Oh God, cyrillic...my eyes burn... ;) Hehehe, kidding.

It's a nice little town.

What's the main industry there? Is it doing well?

What's the main industry there? Is it doing well?

The main company DESTILACIJA, had realy made Teslic grow into a City. At that time it was the first plant for chemical conversion of wood by the process of destructive distillation in the Balkans.:)

Teslic also has many other companies, shops, Cafe's after Cafe's... Tourism is also an industry, majority comeing from Banja Vrucica.. The City is doing O.K. Obviously nothing compared to what it used to be. :)

It was a joke between my friend and I, hence the "Hehehe, kidding" that you cut off the end when you quoted me. ;)

It's not really any of your concern. :) I know Yugoboy doesn't hate me, or my people, and I'm sure he knows I do not hate him, or his. Perhaps your problem is more internal than it is related to me? Must be frustrating to be living in BiH for people with your views... ;)

And how did you get un-ignored from my username anyway?

Anyhow, problem fixed. ;)

Welcome To Teslic

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_6362643138323563.jpg
The first thing you see when you come to Teslic is this sign :)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_3062376230326134.jpg
On the way ot the city center you will see many new/old companies (this one was recently built)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_3835636535343965.jpg
The first main building you will see on your way to the city, is this Bus station

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_3936393631346538.jpg
Then you will finally reach the city, by crossing the City Bridge over the Usora river.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_6339643962346537.jpg
The Usora is the main river that goes through the Municipality

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/x1pbglk-vqL4BtfEm114g31k9RG6rIFOkRIEYzKFZsBB9j0vxBwuwC18MFUBhXEaBH7ZnvvgOjH4QHjeTu9M5IxYvqK741J9MkrLLi-sexL6jG4QEzKAQGVMg.jpg
while crossing the Bridge you will see some older houses, built by the Austrians.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/x1pbglk-vqL4BtfEm114g31k9RG6rIFOkRIEYzKFZsBB9hremaBxGW0rdJ5fYV_llLUvKEosreZ8jUwIXU76dlqmbVJ1UT2XMt2Jhx2A_ue1C3n86Gw3oxq7A.jpg
Once crossing the bridge, you ether go to the main street or the old colonial area. This is the colonial area. MOstly older buildings built in the 1800's.. but as you can see on the left some new buildings are being made.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_3161383466336464.jpg
Once you leave the colonial area, you will be at the main street. This street is usualy lively, with people cafe's .. unfortunetly i only have these pictures :sleepy:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/yugoboy/400_3533666336333761.jpg
The old catholic church is located on the main street, it is somewhat of a symbol to the city.

Yeah...What a great sense of humor. :| As you see...She said, "hehe, just kidding". Your thoughts about here telling lies and infront of the computer "hidding" here real thoughts is complete bullshit, because untill you see here in real life, and watch here TYPE the post and see here laughing, keep your immature comments to yourself. :|

You seriously we all have to understand your Serbian humor, which we have accepted, but then you come and say that she affended you when she even said, JUST JOKING! :ohno:

You've got some serious problems man, and untill you fix them, who's going to even believe you? Personally, I would have you banned like your friend, Duckzilla, since you cheered him on and were right by his side during his stupid opinions that had no real information were expressed.

Keep at it man, one day you'll meet where your friend went...Into BAN-LAND.

Ok, I've said my part, and let's all get together to see his pitiful come back which will take him about the whole day to think of.

Don't bother, Mimica, seriously. :) People like Majevcan want to live in a little Serbian bubble where nothing Bosniak, Croat, or anything else for that matter exists. :)

It doesn't matter what we say - just by BEING here, it is enough to provoke him. Whatever thread we create, whatever we do...he will find something. So why bother? It looks bad on our part to be fighting them back down every time they bait us.

The moderators have obviously wised up to what is happening and it's not our responsibility to change people like Majevcan. If we get involved, then we face the possibility of being reprimanded as well. So just ignore them - it really works!

And RE: Yugoboy's new pics:

Yugoboy, it saddens me to see how run-down things are in the Republika Srpska. In the last few years, you can REALLY see how the Federation is jumping quite far ahead. Of course there are many exceptions - Banja Luka and Doboj being perfect examples, Mostar an opposite example from this side - but it's still, overall, becoming painfully obvious.

