View Full Version : Ive just had a row with some crazy old women
highriser April 6th, 2005, 10:09 AM im am 32 so im not a gobby teenager,,but do people think that SOME old people ,are so bloody rude, and they think they have a right in saying anything they want,,,but as soon a you say something back to them, they scream HOW DARE YOU TALK TO ME LIKE THAT,,,
I have always been brought up to respect my elder's,but the old battle axe ,like the one i encounted this morning needs to be poked in the eyes with a pair of knitting needles
Gareth April 6th, 2005, 10:15 AM Are you going to tell us what happened then?
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 10:30 AM I know what you mean. I respect my elders and all that, but I won't take any shit off them either.
highriser April 6th, 2005, 10:33 AM Well i work in a hospital and im suppose to open the main entance at 8 oclock,at 7.30 this old women (volenteer worker )came barging into the my room going off her head that patients were outside in the rain ,and i should open them doors NOW, my workmate went to open the doors , and i said in jest "tell them to put there brolly's up" she did not see the funny side of this and went into a mad rage,,,i told her to "chill out" and it made it worse :)
Then she started going off her head,"how dare you tell me to chill out" im going to report you,,:)
And yes 30 mins later i was reported ,i went to see my manager (who was pissing herself laughing),,now im filling in some pathetic incident form
Blunther April 6th, 2005, 10:33 AM The old uns are the worst, always pushing in in front of the queue at the bus stop, giving you evil looks for something as innocent as standing and having a fag, or having a laugh. If you dare push in front of them you never hear the end of it.
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 10:35 AM From now, tell such individuals to fuck off. It doesn't matter if you get into trouble, it'll be worth it just for the look on their faces.
Gareth April 6th, 2005, 10:45 AM Some elderly people are hypocritical old gits. They can be as miserable as sin and not show anyone else anounce of respect (definately no one under 50) yet expect YOU to go all out and roll uot the red carpet for them because they're old. You should treat others as you would like them to treat you. I know you don't always get the same respect back off everyone but it saves you from being a hypocrital old coot.
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 10:48 AM Take note Pete Price. All the young people who phone onto your show are NOT obliged to suck up to you while you dig into them. In fact, just shut up altogether and listen to the people who phone in you old grump!
highriser April 6th, 2005, 10:49 AM From now, tell such individuals to fuck off. It doesn't matter if you get into trouble, it'll be worth it just for the look on their faces.
Pobbie i was very tempted to tell her to f*** off , but i think this one would have had an heart attack (well she was in the right place if did  )
Marvell April 6th, 2005, 10:50 AM I had some old bloke just drive straight into a parking space i was paitently waiting for last year. Went over and told him that he should be ashamed of himself and that you'd expect him to have learned some manners by his age. Still didn't get my space back though.
Kara April 6th, 2005, 10:54 AM I get old ladies at my work all of the time because I work in a department store. Yesterday, a lady was returning a shirt that she had bought and said it was poor quality and had stretched and she wanted her money back because she was very dissatisfied. I apologized to her and went to pull out the shirt only to discover it said "stretch" right there on the tag! The shirt had spandex in it. I tried to explain this to the lady, but she wasn't having any of it. She said "That shirt's made in China. It's cheap material. It's not quality. It's not American. It's not as good as American made." So I just sighed and finished the register work and told her to have a nice day.
Blunther April 6th, 2005, 10:55 AM Perhaps we should adopt a maximum age policy like Logan's Run. Preferably not 21 though or I'm fooked.
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 10:56 AM First of all, that old woman's obviously a racist. Shame on her.
Secondly, she falls into the classic "I don't care whose fault it is, I'm gonna moan at the people who work in the store" category of disgruntled customer. Next time tell her to eat shit.
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 10:57 AM Perhaps we should adopt a maximum age policy like Logan's Run. Preferably not 21 though or I'm fooked.
Yeah, piss off you old fogey! :)
Medo April 6th, 2005, 11:00 AM I bet when we get old, we would be more considerate to the younger generation. Or would we? Is this an age thing or are today's old people like that becuase of the way they were brought up?
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 11:02 AM Cos' of the way they were brought up. :D
I seriously worry about ending up like Martin G. And he's only just approaching middle-age!
Blunther April 6th, 2005, 11:15 AM I bet when we get old, we would be more considerate to the younger generation. Or would we? Is this an age thing or are today's old people like that becuase of the way they were brought up?
To be honest, I'll probably be a right bitter old twat and hate the youth of tomorrow with a passion. Can't blame the old duffers really.
Kara April 6th, 2005, 11:17 AM It gets ridiculous though. I could go on and on with stories like that. Just because you're old and had to put up with a lot doesn't give you the right to start handing it out. And there's no excuse for just plain out being rude, no matter what age you are.
JDRS April 6th, 2005, 11:58 AM The thing that annoys me about old people is the way they just stare at you or talk about you, especially at my age, even if you're there. I was on the train once and I knocked my mates bottle of water over and these two old ladies just stared at me and started saying how I had no manners when they knew I could hear. And my nan is always moaning. When I'm an old fogie I hope I'm never like some are today.
potto April 6th, 2005, 12:01 PM well we do live in a very anti-ageing society, there is now no where near the respect that elder people in society once held. We are very centred on youth even if all they do is spout flem. So yeah I can only imagine it will get worse and I wonder how it will feel to be on the margins of society... probably very frustrating!
JDRS April 6th, 2005, 12:02 PM And as for the old lady Highriser perhaps you should have given her something for calming her down or recommended anger-management.
potto April 6th, 2005, 12:07 PM Or you perhaps you shouldnt be so tied to work doctrine and be more thoughtfull to the patients!
highriser April 6th, 2005, 12:14 PM im not anti ageist in the slightest Potto,i have every respect for elderly people , i do think the majority are very nice,, and i am also very thoughtful towards anybody i speak to, i think if you had experienced this mad women at 7.30 in the morning you would feel the same......
Any way since then she as come and apoligised,,,so i'll forgive her (this time :) )
Gareth April 6th, 2005, 12:15 PM Ah, I love a happy ending me! :)
Pobbie Rarr April 6th, 2005, 12:16 PM ^Indeed. All has worked out well for highriser it would seem. Now for kara: kick that old lady's ass!
highriser April 6th, 2005, 12:28 PM ^Indeed. All has worked out well for highriser it would seem. Now for kara: kick that old lady's ass!
i just need a day off now , for all that stress this morning
and yeah kara kick her ass :)
Blunther April 6th, 2005, 12:33 PM Has the old duffer withdrawn her complaint?
If not, nut the bitch.

I didnt say you were anti-ageist I said we lived in a very anti-age society where in the past there was a lot more respect given to elders so surely this must make older people feel very frustrated and marginalised.

Sy April 6th, 2005, 02:42 PM The old uns are the worst, always pushing in in front of the queue at the bus stop, giving you evil looks for something as innocent as standing and having a fag, or having a laugh. If you dare push in front of them you never hear the end of it.
I hate that! Last year I was at the bus station and I had just missed the bus. My mate and I stood outside by the bus stop while we waited for the next one to come along. When it came this old bag pushed in front of me and said that people shouldn't push in front of people who had been waiting for 10 minutes. So I said "what I find ruder is when people push in front of others who have been waiting for 30 minutes". She said "how dare you, I was here before you"
So I said "No you weren't, we just missed the bus 30 mins ago, and we've been stood here ever since, I saw you shuffle up about 10 minutes ago and sit down. If you had been here before us you would have got the previous bus!" She then said "well whatever, it's still rude to push in"
So I said, "yes it is especially when people have been waiting three time longer than you and there is a completely empty bus, we're all going to get seats so what is the point of being so petty and pushing in?" She then just turned her back and started chatting to her friend.
My friend worked at this hotel, he was dealing with a customer when the bosses (elderly) wife. Came over and tried to but in to ask him where her husband was. He said he didn't know but if she just waited by the desk he would find out once he had dealt with the customer. It took him a while to deal with the customer who was asking about booking rooms for a company event. After he dealt with him he went to the desk and the bosses wife starting having a go, saying how dare he make her wait and she ended with the line, "Don't you know who I am!!" he then said, "yeah you're a shrivelled up old prune who aint got long to live!"
He still says the written warning was worth it to see her face when he said that! :hahaha: :hilarious
Frog April 6th, 2005, 08:08 PM living in a retirement community i get to meet lots of old people, the majority of them are quite nice but yes you do get some stuck up rude ones, i was on a bus and sat down when this old man walked on board, there were plenty of seats but another old bloke behind me got his walking stick and prodded me and told me to get and let the other guy have my seat (even though there were other empty seats) then he and this old lady kept banging on about "young uns have no manners these days, no respect" and sometimes its no wonder :)
Matthieu April 6th, 2005, 08:17 PM Was it M. Tatcher?
Lostboy April 6th, 2005, 08:26 PM I don't get this whole "respect the elders" (sounds almost masonic) principle. You should have respect for anyone of whatever age who acts in a respectful manner themselves, being closer to death doesn't entitle you to any great status. Why is it always the useless part of the population (below 18 or above 65) who cause so much trouble for the rest of us?

