Labrador Park is located on a hilly region in Singapore opposite Sentosa island. It overlooks the western approach into the harbour.

The British built a fort here, with the guns meant to defend Singapore from a southern attack during WW2. For more on the guns and the British defeat in WW2, click this thread for the pics:

Meanwhile, this place makes a good getaway from the urban and hectic citylife.

Any idea why it is called "Labrador Park"?
Labrador is part of the province of Newfoundland & Labrador in Eastern Canada.

"The name 'Labrador' is one of the oldest names of European origin in Canada, almost as old as the name 'Newfoundland'. It is named after Joćo Fernandes Lavrador who, together with Pedro de Barcelos, first sighted it in 1492."

hmm...apparently, it was named after Labrador Bay!

It is not uncommon for many places in Singapore to be given English-sounding names, for the island was once a British colony.