I truly pray the RS cooperates with the ICTY and is freed from these sanctions before the nationalists manage to use this suffering to pull even more minds to their fascist way of thinking. Things have calmed down so much in the cities that are doing exceptionally well, Yugoboy...I really believe the two are related.

I had a point when I started, I swear I did - hahaha. I guess I'm just trying to say that I'll cross my fingers for you, and pray that everything works itself soon with your people in mind. :) Promise.

mila,

I really don't think Federation is that far ahead.. Sarajevo yes. But i don't know.. I just want Bosnia as one country not federation or RS. If they were unified things would be better for both. Teslic in those last pics doesnt look so good becaouse of the weather.. but I SWERE when i get pictures of it on the summer time I will prove you wrong!

Actually, Yugoboy, I already believe you. I've seen many pictures of Sarajevo, and other cities around the world, that have looked horrible because of the weather.

I agree - I simply cannot wait for Bosnia-Herzegovina to be completely united again. There is a part of me, of course, that wants it just to spite the nationalists on all sides that want to break it apart.

The larger part of my heart, though, just feels united with these places. It hurts me to think that the village where my parents grew up is a "country" founded by the people who killed them. I can't wait for the country to be reunited, Yugoboy...if only because then it will be okay to feel the way I feel about Banja Luka, Prijedor, Doboj, Trebinje, and other cities. I don't want to be disconnected from them. They're a part of my country, a part of my body, my heritage.

It's like the old Orthodox Church in Sarajevo. It has what is, without a doubt, one of the best collections of ancient Byzantine relics, murals, and other artifacts. I'm so proud of that but there are...conflicting feelings...that end up getting in the way.

I would give my life for any one of the Serbs burried in Bosnian Army cemeteries; those Serbs who died at our side, fighting to defend Sarajevo from our common enemy. For any one them I was crawl in the coffin alive if it meant they could crawl out. I just want to be able to feel this way about everyone, you know?

And for the time being, I cannot.

Its been 10 years after the Deyton accords...is war still the only think you guys can talk about?
Bosnia can't move forward if Bosnians keep living in the past.

You guys need to take some lessons from Serbia...probably the best country at forgiving & forgetting.

And Mila, honestly...i'm a little scared for you. You sound kind of obsessed...with all that "crawling in the grave" stuff.

Oh, yeah...We're always living in the past. ;) :| Bosnia and Herzegovina can move forward, and if you haven't realized, it is moving ahead.

Take lessons of Serbia and Montenegro? :| Sure, how hard is it to forget them attacking a different country? Seriously...Nato could have given you some bombs, but you gave us HELL.

It's good that Mila scares you, since your a Serb, you obviously have "forgive and forget" her quickly, right? :D

Please...Was there a reason for your pitiful post? The only reason I am being this mean, is because you obviously never give Bosnia and Herzegovina the respect that it deserves. :ohno: You respect it, I respect you...

I personally do think that the Federation is a lot father ahead of RS, but that is just my belief. A little correction, WHEN the RS and Federation become unified, then of course there is going to me more peace, and pride. I believe that Teslic looks much better in the summer, since most Eastern European cities do look sort of "dirty" in the winter. :dunno: I can't wait for your pictures, to see some hardcore pictures of Teslic. :D

I really do think that Bosnia and Herzegovina does have the great quality of progressing, as it has been doing, and it will continue if the government keeps going as it is. :)

Teslic must have winter temperatures 30 degrees warming than anywhere else in the surrounding region? :) Really, NO snow in winter? :D I think it might be spring or autumn in most of those pictures.

The Cafe Elite looks nice - are there any other modern buildings in the town?

On a side note...I've noticed this with Teslic, Tuzla, Zenica, and a few other cities - Tito must've been insulted by the streets we named after him. Hahaha. I'm serious. Look up pictures of Marsalatita in Tuzla, it's enough to turn your stomach. :D

I really don't think we can call Teslić - a city. It's one small town in western part of Srpska, near Banja Luka. Yes, it has Banja Vrućica, but that's all. And about it's beauty, for me it's cute small place, but to be honest nothing special. We have many places like that. That new Orthodox church is probably the best thing in the town?