Lost child, you still owe me a pm.
Infected Flinch April 6th, 2005, 10:00 PM I've told an old woman at work the following:
"I'm sorry but you must have confused me with someone who cares..."
And then walked away, no idea why I didn't get sacked for that one.
DonQui April 6th, 2005, 10:11 PM euthanize the gits :guns1:
Infected Flinch April 6th, 2005, 10:13 PM Woah! Woah! Woah! We're not having any "Harold Shipman" activities on MY watch young DonQui!
DonQui April 6th, 2005, 10:16 PM Who is Harold Shipman?
Infected Flinch April 6th, 2005, 10:33 PM http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial8/shipman/
Read and be amazed that he killed 259 of his patients.
JDRS April 6th, 2005, 10:35 PM Psycho doctor who killed loads of his patients.
DonQui April 6th, 2005, 11:49 PM wow, talk about massive violation of the Hippocratic oath. Jeesh, what a fucker.
dinp April 6th, 2005, 11:50 PM Old people can be lovely. I work in a shop and some of them are fantastic as customers. Patient and pleasant, like it should be.
However, at the other end of the Spectrum there are the old flossies who are easily the most narrow minded rude, racist people on this planet. And they insist on calling me by the name on my badge at work (sometimes i'm Mark). They curse, swear and show unbelieveable levels of discourtesy to those they come into contact with.
A few years ago I was walking through Corby Town Centre on the edge of the footpath. An elderly couple were coming the other way so I stepped to the side as it was clear we both weren't going to fit through the gap. The woman also stepped the same way, to get out of someone elses way, so we were facing each other,
In normal circumstances, this isn't a problem with anyone, you just both shuffle around like twits until you eventually pass each other. Not in this circumstance though. The woman looked at me with the look of disgust and said "Yes you WILL move".
I was astounded! Not usually rude to anyone, I stood my ground, said "Fuck you, cheeky bitch" and abruptly brushed past her.
Cow.
eusebius April 7th, 2005, 12:40 AM what a bunch of grumpy young men you are :D
Lostboy April 7th, 2005, 01:16 AM Well its all right for you, when Granny Van Dutchy gets a bit uppity you can threaten her with the euthanasia clinic, here we have no such come back so the oldies are allowed to get out of control...
DonQui April 7th, 2005, 01:17 AM ^ :hilarious
So are will still not euthanizing the gits? :guns1: :(
mk61 April 7th, 2005, 01:33 AM I get old ladies at my work all of the time because I work in a department store.
In that situation, I'd have told her no. I'd expect if I'd kept polite and kept my wits about me, it would have been worth the aggro. Nothing funnier than seeing a supernaturally serene shop assistant be utterly unfazed by the most furious of customers.
Choice phrases -
'The origin of manufacture is irrelevant'
'The item has performed to expectation'.
'I regret to say there are no grounds for a refund, I'm very sorry'
Infected Flinch April 7th, 2005, 01:49 AM Or my favourite:
"Go back in your cave, and die."
mk61 April 7th, 2005, 01:54 AM That works too

That's grumpy young woman to you, sir!
Unfortunately at my work if the person has the receipt, you have to take it back, no matter what it looks like. Today, a lady brought back 3 black suits, one men's and two women's....all of the tags had been removed and the were creased so you could see they had been worn. The man's pants even had dirt on the bottom of the pants leg. My supervisor was standing right there and made me take them back. The stupid lady even talked about her mother dying only a week ago...conveniently around the time she purchased the 3 black suits.
mk61 April 7th, 2005, 02:04 AM I suppose that returns policy generates more sales than it costs writing off returned goods in that state. Still, that doesnt make it any easier to swallow.
I love arguments.
Toadboy April 7th, 2005, 02:05 AM I can't wait to be old, I'm going to be a right moody arl arse.
JDRS April 7th, 2005, 02:42 PM On the other hand if you are trying to take something back because it's honestly broken, and they refuse to refund you do what my aunt did. When they said we can't take it back she started shouting to people in the shop to leave and how awful the store was. Ten minutes later when the shop was getting empty she got the refund.

When we have customers shouting their arse off, we call the security people down. They always deal impeccably with nasty shits and gypsies
dinp April 7th, 2005, 03:26 PM And they dont usually get their refund!
Pobbie Rarr April 7th, 2005, 06:56 PM Gypsies? :?
JDRS April 7th, 2005, 07:37 PM Dinp are you calling my aunt a gypsie?
