Glasgow Tower

The tallest building in Scotland was built as part of the glasgow science centre complex for the millenium.

U like?

Not only the tallest building in Scotland, but the world's tallest and only structure capable of rotating 360 degrees. :)

I like this building, especially when it works. Looks very futuristic and aerodynamic. Compliments the science centre and I-Max well.

Modern and sleek. A bit wide at the base but I agree that it compliments the Science centre and I-max well.

Its a superbly aerodynamic structure that revolves so it always faces into the wind.

Truely an innovative piece of engineering.

And at 436 ft, quite a sizable structure no matter where in Britain you are. Looks great at Night too.

Thanks to Gleegieboy for this pic:

stunning design, but the engineering although revolutionary is a bit cranky at times. mind you many other things that push the envelope say the same thing.

are there any pics of it's rotating base? or inside/at the top?

It's all good and all but what is its purpose? 8

The point is that it is an engineering masterpiece. It is a tourist attraction and a great part of glasgow and the science centre.

It's an observation tower.

8/10 Nice, is it 436ft to the observation point or to the top of the spire anyone?

Excellent piece of engineering in a perfect location, the lighting scheme is a bit of a let down , 9/10

It may be an engineering feat, a design masterpiece and dum de dum de dum but to me personally it has no real wow factor... looks to me like a space age step ladder

Boooo.... :)

It may not be the most exciting tower in the world, but its a damn sight more interesting than the BT Tower in Brum and the Radio City Tower in Liverpool.

You are right though - it could be bigger and flasher. It does look better in person, though.

Yeh, I hear ya.. just personally I'd be more likely to go 'ooooh' at the cinema (is it?) and the shiney lil buildings in that quarter more than the tower..

Personally I like the science centre building the best as the wall on the opposite side from the picture below is made completely from glass.

Doesn't the tower rotate fully? Or able to?

Hmmm, nice but it looks like, and seems to be the sort of thing they stick on top of tallish buildings to make them the tallist in the city or whatever. In some ways the Birmingham BT tower has a simple pure beauty because it was desgined to do a function, rather than how it looks.

Well, that's what I think anyway. I'm usally wrong.

It looks pretty industrial, but the spire and setting save it... 8/10