Just maybe 30-40 kilometars to north is town with ~ same population, but much more developed. It's Prnjavor, and I think that Teslić should copy some things from Prnjavor, mostly those things Prnjavor did with it's economy.

I respect your thoughts, but I believe that Teslic is a city. Considering that a city is, "A center of population, commerce, and culture." :) All those things qualify Teslic as a city in my opinion.
Give Teslic some more time, I'm sure they'll have more and more impressive things in the city.
I've really curious about Prnjavor, why don't you make us a thread and post some really nice pictures in it? I'd really enjoy seeing another BIH city on the list.

Boyice, hehehe I really don't know, Banja Vrucica is known for it's Heath, and helping people recover from injuries, and sickness, so I am sure that has something to do with that.

Pavle,

I don't really understand you,

Teslic has always been known as a City, and not many people have ever considered it other wise. It is very young but has accomplished many things in it's history. Banja Vrucica was among the Top 5 Major Tourist Attractions Before the War, and today has commercials, and is again becoming what it once was. Teslic was the First City in the Balkans to have a plant for chemical conversion of wood by the process of destructive distillation. It's Population Before the war was Much higher than it is now, but with the war, it is now only 50,000. Still Teslic is a Very Modern City, and to say that the orthodox church (made in 2003) is the best thing in Town, is very offensive since We have the Historic Liplje Monastery, The Roman Catholic Church, Elite Cafe, Destilacija, Borja ski resort, Stecci, Beautiful Parks, and the Usora river. Teslic is also one of the most multi-ethnic parts of RS. It has several mosques in the villages around it, one catholic church in the city centre, two orthodox churches in the city centre, and countless others around the city. I am also very proud of that, and Teslic has much more to offer.. I will make sure to show it all off!

Mimica,

I really don't see how Prnjavor can at all compete with Teslic.

It really has nothing more, but maybe less than Teslic has. Here is the Site:

My friend, I didn't say anything bad about Teslic. As a matter of fact, I love Teslic. It's one of those "get away from it all" type of cities that still holds itself to being modern. :)
All I said about Prnjavor was that it would be interesting to have a thread about it.

It's normal that Teslić is best place on the world for you, becoase you are from Teslić. I am speaking as a person who visited Teslić, been Banja Vrućica, visited city center and the town is (in my opinion) nothing special. There are many places like. I don't know, I don't see much prosperity in Teslić as I do in some other places like Prnjavor, Derventa or Modriča. Maybe it's becose Teslić isn't on some "hot road" like Prnjavor is (everyone who's going from Banja Luka or Prijedor to east must go through Prnjavor).

I didn't say Teslić is bad town, but I only reacted when you said it's a city. For my beleives it's not a city. Cities are Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Bijeljina, Mostar, Prijedor, Doboj, Novi Sad, Osijek...Teslić is only one small town.

And you asked me (I think...) how can Prnjavor compete with Teslić? Let's start, shall we :colgate:

Town of Prnjavor - 52.559 population!
Town of Teslić - 48.731 population!

Prnjavor:

- excellent economy which is dramatically rising (thanks to Dušanić and all those Prnjavorčani from Germany and Austria) ->*****
- new residental buildings everywhere, population is booming -> *****
- located on most important road in republic, connects Doboj and east with Banja Luka and other western cities/towns -> *****

Teslić:

- enonomy not so great, but it's not worse in republic. I would say - nothing special -> ***
- to be honest there are some new resindental buildings, but only a few. As Borg would was - irrelevant ->**
- locations in good, but town is a bit isolated ->**

Results:

Teslić - 7 stars!
Prnjavor - 15 stars!

I guess that Prnjavor is simply too big bite for Teslić. I don't know did you ever visited that town, but you should. I used to be there 1-2 months ago and I couldn't recognize it (I were there also 4 years ago since my last visit). For 4 years town exploded! Teslić did not!

