Just wanted to add that I particularly love this picture. It really makes it look like you're in a narrow canyon with very high walls. The raindow equality flags are nice to see as well. :)

Ever been to Woody's? I got drunk out of my mind there and I'm still not sure how I managed to walk back to my friend's apartment a few blocks away, LOL.

I've been going to Woody's for 18 years now, well not every night. I live in the gayborhood and Woody's is 2 blocks from my house. I'm on my way now actually.

Wednesdayyyyyyyyyy Baby kiddies night. Pure is sooo expensive but sooo nice.
Philly in the last few years seems to be cleaning up. More color, less grime.

Philadweller: I may soon be your neighbor. That 'hood is really looking good to me.

A+ there my friend. Philadephia looks to be a very beautiful city. Great vibrancy. That park is a mob scene.

Cool, I didn't know there was a Woody's in Philly. Does it have bragging rights over the one in T.O Btw. is it just me or does Philly, although obviously has a uniqueness of its own (architecture and history unparalleled in NA excluding Mexico City ie. history), seem to have similar streetscapes to Toronto?

philadweller
April 14th, 2005, 03:40 AM
Philadelphia definitely has a uniqueness of its own. Woody's being in Phila. is a sheer coincidence as its been around for 20+ years and is named after the owner Bill Wood.

Same here Saturday and Sunday actually, where is that fabulous thread of yours? I can't seem to find it. I love your people photos...and Waterfront Square seems to be getting tall. Maybe the Beluga whale will pass through on its way back from Trenton for a photo op from the Ben Franklin Bridge.

By the way Joe, last night was Tuesday when all the conventioneers and out-of-towners go out bar hopping. Tonight is "twinkie" night.

We have everything but an ocean. Every now and then it is possible to go whale watching from the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Uhhhhhhhh.. Yeah... I got flagged again the other night. I saw a much denser skyline that night. I liked it better that way.. two of everything.

By my calculations, the whale should be in Wilmington by the weekend.

Didi tell anyone that I saw the Baluga whale (yep yep) i cut school and me and my mom went to see the Dali exehbit (pictures of art museam atop) and we were in some italian restaraunt, saw that on the news and fled north a little north of trenton where we pushed people out of the way. looking back, I am not quite sure why we left philly just so we could say we saw the baluga whale. oh well, it makes meh feel special.

Good stuff Philadweller!

Early days of Spring in Philadelphia is like a religious experiece. Love how the whole region gravitates towards downtown and Rittenhouse Square. With each passing year downtown gets more and more life to it, in spite of the horrible city council we have. We have great neighborhood associations, great private organizations, but brutal leadership on a government level, what a shame. If we could only start with a clean trustworthy slate in City Hall the future of Philly would really be looking up.

philadweller
April 25th, 2005, 10:11 PM
I hear ya....Regardless of City Council the city is booming more than ever since the 1950's. I remember in the early 1980s when Walnut street was a big vacancy and Rittenhouse was full of drug dealers and homeless. Chestnut Street was an absolute morgue. The only game in town was South Street and the Italian Market.

Hi

Can anyone tell me where or how to find budget hotels or hostels in Philly? I only found one and it's way too far from downtown. I would appreciate that. Thank you.

A very vibrant Philly indeed. They always paint it as a historic yet dreary town. I guess that's more in the inner city, like every city has.

Nonetheless, i'd like to visit Philadelphia one day. I drove through PA once and it was stunning, I mean ur driving and there are elevated forests on both sides of the interstate.

Yeah thats the stereotype but it seems Philly(at least the downtown area and perhaps others as well) get better and better every year. One of my favorite cities to visit.I'll be there for a few days this summer:cheers:
