roark :) , was'nt that the Police Officer that wrote you a ticket after you took the second picture of the officer and he warned you to stay away when you took the first picture of the boat and your vehicle was blocking traffic, lol !!! MIAballinboi April 9th, 2005, 11:39 PM lol great pics |