Pavle,

I never Said Teslic is the best place on earth! I just wanted to show people what a Small City Like Teslic has to offer! If you have been to the City Centre and Banja Vrucica, I am sure that was nice but even that is not all it has. Teslic is one of the biggest Municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the Biggest Village in BIH, Cecava. So Teslic is not only That small part you have been to.

All these great things you say about Prnjavor seem to be wonderful and very amazing since the rest of RS, really doesn’t have a great economy it seems amazing to me Prnjavor has an "excellent economy which is dramatically rising"
and you write there are "some new residential buildings, but only a few." yes, there actually in the past year have built several, and there are more plans to build. You have forgotten to add about all the new Cafe's , and businesses that have since been made in Teslic, and that all the important meetings Banja Vrucica has held, along with Sports and Cultural Events! Teslic is also on a Road to Banja Luka, and Doboj, Two Major RS Towns! (Scrole down to the map of BIH)...now listen I could spend days writing about how Teslic is better than Prnjavor... but this thread is not about that, you can make a Teslic vs. Prnjavor Thread if you like and than prove to me all these wonderful things about Prnjavor, but my Thread is about Teslic, and only Teslic! :D ahha

BTW, What do you have against Teslic, that you had to bring up Prnjavor is a better City? :)

Pavle
May 14th, 2005, 10:54 PM
Beleive me I have nothing against Teslić! But simply I do not find Teslić to be something special, and for me there are many, many better places in Srpska. Maybe I'm wrong, I would like that I'm wrong. I would like Teslić to be such a great place as you're all saying it is.

Any by the way, my current girlfriend is originally from Prnjavor :colgate:

*Chants* Tesanj, Tesanj, Tesanj!

Hehehe, just teasing, Yugoboy. I actually saw a spot about Teslic on the news a short time ago, and took very careful notice since I now know a Teslican. ;)

It was about how unusual the ethnic relations in Teslic are. It said the diversity in the municipality is among the best in RS with slightly over 87% of the population being Orthodox Serbs - but said that ethnic tension there was the among the strongest in the RS with an "overwhelming majority" of all three peoples in the area - Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs - reporting that they had "no contact" with people from other ethnic groups and the rest reporting "only when necessary".

They compared this with Doboj (excluding Doboj Jug and Doboj Istok) which has one of the worst ethnic diversity ratings (Almost 95% Orthodox Serb) but among the best relations between ethnic groups in the RS with 100% of Bosniaks and Croats reporting "daily contact" with members of other ethnic groups, and an "overwhelming majority" of Serbs reporting "whenever possible" contact with members of other ethnic groups.

In Doboj they also asked another question, and found that almost all Bosniaks and Croats supported "more returns, and new settlement" of Bosniaks and Croats. More than 75% of Serbs supported "more returns" and almost 35% percent supported "new settlement" of Bosniaks and Croats.

The whole premise was in announcing a decision choosing Teslic as a prime target for some internationally-sponsored program to bring kids together through football, mixed-ethnicity children's teams.

Well thanks for Depressing me! :D haha. no actually thank you for the information! Last time i was in Teslic (The summer of 2004) Everything seemed normal, I didn't notice any ethnic tension at all, i passed by the mosque, catholic church with no tension :D hehe or maybe i was just in my own *I wish everyone was Yugoslav LALA Land* heheh.. but it's good they are having a program to bring our children (also Future) together :).

Ok I Have never been so Frustrated.. since the "should I call them Bosniaks, or Muslims" Crissis!

From Serbia to all-America?

Basically it's about a Kid From Teslic, that's really good at BasketBall :D ... but just look how they Describe His hometown... :sleepy:

"Jotanovic was 7 in 1991 when the civil war broke out near his tiny hometown of Teslic, population 5,000. " BULLSHIT! it's 50,000 In the Monicipality and 10,000 in the actual City!

"while much improved over those in Teslic, which didn't even have a throwing circle — were hardly first-rate. He had no indoor space to throw, so in the winter, when Jotanovic needed to prepare for the competitive spring and summer seasons, he practiced outside in the snow. Electricity was unpredictable. So was the heat." ok... Now Teslic is a Third World Village in Nigeria .. :D And there is more Stuff on how good he is but I can't believe those faulse and Negative statements were said!

