Looks like it has a well defined core area, but lacking in the tall stuff so far. Has a nice profile with good height, but talls are a bit scattered. Abidjan has always been one of the better developed cities of West Africa, and I can see this growing up very finely indeed some day (I hope so anyway......)

8/10 Very nice looking city. I really liked photos 2,4 and 5. This is what cities like Lagos should look like, with the amount of petroleum income Nigeria has.

From some of these pics it looks like Abidjan has a good harbor. Is shipping a big industry there?

About 3 millions.

For the skyline, I give a 7,5/10.
Not so bad, but not enough tall.

For 3 million it sucks. For 100,000 its good :)

By the way, Abidjan main airport is basically closed to all traffic because the elite French troops that were guarding it have told all foreign airlines that fly there to abstain from serving the city, due to the riots that are occuring.

Yeah the pictures of Abidjan's skyline are from the Quartier du Plateau in Abidjan.

Abidjan used to be the most prosperous city in Africa in the 80's. The Ivorian economy was flourishing... and then the prices of coffee and cocoa shrinked and all this "Ivorian miracle" disappeared. Today, the country is at the brink of civil war.

What a waste. :(

The Cathedral Notre-Dame de la Paix (Notre-Dame of Peace) has been built in Yammousoukro, the capital city of the country. It's been built under Felix Houphouet-Boigny's prosperous time. Yammoussoukro became the capital city of Ivory Coast in the 80's in order to attempt to block the concentration of the population in Abidjan.

This skyline hasn't changed much over the last 20 years. It was outstanding then but just so-so now.
