SA BOY April 13th, 2005, 12:49 PM Well it was bound to happen in Dubai, we have had towers creeping up on the majical 3 figure number and finally yesterday a 100F residentail tower was launched out building the 2 90F ones released so far this year.Deffinatly a 400m plus tower
check out the thread on the dubai threads.

Amezing design!
gohcan April 13th, 2005, 01:42 PM Great, original and fantastic. 370-400meters?
Bikes April 13th, 2005, 01:52 PM With the spire it could be around 450 m imo :)
Xander April 13th, 2005, 02:00 PM Thats damn ugly!!
onetwothree April 13th, 2005, 03:34 PM I'm not that excited about the design really. It's far from the best I've seen
carfentanyl April 13th, 2005, 03:36 PM It's not ugly, it's just not that beautiful. Too bad a building this height has such a plain design.
Monkey April 13th, 2005, 03:42 PM Yippie!
Amezing design!
I disagree. Apart from the height, what's so amazing about it?
Looks very generic to me.
LondonerUpNorth April 13th, 2005, 03:50 PM Not anything special about the design really, just the height.
AltinD April 13th, 2005, 03:52 PM ^ Yeah, just one of the five 300+ meter talls residencials in the same block, complemented by at least 5 other 200+ meters tall. :D
Bikes April 13th, 2005, 04:13 PM I disagree. Apart from the height, what's so amazing about it?
Looks very generic to me.
Hey mate, please everyone has its own taste, imo its amezing, i dont know how come that a mod starts to argue with me... Ive been in London a few times, and you would surely be proud if this would get built there.. Just my 2cents..
Dubai-Lover April 13th, 2005, 04:57 PM the tower itself is nice but the render is too small
we need a larger one with more details
the spire is not that long, fortunately
i guess it'll be around 400, not more
Urban Dave April 13th, 2005, 05:05 PM Another 400 m tower??? :omg:! Design doesn't look bad, anyway.
Cliff April 13th, 2005, 05:21 PM A building like that here would be BIG news, like covered in half the papers.
But its childsplay in Dubai.:D
Quite nice, not my fav. but still good.
aural iNK April 13th, 2005, 05:30 PM Ugh, this makes Freedom Tower look like the SWFC. It's amazing that we have come to a time when some lackluster 110-floor buildings such as this begin to rise. I feel they could have come more correct with this design.
AltinD April 13th, 2005, 05:54 PM This tower will be sandwitched between other 300+ towers that no one can appreciate the beauty (or not) of it. Important is that the uper part that will be visible above the other towers in that aerea, has some variation on it. :D
Monkey April 13th, 2005, 06:41 PM Hey mate, please everyone has its own taste, imo its amezing, i dont know how come that a mod starts to argue with me... Ive been in London a few times, and you would surely be proud if this would get built there.. Just my 2cents..
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound insulting, I just think the design is a little bland. I'd like to see more variation in colours, shapes and architectural styles in Dubai. At the moment it seems like there are too many green/turquoise towers with strange tops and stripey white bits around the facade. I'm happy that Dubai is getting another supertall (110 storeys is damn impressive), but they should be producing a more 'individual' and unique design for something this size in my opinion. I think it lacks creativity. And no, I wouldn't want this built in London - it would look out of place.
ch1le April 13th, 2005, 06:43 PM dont know way too simple and not innovative do be appreciated! The height ought to be superb though..
Manu84 April 13th, 2005, 06:51 PM not another tower!!!
909 April 13th, 2005, 07:14 PM In Dubai, only the sky is the limit...
Bad design btw, i don't like it.
Jue April 13th, 2005, 07:24 PM It's certainly not horrid; not every 400m tower is destined to be monumentally beautiful like the ESB. Dubai's general style is far superior to most of what goes up in China. SWFC aside. :)
lokinyc April 13th, 2005, 07:38 PM I don't really like it. Will there me anyone left in the rest of the world after everyone, apparently, moves to Dubai?
james2390 April 13th, 2005, 07:39 PM If you're going to bother building a building that tall, at least give it a good design.:|
Good news though.