Excellent update Yugoboy. :) I really enjoy seeing more new pictures of this great city. I just want to see some more of the actual downtown instead of nature.
Nature is great, but there is something about developed areas that really makes the difference. :)
Teslic must be the most beautiful in the fall. Seeing all those colours in random areas of the city, with nature everywhere would be great.
If possible, I'd like to compare this picture in the winter, summer, and fall. :) It would be absolutely stunning.

As you can see, there is no Major Difference between Teslic's main part of Town, and the Rest of it the Town. The Streets are lined with Tree's, behind them either Commieblocks, Old Austrio-Hungarian Houses, or New "Suburban" Style Buildings. :)

I've got some questions about Teslic. :)

Is the population of the city increasing or decreasing? At what rate?
What are the majority of projects like in Teslic? Offices, residentials, etc?
Does the city have decent nightlife? What do you usually do?
As a resident of Teslic, do you notice any changes to the city due to the economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina? For example, in one year, do you notice many things that have occured in the city, such as new businesses coming in, or just cleaning of the city?

I also like to agree with that. Teslic is probably one of my favorite cities in RS, and that is a honest answer. There are many cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina that construct many modern buildings, and forget about the past. Teslic is one city that I can see getting more modern, yet still maintains it's "easy" feeling and comfortable life. :)

I found this article, and even though it is older (1996) I think it explains what war was like in Teslic. The actual City, not the whole Municipality.

Along an Ethnic Fault Line, Bosnians Fear Hard-Liners
By MIKE O'CONNOR

RKOTIC, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- A fearful young Muslim couple arrived here this week, fleeing their home to escape what the United Nations is calling the worst "ethnic cleansing" since the Bosnian war ended.

They also left behind a town full of Bosnian Serbs who feel nearly as frightened as they do, many of whom say they are sad to see the harsh face of Serbian xenophobia finally confront their Muslim friends and neighbors.

For Sabahudin and Murisa Huskic, who survived three years of repression in a town under the thumb of Serbian hard-liners, finally joining the sad ranks of Bosnia's dispossessed is a personal tragedy.

At least 100 Muslims have fled the Teslic area in the last few days, terrified by a wave of violence that included beatings and hand grenades being thrown at Muslim homes, according to the United Nations.

The inability of international troops, monitors and relief agencies, or even sympathetic Bosnian Serb neighbors, to protect these people exposes the fundamental weakness of the peace plan here, with its vision of an ethnically mixed, reunited Bosnia.

For months Teslic has been routinely patrolled by fiercely armed NATO troops in menacing convoys, and its local police officers are watched by United Nations monitors, but the power to terrify and control seems to remain in the hands of the same small group as before.

The expulsion attempts are continuing, and refugee officials say they fear there is no way to stop them.

Most of those who have fled are taking shelter in the war-damaged and overcrowded homes of other Muslims in villages like Mrkotic a few miles away, just inside Bosnian government territory.

"It is only a few of the police and a few nationalist thugs who are doing it all," said Huskic, 22. "Most of the other Serbs want peace to work, and they want the Muslims to stay."

But, a few thugs, backed by a few people in power, have been enough to suppress the will of the moderate Bosnian Serbs of Teslic, according to expelled Muslims and many Serbs in Teslic itself.

Huskic and others who fled recently said that the 1,700 or so Muslims who managed to hang on in the area during the war rejoiced with local Serbs when the Dayton agreement to end the war was signed last year.

"We thought, this is the big chance we all want," he said. "The army will go away and the people will have a say, finally." Then, said his wife, Murisa, their hopes slowly slipped away.

"We saw that the men who used to control still had the power," she said. "We saw that our relatives in Bosnian territory could not visit us, that the Muslims who had been expelled during the war could not return, no matter what Dayton promised."

And, according to a number of Serbs interviewed in Teslic, seeking reconciliation with the rest of Bosnia is not to be tolerated by Bosnian Serb officials in control.

Most of the Serbs said they were afraid to give their names, but there was one man who dug into the long narrow shoulder bag still favored by former socialist bureaucrats in Bosnia, pulled out his business card and slapped it loudly on a table.

