UFO spotted by dozens of Indonesians

JAKARTA, INDONESIA - An unidentified flying object was seen hurtling toward earth Sunday morning close to Jakarta, witnesses told a local radio station.

The object left a tail of fire and dozens of witnesses claim to have heard several loud explosions.

The explosions were heard just west of Jakarta, reports el-Shinta radio. It's not known if the object, possibly a meteor, made landing.

The explosions were heard at around 7:30 a.m. local time.

Police are investigating the incident. The country has been on high alert for fear of attacks by Islamic militants during the holiday period.

Reports are coming in that witnesses had seen a white trail across the sky just before hearing loud explosion in the Jakarta Indonesia area.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A loud noise that several witnesses said resembled an explosion was heard in parts of Jakarta early Sunday. Media reports said a meteor had fallen close to the capital.

Several callers to el-Shinta radio station reported a noise that sounded like an explosion at around 7.30 a.m in western districts of Jakarta. Metro TV station reported that a large object, suspected to be a meteor, had fallen to earth, also to the west of the city.

Indonesia - Villagers living in a remote part of Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi province reported on Tuesday seeing something like a "burning pencil" falling from the sky. Oficials believe it's the first sighting of Italian satellite debris crashing to Earth.

Amiruddin, administrative officer of Muna district, 1 663 kilometres northeast of Jakarta, told the state-run Antara news agency villagers of Marga Karya and Karya Bakti saw the pencil-like flaming object crash loudly into a heavily forested area last Friday.

Their reports of the satellite sighting were delayed by poor communications linking the two remote villages to Muna.

Amiruddin said his office strongly suspected the unidentified crashing object was debris from a satellite belonging to Italy's National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Lapan).

Lapan reportedly issued a warning last month that debris from their space satellite BeppoSAX would probably fall in Indonesian territories along the equator in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku or Papua.

It also warned some of the satellite debris might be toxic, and sightings should be reported to authorities. BeppoSAX, weighing about 1.6 kg, was initially expected to fall to earth on April 19, said Antara. - Sapa-DPA

Yea, but dunno where I read it. I dont think it was specified as UFO, but an unknown flying object, well.. sound good enough as UFO.
