orulz January 30th, 2008, 08:53 PM Looks like the area has filled in since then!
A NICE COMPARISON:
From top of Landmark Tower in late 2004:
Same position, in January 2007:
Wow, what a difference! I wandered around the Minatomirai area of yokohama back in 2004 and was struck by how empty it was - so many empty lots. Something that particularly struck me as odd was that the shin-takashima station on the minatomirai-sen was surrounded by nothing, for blocks in every direction. I also found it unusual there was a toyota dealership on a surface lot sandwiched between enormous skyscrapers.
Two pictures I took then: (2/13/2004)
From the opposite side of the Negishi-sen embankment:

Vapour February 6th, 2008, 07:22 AM It just started to snow again, the third time this winter.
BrizzyChris February 6th, 2008, 08:26 AM Yeah, but its not sticking to the ground. Just making everything wet.
One question I have: why are there almost no rubbish bins anywhere? The only ones I have ever seen are next to vending machines. Where does everyone put there rubbish??
The Cebuano Exultor February 6th, 2008, 08:31 AM ^^ Pedestrians keep their garbage in their bags and/or pockets until they find a rubbish bin. ;)
As for the household garbage, they place them infront of their houses.
Note: All household garbage/rubbish (placed outdoors) are to be placed inside black garbage bags and are to be properly segregated if they are to be taken by garbage collectors. Failure to do so would mean that the garbage collectors will not collect your garbage.

RyukyuRhymer February 6th, 2008, 05:50 PM today it started snowing a bit all day.. but unfortunately its the gross kind.. very wet and turns into water upon hitting the ground.
nouveau.ukiyo February 6th, 2008, 07:40 PM Last year there was no accumulation of snow in Tokyo, the first time in recorded history (by the way, I think the records only go back to the late 1800s...so I don't mean like 1000s of years ago)

castermaild55 February 8th, 2008, 09:30 AM Odaiba
The name "Odaiba" comes from a series of six island fortresses constructed in 1853 by the Tokugawa shogunate in order to protect Tokyo from attack by sea, the primary threat being Commodore Matthew Perry's Black Ships which had arrived in the same year. Daiba in Japanese refers to the cannon batteries placed on the islands. In 1928, the Dai-San Daiba (第三台場) or "No. 3 Battery" was refurbished and opened to the public as the Metropolitan Daiba Park, which remains open to this day.
From the originally planned 11 batteries, only five were ever finished. The modern island of Odaiba began to take shape when the Port of Tokyo opened in 1941. Until the mid 1960s all except two batteries were either removed for unhindered passage of ships or incorporated into the Shinagawa port facilities and Tennozu island. In 1979 the then called landfill no. 13 (now Minato-ku Daiba, Shinagawa-ku Higashi-Yashio and Koto-ku Aomi districts), was finished directly connecting with the old "No. 3 Battery". "No. 6 Battery" was left to nature (landing prohibited)...........

oriental_horizon February 13th, 2008, 05:09 AM cool. dunno how Tokyo will continue expanding, will it annex new districts from neighboring prefects or reclaim more land from Tokyo bay.
The Cebuano Exultor February 13th, 2008, 05:51 AM will it annex new districts from neighboring prefects
^^ It already has. The Greater Tokyo Area sprawls across the Kanto Plain and engulfing hundreds of small to medium-sized cities.
reclaim more land from Tokyo bay.
^^ The thing about Tokyo's growth is that almost all new developments/construction or redevelopments are happening within the core of Tokyo. But that growth ain't that huge enough to elicit or require new reclamed land in Tokyo Bay. Already, much of rural Japan is emptying out toward the dense cores of major Japanese metropolitan areas such as Tokyo and Osaka.
how Tokyo will continue expanding
In the forseeable future, I don't see Greater Tokyo grow sprawlier still. It'll just grow denser.

You're so right !!
I've spent 2 years in Asia ( South East....Myanmar......Thailand , Singapore , Hong Kong.....) and it is UNIQUE !
The way asians succeeded in organizing their cities ! urban planning and development
Bucharest ( the mayors ) should visit sometime soon Japan and learn the way a City ( Capital ) should be organized !
It should have been done many many years ago ...'89 - '90
Japanese experts ( on the above mentioned field ) have been in Bucharest and made a plan...which NO ONE took into consideration!!!!:ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno:
Imagine that !

But in general, Tokyo is Amazing, the comparison betwen 1977 to 2007 is great.

yup, but the spherical architecture at the foot of the Cocoon is still under construction.
Redevelopments in Shinjuku have come alive again these days.
Among them, 220m residential (nation's tallest residential) in West Shinjuku 5 cyoume has been approved at last!
The construction of 190m residential in West Shinjuku 8 cyoume has also begun!
As for West Shinjuku 3 cyoume, the scheme is now under review.
Former plans are
1. 338m (offfice tower)
2. 245m (residential)
3. 245m (residential)
4. 190m (residential)
but by the proposed revision, twin towers (included nation's tallest office tower) are to be constructed instead.
Besides, new South Tower of JR East at Shinjuku Stn. South Exit was reduced to 180m from 250m in the light of Shinjuku Park.

nerdmania April 12th, 2008, 02:01 AM I think Tokyo is very hygienic, the most technologically advanced city on the whole planet. I love the glitterling neon lights and luxury brand stores.
coldstar April 12th, 2008, 10:11 AM I've just dug up the video vlips of Y.M.O. (Yellow Magic Orchestra), cutting-edge techno band in the bubble era.
They were too genius and too advanced, even today their performances might be the best and we all have to admit this is the Tokyo-style.
I know this is the picture thread of Tokyo, but anyway enjoy legendary Tokyo sounds!

Photobucket is the best, at least for me, easy to use and free. Good Luck.
brianmoon85 April 13th, 2008, 08:00 PM [QUOTE=coldstar;19467021]What music is sutable for TOKYO NIGHT ?
The best music for Tokyo's great night skyline might be M-flo's Love Me After 12 AM (feat. Clazziquai's Alex). The song is AWESOME!!!!