You are to blame April 13th, 2005, 07:45 PM I like it and love the design. If this was not being built in dubai but in your city, i think most everyone would love it aswell, but there are alot of dubai haters in these forums
Dubai_Boy April 13th, 2005, 07:48 PM Guys , if Dubai was building ONE supertall and it had this design to it , i would be a bit dissapointed too , but we are getting LOTS AND LOTS at the same height or higher :) so i`m not complaining
Bikes April 13th, 2005, 07:59 PM Sorry, I didn't mean to sound insulting, I just think the design is a little bland. NP, didnt mean to insult you either, im just saying that every has its own taste.. :) And of course if a similar tower would get built in London it should have diff design. I myself would be goddamn happy if even a 100m tower would be built in Budapest :)
rikarchitecten April 13th, 2005, 09:17 PM Dubai tops out!!, no doubt its the most interresting place to be for an Skyscraper-spotter.
By the way, what an slim tower!!, its like 1/8
Pedrillo April 14th, 2005, 01:40 AM
Bikes April 14th, 2005, 02:01 AM hm, some of the posts got lost, i guess because of the maintance (?)
Trances April 16th, 2005, 01:57 AM i do like it
Desgin has some features and it every suited to the marina area
guess thought it is common with all the white and blue
ssiguy2 April 16th, 2005, 02:10 AM Its a nice design , too bad its in Dubai. Never understood the attraction of sucha bigotted, sexist, patriarchal place.
luv2bebrown April 16th, 2005, 02:29 AM Its a nice design , too bad its in Dubai. Never understood the attraction of sucha bigotted, sexist, patriarchal place.
can u suggest a non-bigotted, non-sexist, non-patriarchal place where it would fit nicely?
luv2bebrown April 16th, 2005, 02:33 AM I don't really like it. Will there me anyone left in the rest of the world after everyone, apparently, moves to Dubai?
yeah, the population of the world is around 6.5 billion. 6.5 billion people aren't expected to move to dubai. only about 1 - 1.5 million in the next 10 years. so there should be a good 6.449 billion left.
GuilhermeC April 16th, 2005, 02:57 AM Looks so very ugly.
Dubai buildings are 90% crappish. Tall, but ugly.
Stratosphere 2020 April 16th, 2005, 03:40 AM I like the top of the tower, it is very creative designed, looks like balconies gradually coming down. It is not a bad design. Dubai has some of the best looking scrapers in the World. Keep it up!
DiggerD21 April 16th, 2005, 03:42 AM Considering that it is a residential tower, the design is not that bad.
rj2uman April 16th, 2005, 07:42 AM WOW I wonder how much units there will be and if it will be near Burj Dubai.
james2390 April 16th, 2005, 07:48 AM yeah, the population of the world is around 6.5 billion. 6.5 billion people aren't expected to move to dubai. only about 1 - 1.5 million in the next 10 years. so there should be a good 6.449 billion left.
Umm...Sarcasm?
Alvin April 16th, 2005, 07:53 AM there's nothing appealing about the design...its just plain average. Actually I don't really like the white & green color scheme. A far cry from, say, Union Square Phase 7 in HK and the SWFC.
Apoc April 16th, 2005, 10:46 AM Quantity...Vs....Quality...hmmmmm....
If this was the ONLY greenish huge tower being built in Dubai..it would be cool...but it isn't :sleepy: ....7/10 IMO
Dubai-Lover April 16th, 2005, 11:08 AM oh sorry
yes there about 10 towers which have a green facade :sly:
among thousands
several major cities have a huge amount of brown/grey and whatever towers, no color at all, have you seen me complaining about this? i guess no!
too many biased people around here :ohno:
AltinD April 16th, 2005, 03:05 PM WOW I wonder how much units there will be and if it will be near Burj Dubai.
This tower will definitelly be visible from Burj Dubai some 20 km away.
Travis007 April 17th, 2005, 01:00 AM I like this tower. Simple design but I think the eye at the top of the tower finishes the tower very nicely.
