Which mode of transport do you recommend? Should I take the bus, taxi, train or ferry? Yes everyone has to pass through immigration there are no exceptions but i dont think you need to get a visa to enter Malaysia. All you need is your passport JustHorace April 26th, 2006, 05:02 PM Yeah, I'm travelling between ASEAN countries anyway. Well, thanks for the info. Is the immigration before or after you ride a bus/train? I believe there are specific terminals that cater only to Malaysia-bound buses and trains, right? FreedomCall April 26th, 2006, 06:53 PM That's what I did: Board a bus in Singapore to Malaysia. First stop at Singapore Woodlands Immigration. Get off the bus, into the building, show them your passport - really fast normally, only Malaysians and Singaporeans have to wait normally, there's an extra lane for foreign passports. Out of the building get into the bus again, over the Causeway, and leave bus again. Into the building once more, show them your passport (Malaysians are fast this time, they have special electronic lanes but oh well...*gg*) Done. You may now either board the bus again to go to you final destination (Larkin Bus Stop I think it's called) or continue by taxi or walk, whatever you want. Welcome to M'sia :) cooolboi April 26th, 2006, 09:58 PM then why 9th plan didnt mention about it? Ghanti speech can not trust de lah.... Hopefully its true . Sometimes he really cannot be trusted also. Malaysia government also not dare enough. Vince April 26th, 2006, 11:04 PM Do I have to pass immigration if I'm a Filipino visitor and I want to visit Johor Bahru from Singapore? Which mode of transport do you recommend? Should I take the bus, taxi, train or ferry? Try to take the Singapore-Johor Express bus at Rochor Terminal on Queens Street in Singapore. This bus is comfortable and very affordable. The procedure to go through immigration and customs is as stated by the nice gentleman above. When u get into the city of Johor Bahru, u can either alight and wander around the city centre or, alternatively, u can continue riding the bus to Larkin Terminal where there are connecting buses to other parts of Malaysia (which I highly recommend, unless you are strapped for time). Get some information of JB before you wander around as the hectic and chaotic atmosphere of the city can be a big contrast to Singapore, which may just stress u out. Hope you have a good time in Johor Bahru and WELCOME! JustHorace April 27th, 2006, 06:10 AM ^^Thanks guys. That was a lot of help. :) pynshi91 April 27th, 2006, 08:56 AM ya loh.....i can still remember this LRT or monorail issue was raised in year 1996 and now??????....don't say LRT,even other mega projects also no news.........well,let's see....i'm sure the johore government will realised that thge traffic in johor bahru are increasing every day.It was not mention in the 9th malaysian plan....maybe he forgotten???....hm....just wait and see....but we must know....don't be too happy about it...........let's wait for the government to give the green light and then only we johoreans celebrate it... pynshi91 April 27th, 2006, 08:57 AM hmmm.......The Zon Mall previously known as Duty Free Zone Mall will undergo a major facelit....they are planning to expand another 200,000 square feet of the mall...hope it will be a success....more malls in Jaybee!!... Should I take the bus, taxi, train or ferry? I suggest that you double check with your travel agent whether you need a visa to enter Malaysia from Singapore, 'coz my friends had experiences of being stopped from entering the other side 'coz no visa. I think aside from the suggestions by other forumers, I normally take the cheaper way. In Singapore, take MRT to Kranji station, then board the bus (I think the number is 709... dont really remember). It costs very little and it will bring you to Woodlands CIQ. You get down the bus, walk into Woodlands CIQ, then done with the procedures, get back on the bus, off you go to JB CIQ. (In case there's a massive traffic jam on Causeway, you might want to just forget the bus and walk across to JB hehe). Then the bus from Singapore will stop at JB CIQ and tada... Welcome to Malaysia! :D My suggestion is once you're in JB CIQ, you're pretty much in the CBD area already, so there is no need to travel to Larkin Bus Station, unless you want to take the coaches to other cities like KL (about 4-5 hours ride). Welcome to Malaysia! :D My suggestion is once you're in JB CIQ, you're pretty much in the CBD area already, so there is no need to travel to Larkin Bus Station, unless you want to take the coaches to other cities like KL (about 4-5 hours ride).Okay. From Kranji MRT, you can take either 160, 170 (Larkin or Kota Raya doesn't matter) or CW1. From Woodlands MRT, you can take 950. Once you reach Woodlands CIQ, alight. Up the escalators, pass immigration, down again and board the same bus service. (160 and 170 are interchangeable though at this point.) Just show your bus ticket to the driver. Walking is not advised. Singapore Immigration side has made it difficult for people to walk probably due to safety concerns. Just try to get a seat in the bus and wait. Once you reach the Johor CIQ, alight like everyone else does, head to the immigration counters on your right and clear it. You're now in Malaysia. Turn left before the underpass and you can board the bus to continue your journey if you are going to Kota Raya or Larkin (see below). 160, 170 (marked Kota Raya), 950 and CW1 will bring you to Kota Raya, which has nothing there unless you're going Senai Airport. 170 (marked Larkin) and CW1 will bring you to Larkin Terminal, which is the inter-city bus terminal for JB. Here you can board buses for a cheap fare to KL, Malacca etc, but it does take a few hours. If you're exploring JB, head into the underpass and out. You're in the CBD itself. Get yourself around, or maybe grab a cab if you need to. Coming Back If you want to come back, best way is to make your way back to the Johor CIQ or Checkpoint or Railway station. Take the escalator up, clear immigration and down. Here are your options back: 160 (Jurong East) 170 (Queen St) 170 (Kranji MRT) <--- this is a short route version of 170 950 (Woodlands MRT via Marsiling MRT) Singapore-Johor Express (CBD/Queen St) CW1 (Kranji MRT) As before, 160 and 170 are interchangeable until the last leg of the immigration process. And keep your ticket to re-board. Get to Woodlands CIQ, up, clear immigration, down, and you queue at the respective service number of where you want to go. EZ-Link If you are using an ez-link card, you can use it to board hassle-free on 160, 170 or 950. Simply tap whenever you alight at the checkpoints to suspend your ride, and tap again when you board to resume your ride for the journey. Of course, 160 and 170 are interchangeable (SBS Transit) you can board any bus on your way to Johor until the last leg, but 950 is on its own (SMRT Buses). You can always switch bus oeprators, but it'll be charged as 2 different JB-bound journey instead of 1 JB-bound journey.