FML April 24th, 2008, 11:51 PM When we talk of Tokyo Bay, we tend to talk of parts like these.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6421/p1000205wm9.jpg
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/7842/p1000204hi1.jpg
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/4940/p1000222pb9.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1488/p1010432rq1.jpg
I do like these parts. My favorite is Mega Web (http://www.megaweb.gr.jp/English/), Toyota showroom with a nice collection of classic cars.
However, I've been wondering about the area next to these shiny buildings.
As you see, there are some islands off shore Odaiba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odaiba), where no one seems to be posting about. So what's really going on there?
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/3884/img2gy0.jpg
As you've already guessed, this is currently reclaimed area. These islands, except of the northern one, are still off limits to public. However, you can join the guided tour provided by the Metropolitan Govt of Tokyo. So why don't I? :) I am much more interested in trash landfilling than in Fuji TV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuji_TV) or Disney Resort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Disney_Resort)! (Okay, it may only be me.) Besides, this guided tour, as an educational (read: promotional) tour for Tokyo residents, is free of charge.
The tour began with a ship cruising. The course was like this.
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/73/img0001mq6.jpg
We borded this boat. Unfortunately, there were no open decks.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2937/p1010137ly1.jpg
First, we see a kind of familiar sights.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6666/p1010404iy8.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1509/p1010393ih4.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/2019/p1010400ff0.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/9581/p1010155bx1.jpg
But we soon get close to the "real port" area.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/9291/p1010178zg6.jpg
Cute giraffs!
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/896/p1010194lu9.jpg
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7062/p1010374yo0.jpg
After the "port" area, we see some different buildings. This is Chubo, short for Chuo Bohatei (http://www2.kankyo.metro.tokyo.jp/tyubou/) (the Central Breakwater). It was a breakwater before. Well, it still is, but it's now a part of the reclaimed island.
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/4572/p1010210vt0.jpg
Chubo, looked from west.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/5986/p1010217kq3.jpg
The coast of the vast vacant ground.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8158/p1010233gq9.jpg
Southwestern tip of the newly reclaimed islands. Actually, this part is not reclaimed yet, so this is just a breakwater now.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/2518/p1010269rp5.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/9093/p1010288ll9.jpg
Southeastern corner.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/3301/p1010294mn1.jpg
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8058/p1010309wu6.jpg
They are making a bridge linking Chubo and Wakasu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakasu). It will be longer than Rainbow Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Bridge_%28Tokyo%29), the guide-san said. (But I wonder who would use the bridge linking two unpopulated area?)
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5840/p1010319uv3.jpg
At the northern shore of Chubo, there were something called "floating docks". I didn't understand what the guide-san explained, but they sure look cute.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/7052/p1010334fa2.jpg
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2034/p1010345ll0.jpg
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/596/p1010353ah3.jpg
FML April 24th, 2008, 11:52 PM After the cruise, we rode on a bus.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1864/p1010444qy9.jpg
We go south from Odaiba, to the island of Chubo.
By the way, I'm fascinated by these huge warehouses, too.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1799/p1010441lq2.jpg
Here we are!
This island, the northern one (Chuo Bohatei Uchigawa Umetatechi, meaning the Central Breakwater Inner Reclamation Area) is now open to public, but it is accessible only by tunnels without pedestrian roads. There is no single private buildings, and obviously, no single pedestrians.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/9520/p1010477hs0.jpg
Entering a disposal plant.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/4466/p1010457ar3.jpg
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/5493/p1010467cu1.jpg
I couldn't take much pics of the plant, because I sat on a sheet on the "wrong side" of the bus. Exciting scenes all happened on the left side.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8018/p1010469ub5.jpg
Tokyo Metropolitan Govt strongly tries to reduce disposals. (That's the point they want to promote by the tour.) Because of the recent law, they now do not take household appliances, although I'm not exactly sure if neglecting is equal to "reducing". Anyway, it means the bulk trashes collected here are now mostly futon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futon) or this one, tatami (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatami).
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/6010/p1010473vf3.jpg
This one seems to be smashed up bicycles.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/3753/p1010472yw0.jpg
Lots of I-don't-know-how-they-function sort of facilities here.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/6803/p1010476yx5.jpg
Because it's close to Haneda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_International_Airport), and because there are no local residents, airplanes frequently fly over here.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/3701/p1010502vo6.jpg
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/8860/p1010503gw3.jpg
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/7137/p1010504ql8.jpg
Now, we'll go over a bridge to the sourthern island (Chuo Bohatei Sotogawa Umetatechi, meaning the Central Breakwater Outer Reclamation Area), a place off limits to public.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1613/p1010483jz0.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6266/p1010511py4.jpg
Ash, mud, industrial waste, soil, waterwork, sewage, leather, construction waste, and sightseeing, this way.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/778/p1010512nb3.jpg
This is a place they are still reclaiming, But the most area is now like a natural hill.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/3496/p1010520ls9.jpg
Feet of that bridge.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7707/p1010529kh4.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6945/p1010530ct0.jpg
We are finally entering the place...
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/9647/p1010541mi2.jpg
Wait, you said asbestos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asbestos)?
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/2554/p1010539vv8.jpg
These pipes eject methane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methane) guses from wastes to prevent potential fires.
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/4246/p1010542yp9.jpg
Unfortunately, we couldn't get off the bus here, so I could't smell how it likes.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/2227/p1010549om6.jpg
Back in 1960s, they reclaimed garbages, resulting the flood of flies. Now they don't, so the main residents of this place are crows, seagulls, and airplanes.
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7397/p1010554ch8.jpg
The place is hilly. The guide-san said this island is the third highest place in the Special Wards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_wards_of_Tokyo).
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5372/p1010561mf2.jpg
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/154/p1010582fk0.jpg
Odaiba on back.
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/7537/p1010587vu6.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/4918/p1010588wx0.jpg
We arrived to the sourthern tip of the island, facing the newly reclaimed zone called Shin-Kaimen Shobunjo (New Sea Surface Disposal Field). We could get off from a bus here. The guide-san said this is the last area Tokyo can reclaim (so you have to reduce disposals).
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5497/p1010616uu5.jpg
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/360/p1010597gr6.jpg
Disney Resort on back left.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/4748/p1010619bp7.jpg
The island is really hilly. The guide-san said this island will become a huge park in future. It seems it's because disposal reclaimed area has unstabilized foundation, so you can't build tall buildings. (Places like Odaiba was reclaimed with normal soil, not disposals.)
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/3955/p1010632lq3.jpg
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/4601/p1010642lu3.jpg
We returned to the northern island.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/9479/p1010660se9.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/4253/p1010661ck5.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1959/p1010676yz0.jpg
The tour ended after watching a short promotional video.
I don't really know about disposal problems or urban planning politics, but the tour was very enjoyable. If "travel" means visiting some unfamiliar places, then this surely was a nice one. :)
Krattle April 25th, 2008, 03:50 AM In a country as small as Japan I would imagine trash problems would be pretty high on the list. I heard that a lot of trash is actually shipped to other countries, but I don't know if that's true.
Songoten2554 April 25th, 2008, 04:19 AM probably for the expansion of the docks area or something like that.
because if that bridge is completed Frieght and workers will use that bridge since its an area not with residential or business.
Momo1435 April 25th, 2008, 07:57 AM I visited the Tokyo Port Museum on the 20th floor of the Aomi Frontier Bldg (next to the Yurikamome, Telecom Center Station) (200 yen)in Odaiba two weeks ago and they have info on all the harbor expansions going on at the moment if you're interested to now more about the harbour.