Funny how if this was to be built in some other city it would be big news but in Dubai its just another 100 Storey...
Accura4Matalan April 17th, 2005, 02:07 AM Its like a blue and white version of the Eye of Sauron. Pretty bog standard design, just incredibly tall.
Apoc April 17th, 2005, 06:47 AM LOL...I'm not biased at all...I used to be a Dubai-lover too!!...
But the line between "Cool building!!:eek2: "...and "Oh!...another tower :sleepy: "...was crossed a long time ago....and yes! other cities have lots of similar buildings, BUT those cities were built...they didn't just pop out of nowhere...if you know what i mean...
I think there has to be a history,a reason,a meaning! for every building...in Dubai it seems like they are like....
Guy#1: Hmmm the last supertall didn't impressed them :sly: ...I think we should build a new one :colgate: !
Guy#2: Do you want me to call the architects :) ?
Guy#1: Hmmmm no!...let's use the same design, but...add some stuff here and there so it would look different!
I'm Glad Dubai is progressing and everything, but if you are gonna start these kind of projects....it should be more "meaningful"....as in, leave its own mark and be a part of the whole thing, not just one more greenish tower..
mumbojumbo April 17th, 2005, 07:43 AM Jesus
Nightsky April 20th, 2005, 01:46 PM Just 5 years ago 100 floors was an almost magical border.
I think people are more choosy about Dubai than other cities just because there are so many nice designs, so it takes a lot for a tower to stand out in this city.
themongrel April 20th, 2005, 04:34 PM it looks like a lightsaber, someones been watching to much star wars. not sure if its the architecture or me!
LibertyTwo April 26th, 2005, 01:42 AM It's not terrible...it looks very much like a Dubai residential tower, much the same Chicago tends towards the more glazed glass/straight edge towers, and other cities having developed a style over the years, like NYC's wedding cake (setback) look albeit primarily driven by a city ordinance...
To me, Dubai is a lot like Las Vegas....no matter how tall the buildings get in Las Vegas, no matter how many 1,000 footers get built, it will still be Las Vegas...a playground not taken seriously except as the bastard child of American cities....Dubai is the same way, if not for tourism, both cities would look a lot different...there is nothing wrong with tourist cities....but they tend not to develop a character, and tend not to develop into major world players like NYC, London, Tokyo, etc
DUBAI April 26th, 2005, 04:53 AM there is nothing wrong with tourist cities....but they tend not to develop a character, and tend not to develop into major world players like NYC, London, Tokyo, etc
what if they manage to do both!!!!!
scary eh?
Taufiq April 26th, 2005, 06:34 AM ^ Best part is that Dubai is doing both! :D
Citystyle April 27th, 2005, 04:51 PM ^ Yeah, just one of the five 300+ meter talls residencials in the same block, complemented by at least 5 other 200+ meters tall. :D
:eek2: :)
Urban Dave April 27th, 2005, 05:10 PM Should be frustrading live in the first or second floor of a high rise :D
SA BOY April 28th, 2005, 11:20 AM what about living on the 10th floor and all the lifts are at the top, youd be pissed to have to walk down
dubaiflo April 30th, 2005, 10:34 PM not another tower!!!
why not :D
CULWULLA May 10th, 2005, 05:00 AM hey any news on official height yet?
Travis007 May 10th, 2005, 05:07 AM If for any reason this tower does not get built, there will always be room for it in my back yard. :D
SA BOY May 10th, 2005, 07:59 AM no official height yet. It hasent been launched officially yet but the render is out and its been spoken about. Its just a matter of time till its launched and we can try to track down the heights through the consultsnts.
I would say its deffinatly 400+
Dubai-Lover May 10th, 2005, 08:34 AM do you happen to know any of the consultants?
the only company i've found involved in this project is http://www.group-one.cc/master_content.html
SA BOY May 10th, 2005, 08:45 AM I think dimmentions or NEB are the architects
Dubai-Lover May 10th, 2005, 09:55 AM yes, dimensions, i know, but they seem to be very uncooperative
neb has a lot of projects in dubai, really nice ones and doesn't have a website
but one seems to be reserved. www.nebureau.com
an architect May 10th, 2005, 10:31 AM looks like Dubai is going to become the number one city of beautiful highrises in the world.