"This is who I am, and you can tell anyone. We have to stop being afraid."

The card read: Rade Pavlovic, Gen. Manager, Hemijska Industrial.

Pavlovic runs the biggest factory in town, a state-owned wood products plant. He was twice mayor of Teslic before the war.

"It is time, once and for all, to make things clear," he proclaimed. "We cannot suffer anymore under these nationalists. The people have had enough, but they are afraid, they are very afraid."

He said there are some Serbian refugees who have moved into homes abandoned by Muslims and who are not eager for there to be good relations between Serbs and Muslims. But, he said, almost everyone else in Teslic wants the life of tolerance and cooperation they had before the war to return.

He described Teslic and the surrounding area as a police state in the hands of a few hard-liners supported by the highest Bosnian Serb authorities.

"They have the police, the press, the courts," he said. "They have all the power, the rest of us have only the rights they allow."

Pavlovic, with the authority conferred on him as the biggest employer in the area, said he had been successful at protecting the approximately 120 Muslims of the 600 workers at his plant and protecting himself as well.

"My workers tell me, and I tell the nationalists, that the Muslims will stay," he said. "It is one small victory."

He said he had failed in his appeals to NATO forces based nearby and to the United Nations police monitors for help in breaking the control of the hard-liners.

The problem, which the Huskic couple and Mr. Pavlovic say they are only now beginning to recognize, is that neither NATO nor the United Nations, nor any of the other international governmental organizations spread across Bosnia has the responsibility to change an oppressive political system -- or even to protect an individual being forced out.

At times, the agencies seem not even to recognize the oppression.

Huskic said that when he reported to U.N. police monitors that a hand grenade had been thrown at his front door, he asked that his name be kept confidential. Instead, he said, the monitors brought the local police chief to his house and told him to make the report in person.

"I told them I had nothing to report or complain about." he said. "What else could I say? It was probably a police officer who threw the hand grenade."

Officers at the Polish base, who work under the command of the American general responsible for northeast Bosnia, praised the police chief as "a good man who is very open to the people."

Lt. Ryszard Kowalski, who is the liaison to the civilian authorities in Teslic, said he was confident the police were doing everything they could to stop the attacks against Muslims.

Reminds me of Bosanska Dubica and, on the other side, Bosanska Krupa. Very nice to see that there are some people in RS who feel the same as those who stayed in/moved to the Federation, Yugoboy.

Do you know if the moderate Serbs in Teslic have remained in the city? I know, for example, that from Bijeljina and Zvornik there were almost as many Serb residents who moved to the Federation as Bosniaks and Croats.

There was one story I remember on the news - a Serbian family: Grandparents, parents, like six sons, I think two daughters, all married with children - one of their six sons was married to a Bosniak, and her two children were, of course, mixed. And for those three, the whole family of more than 20 moved to the portion of Doboj in Zenica Canton.

There was also a few stories about six/seven years ago from several villages near Gorazde that wanted to separate from Republika Srpska and have international status like Brcko. The request was denied, on all sides - but the residents of one village dynamited a road leading into it from the RS, and built another heading towards Gorazde. :D

I like this article because it talks about how there is Moderate serbs in Teslic, and it really was only "thugs" that wanted to destroy the city. Yes there are Many Moderate serbs living in the city. The only ones that are not moderate are the serbs that have come to teslic, from other cities in Bosnia. They don't even know anything about Teslic, or What Teslic was. I think that is the problem. All real People from Teslic, are moderate because it was always a Multi-ethnic city.

-About what you said for Serbs leaving as much as muslims from Bijeljina and Zvornik to Federation

Why would Serbs leave to the Federation?.. I mean not that big of a difference. Try going to Zenica, Tuzla, and other cities.. see how much they will love serbs.

I'm aware; Ljdia's shared a few of her travelling stories with me. I suppose they decided to take their lumps and stand for their principles. I mean, if I had been living in Zenica during the war, I'd have left - I'd have been driven out probably. :D Hahaha...but I wouldn't still be there today, and I certainly wouldn't have been there in the summer of 1996. :D