Vapour April 25th, 2008, 12:51 PM 515 High-Rise Condos Under Construction, In Planning Stage
TOKYO (Nikkei)--A total of 515 condominium buildings 20 stories or higher are currently under construction or being planned as of the end of March, up from 363 a year earlier, according to a survey conducted by Real Estate Economic Institute Co.
Momo1435 April 25th, 2008, 02:04 PM Yes Tokyo can be cheap especially with Euro's, even with it's expensive image. But you can also make it as expensive as you want of course, but that's in most cities.

Jim856796 April 26th, 2008, 07:26 PM On the Emporis website, I looked at a 14-story highrise by the name of Keio Presso Inn Kayabacho. It was cunstructed to substandard designs following pressure from the developers. It lived for only a year (2005-2006). I don't know wht the structure was short-lived.
Songoten2554 April 27th, 2008, 01:31 AM the bus looks futuristic and cool in some ways i think the bus is much colder because of its metal alloy construction.
are they building a platform above Shinjuki Station? kind of the same technique that the West Side Rail Yards was going to be in NYC?
also whats the tower thats in construction there?

Ttokyo May 7th, 2008, 02:45 PM No slowdown in redevelopment of Roppongi
05/06/2008
BY EIJI ZAKODA
THE ASAHI SHIMBUN
A fresh wave of development in Tokyo is cementing the transformation of Roppongi's image from a sleazy playground for wealthy foreigners to their base of operations.
Although high-end shopping and office complexes have been completed in the Roppongi district in recent years, the redevelopment boom shows no signs of slowing down.
The central government's designation of the district as part of an international financial base to woo foreign-affiliated financial institutions has fueled the redevelopment plans.
A project on 8.1 hectares of land was started when a group of landowners and lease holders in Roppongi 5-chome's west section set up a preparatory association in late March. The new project would exceed the size of the 7.8-hectare Tokyo Midtown complex that opened in the same district in March 2007.
Mori Building Co., a leading real estate developer, serves as the secretariat of the association. The project will include office buildings, commercial complexes and residential and educational facilities.
Mori Building in June also plans to begin full-scale redevelopment of a 2-hectare zone in the Toranomon-Roppongi area.
One of the landmarks there will be a 46-story office building with four basement floors. The realtor plans to complete the project in fiscal 2011.
In addition, Mori Building is moving forward redevelopment of the neighboring 4-hectare Toranomon-Azabudai zone.
"Tokyo would fall behind amid international competition unless it fast improves its urban infrastructure," said Minoru Mori, president of Mori Building.
His company is not the only one active.
Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. is working on a face-lift of a 2-hectare plot in Roppongi. The main feature of the project will be a revamped Roppongi Prince Hotel, which Sumitomo Realty bought in 2006.
The central government has designated the area encompassing Roppongi, Shinbashi and Akasaka as an international financial base, along with the area surrounding JR Tokyo and Yurakucho stations.
To promote redevelopment, the government has eased rules on the floor-space ratio of office buildings, allowing for taller buildings to be constructed.
The entities there will also be given preferential treatment on fixed asset taxes.(IHT/Asahi: May 6,2008)
Ttokyo May 7th, 2008, 02:46 PM Fate of Tokyo Central Post Office still not sealed
05/06/2008
BY TSUYOSHI KANDA
THE ASAHI SHIMBUN
Architects, concerned about the capital's relentless habit of tearing down historic buildings to make way for the new, are fighting tooth and nail to preserve the Tokyo Central Post Office, a landmark since the 1930s.
They say the building is an important symbol of Japan's modernist movement and it has to stay.
But the Japan Post Group, which owns the building, wants to demolish it and erect a much taller structure in its place.
Located opposite JR Tokyo Station, itself an important architectural symbol, the Tokyo Central Post Office was completed in 1931, based on a design by Tetsuro Yoshida who worked for the then Ministry of Communications.
The exquisitely designed white building was once praised by the German architect Bruno Taut, who also had high praise for the Katsura Detached Palace in Kyoto, as the embodiment of traditional Japanese architecture.
The Tokyo Central Post Office has also been selected by Paris-based Docomomo International as one of 20 buildings representative of modern architecture in Japan.
For its part, the Japan Post Group is moving into real estate development, in line with its privatization last October. Plans call for building new structures in place of the Tokyo Central Post Office and the Osaka Central Post Office, which was also designed by Yoshida.
However, before it actually begins work on rebuilding the Tokyo Central Post Office, the Japan Post Group asked a committee of specialists for a historic appraisal.
According to sources, the committee came up with a proposal to build a 200-meter tall building that would still retain part of the outer wall of the present structure. Another proposal calls for preserving the existing structure.
In an effort to save the original building, a group of 120 architects and concerned citizens established an organization on March 25 to seek to have the Tokyo Central Post Office designated as an important cultural property.
One idea being pushed by the group is for Japan Post Group to sell the rights to build taller structures to other buildings in the area. The group argues that such a move would involve a much lower business risk for Japan Post Group than borrowing several tens of billions of yen to construct a new building.
The architects' group is now set to join forces with a multipartisan group of Diet members, who are also calling for the building's designation as an important cultural property. Together, they plan to lobby the Japan Post Group, Chiyoda Ward office and the central government.
Due to the relaxation of urban planning regulations around the Tokyo Station area, many buildings built before World War II have been replaced by a series of high-rises since the 1990s.
Among the older buildings that have been torn down are the Marunouchi Building, built in 1923, and the headquarters of the former Japanese National Railways, built in 1938. More recently, the Yaesu Building, completed in 1928, and the Sanshin Building, built in 1930, have also been demolished.
On the other hand, red-bricked Tokyo Station and Meiji Seimeikan, which serves as the headquarters of Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Co., have both been preserved as important cultural properties.
Work has begun on restoring Tokyo Station to the way it was before it suffered damage during World War II. The project was funded through the sale of rights to build taller structures.
Koichiro Kanematsu, an executive of the architects' and citizens' group, said, "If a high-rise was built while only keeping a token remnant of the outer wall, it would be an embarrassing sight for the 'entrance' to Japan."
With a final decision from Japan Post Group expected soon, part of the operations currently handled by the Tokyo Central Post Office will be moved elsewhere in May.(IHT/Asahi: May 6,2008)