SUNNI May 10th, 2005, 10:43 AM height doesnt define beauty.
i still think NY and HK have an edge over Dubais upcomming towers in design.
smussuw May 10th, 2005, 11:21 AM height doesnt define beauty.
i still think NY and HK have an edge over Dubais upcomming towers in design.
Since when? plz dont compare the ugly dull boxes in NY and HK with Dubai Beauty.
an architect May 10th, 2005, 08:45 PM height doesnt define beauty.
i still think NY and HK have an edge over Dubais upcomming towers in design.
I didn't say height = beauty.
But buildings in Dubai (planned or completed) are in general far more elegant than those in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and other cities in Asia.
Þróndeimr May 10th, 2005, 09:27 PM Incredible building, nice design though the mid parts of the tower is quite boring. :)
James Saito May 12th, 2005, 06:52 AM I love the design, simple and futuristic.
Fits very well in Dubai.
dubaiflo July 31st, 2005, 12:22 AM long time gone, nothing new for this one... hope it will be released soon...
city of the future July 31st, 2005, 12:29 AM me too and i hope the design changes too
Effer July 31st, 2005, 02:00 AM me too and i hope the design changes too
BHK25 July 31st, 2005, 03:10 AM Great for Dubai, the design sucks big time though.
BMXican July 31st, 2005, 07:56 PM And no, I wouldn't want this built in London - it would look out of place.
so? almost all london proposals will look out of place, if they ever get built.
CULWULLA August 1st, 2005, 01:56 AM height doesnt define beauty.
i still think NY and HK have an edge over Dubais upcomming towers in design.
i agree NY s beauty is in its heritage but Hk has none and is littered with tragic cloned unit blocks. half a dozen bldgs are worth mentioning.
Dubai are lucky, they are starting from scratch with devlopers and world class archiects presenting new modern towers with no limits to height or funding.! a skyscraper fans dream!
Trances August 1st, 2005, 02:14 AM yes flo it has been a while
londonindyboy August 1st, 2005, 02:15 AM i dont like the design specially the top.
Azn_chi_boi August 1st, 2005, 02:49 AM I agree, that building doesnt appeal to me.
palindrome August 1st, 2005, 03:09 AM design looks tacky to me.
Naga_Solidus August 1st, 2005, 07:14 AM it reminds me of sharper image's ionic breeze air purifier
some_stupid_nut August 1st, 2005, 07:39 AM it reminds me of sharper image's ionic breeze air purifier
Actually that thing is pretty sexy and I wouldnt mind a tower like it!
FM 2258 August 1st, 2005, 12:16 PM It's nice
Harkeb August 1st, 2005, 12:31 PM Nice top, but the tower looks rather thin.
source26 August 1st, 2005, 02:14 PM design is terrible, looks like a tower with jaws mouth stuck on it
Elite August 11th, 2005, 02:18 PM I hope this does not get built.
Because it will beat the Q1 for the highest Residential Building
:(
Chad August 11th, 2005, 02:33 PM So, it's not eventually launched yet?
SkylineTurbo August 11th, 2005, 02:43 PM Excellent design :okay:
Dubai-Lover August 11th, 2005, 02:57 PM takes more time than expected
this might be the fortune 101 tower, not sure though
be patient
Genç August 11th, 2005, 03:49 PM Fabulous design, perhaps rather thin though...
Perth4life August 11th, 2005, 04:08 PM if this was in like US or ASIA it would be big, the fact is, i think everyones over dubai already.
wjfox August 11th, 2005, 04:13 PM if this was in like US or ASIA it would be big, the fact is, i think everyones over dubai already.
What a stupid comment.
londonindyboy August 11th, 2005, 05:03 PM looks awesome
ShuMi August 11th, 2005, 05:07 PM Tall, but ugly!
scorpion August 11th, 2005, 08:37 PM this design will be absolutely gorgeous at night!!
