Kitakyushu is a city on the western island of Kyushu (go figure). It's about roughly five hours from Tokyo by train and less than thirty minutes. While it's nowhere even close to Tokyo in terms of skyscrapers and basically everything else, it's a great city in its own self, with many attractive features.