They say the building is an important symbol of Japan's modernist movement and it has to stay.
From the architectual point of view, Central Post Office is unworthy of being preserved.
That means that the booming is not over
As for the areas of Otemachi, Marunochi, and Hibiya, the construction booming has not begun yet. Maybe until 2010 or so, the landscape of these areas will have changed completely.
A few days ago, another project was released: The Palace Hotel Tokyo in front of the Imperial Palace is to be rebuilt. Twin Towers!
BTW, did any guys here see yesterday's demonstration march in Central Tokyo (Hibiya, Harajuku, Omotesando, Akasaka...WOW) ?
I've never seen such a huge protest movement in Central Tokyo in the past decade!!
(Indeed, I'm one of the 5000 protestors there!) :)

The Tokyo International Forum (東京国際フォーラム, Tōkyō Kokusai Fōramu) is an important urban landmark in Tokyo, Japan. It is used mainly as an exhibition and concert hall and conference center. One of its halls seats 5,000. In addition to seven other halls, it includes exhibition space, a lobby, restaurants, shops, and other facilities. Designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and completed in 1996, it is famous for its swooping curves of steel truss and glass; the outside is shaped like an elongated boat. Standing between Tokyo Station and Yūrakuchō Station, its address is in Marunouchi, Chiyoda.

benchjade May 25th, 2008, 10:59 PM Kawasaki
Kawasaki (川崎市, Kawasaki-shi?) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan.
It is sandwiched between Tokyo and Yokohama to form part of Greater Tokyo, the most populous urban area in northern Kanagawa. It still exists without its own city subway system, however, the city is heavily rail based. The region where Kawasaki lies was originally part of Musashi Province, or Tokyo region (as opposed to Sagami associated with Kanagawa), as evidenced by the Nambu Line.
The city was founded on July 1, 1924 and was designated on April 1, 1972 by government ordinance.
Kawasaki occupies a belt of land stretching about 30 km along the south bank of the Tama River, which divides it from Tokyo prefecture, with the city of Yokohama immediately to the south.
The eastern end of the belt is flat, and much of it consists of heavily industrialised and densely built working-class areas, centered around JR Kawasaki Station. The reclaimed coastline of Tokyo Bay is occupied by vast heavy chemical industry complexes at the heart of the Keihin Industrial Area.
In contrast, its western suburbs occupy an area of hills known as Tama Hills and are mostly pleasant, often newly developed residential areas for people commuting to Tokyo. Shin-Yurigaoka station on the Odakyū Odawara Line serves as the regional hub of the western half of the city.
Despite its status as the 8th most populated city in Japan, it is often seen to lack an identity (and certainly a true city centre) of its own, due to the fact that it is effectively part of the huge Tokyo-Yokohama conurbation.
Kawasaki Lazona Plaza
LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza (ラゾーナ川崎プラザ, LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza?) is a Shopping mall in Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki, Japan. This mall connected by west side Kawasaki Station.

It's nice see Tokyo night pic in a big poster *__*
But..the movie was filmed in Tokyo?
Ryuhei June 2nd, 2008, 10:06 PM No, it was filmed in US cities (New York?) and Hong Kong, but for whatever reason, the international poster shows batman in Mori Tower
Skybean June 3rd, 2008, 02:38 AM Hong Kong also has a poster:

I hope that this project would liven-up that particular part of Sumida. It could very well be another "Roppongi Hills-ish" lifestyle district once the tower's complex is fully-operational.