:)
dubaiflo August 12th, 2005, 01:52 PM I hope this does not get built.
Because it will beat the Q1 for the highest Residential Building
:(
Q1 will be beaten by 2008 anyway...
dubai_lover why do you think this is fortune 101 ?
because fortune group was already client of dimension with fortune executive? could be true indeed...
New York Yankee August 12th, 2005, 04:06 PM good news. another 500+ metres tower for dubai!
newyorkrunaway1 August 13th, 2005, 09:16 AM god, another one
thunder head August 13th, 2005, 09:30 AM yep it's official! Dubai is only doing this in a try-hard attempt to steal the claim from other cities for the biggest, tallest and longest of everything. The truth is, Dubai will never become a world city like New York or London. Just a city in the middle of nowhere that 95% of the world population hasn't even heard about.
New York Yankee August 13th, 2005, 11:50 AM that's the true. before i came to this forum, i didn't know dubai too.
but around 2010 they are gonna more famous because it's WTB and other things...
Cyril August 13th, 2005, 11:55 AM Old-fashioned futuristic design I just do not like at all.
SA BOY August 13th, 2005, 01:09 PM yep it's official! Dubai is only doing this in a try-hard attempt to steal the claim from other cities for the biggest, tallest and longest of everything. A bit like Melbourne then eh?
ws74sa August 13th, 2005, 01:33 PM I think you would be wrong to say 95% of the world has not heard of it. I do not think there are many people in India, Paksistan, Bangladesh, the arab countries, northern african countries who would not have heard of dubai.
Quite a number of people in the far eastern countries too are familiar with dubai. It is only europe and the americas and australia that people are not familiar with dubai. How much % of the world population is that? I guess it is a little higher than 25%. The whole western world and the latin american countries make up just 1/4th the worlds population. How is that as food for thought?

actually your nearly right, yet most of Europe know of dubai well, it seems that some of the more inbred states of america havent heard of it.. them and thunderhead, possibly 95% of the world HAVE heard of dubai, the rest are just a bit thick.
SA BOY August 15th, 2005, 12:37 PM well said nezzybaby
city of the future August 15th, 2005, 01:41 PM like SA boy said, very well said! here in quebec city in Canada people do KNOW DUBA!! Its amazing how popular it has gotten!
thunder head August 15th, 2005, 02:45 PM only because they try to out do every other city in building things. take That jebel ali airport thing for example - bloody hell 6 runways theres not that much traffic c'mon seriosly. seriously, dubai is only buildings - around it is hundreds of miles of featureless desert.
SA BOY August 15th, 2005, 03:34 PM have you been here? I assume not as ytou wouldent be talking out your arse. Go to the Dubai forum, look under Jebal Ali Airport city and see the context of the airport. It will be next to the largest man made port in the world, next to the largest redistribution trade hub in the world, has vechicular access to Saudi, Qatar, Bharian , Oman etc and is a tax free zone. You will find DHL,TNT, FED-Ex along with Mersck Shipping , Evergreen etc setting up re-distribution hubs to serve the region and the world.
Not Busy, mate you havemt been to Dubai Airport at 1 in the morinng with 5000 people in the arrival halls. binkers off , stop speaking out your arse and actaully do some reseacrch before sounding off your uneducated , ignorant posts
city of the future August 15th, 2005, 03:35 PM there WILL be the need for 6 runways the future, quit critisizing everything
nezzybaby August 15th, 2005, 06:43 PM thunder head
location: my house
maybe if you left your house and took a look at the world outside youd learn something and maybe open your mind a little
Dubai-Lover August 15th, 2005, 09:49 PM i don't know why we have never made people notice about oman
it borders the uae and in just a few hours you're in muscat, the capital
if you look for real heritage, this is the place to go!
been there a couple of times but only for a few days
i was deeply impressed
an ass-whopping country which is against mass tourism, but in fact is a beauty
dubai development companies push things forward a little, but it's an untouched paradise
so lovely and zillions things to do
it might be similar to israel, so many climate zones in one country
landscape rocks!
