View Full Version : I Have Returned

Hello folks, most of you have probably not noticed my absence from this place since sunday.
Well, you can blame these weak ankle muscles of mine, as at the slightest bit of pressure as i was defending my goal monday night on the outdoor pitches at crookes, they crumpled together as my ankle twisted.
I played on but the pain was too much, and after a nights sleep my ankle was swollen to the size of a slightly obese persons ankle and not looking much unlike a big ball of swollen muscle.

So i have only been in uni in order to register with the health service here and get an appointment with a doctor ( almost a full WEEK after my accident) and so have not been online!

anyway, its not broken and i can start to walk on it without too much pain now, still swollen though! I'll be off home soon to rest it, elevate it and ice it!

It could be worse, you could have hurt your wrists - the mind boggles at the jokes you would get with an injury like that ;)

Having read that post Zim i now blame you for the fact my thumb is the size of a small eastern european country.

I took a shot very hard in the hand last night at football and my thumb is all bruised and i can hardly move it. Might have to see the doc about it if it still hurts once the swelling is down, but i'm pretty sure nothing is broken.

As my housemate said yesterday as she laughed out loud - What is it with me and football injuries?

Anyway, i saw this one and realised what better place to share my current pain than on this thread. I'll make a new one if you want!

sorry about that Andrew C,

could have been worse, I jumped over someone during a water pistol fight when I was about 16 and landed full body weight on my thumb... even tho my thumbs bend backwards into an L shape naturally so it was like a platform when I landed on it and I snapped my thumb diagonally down it.. not a nice experience!

(if you don't know what I mean, ben your thumb forwards normally as tho you were curling it into your palm, imagine it doing that but the other way and you'll have what my thumb can do, my joint works in a funny way)

Basically my hand and arm are hanging downwards with the palm facing towards the back of my body, away from the player with the ball. They've hit it and its rocketed into my hand, more precisely into my thumb so it has bent, not into my palm or away from it but rather to the side. Its bruised all the muscles on my thumb and all the muscle on the left hand side of my palm (the big muscle at the bottom of the thumb) has been sprained really badly. Theres no stinging pain though so i reckon i've escaped a broken bone.

If you're refering to the ankle injury in april then the reason i couldn't come online is because i'd have to get to the library first!

It could be worse, you could tried to block a goal kick and land on your head.

OOPs probably jinxed that now.

Lol, you all sound like those prats who say "get up you big girls blouse" and then when you get hit in the stomach you spend an hour on the floor, whispering "I'll be alright in a minute.

You cunts haven't seen the large grey bloodied blob that is my left thumb.

I have to go to minor injuries tomorrow at hospital to get an x-ray, though nursey wursey says she doesn't think anythings broken.

Don't get me started on x-rays. I had to go to get one for my ribs recently because it may be damaged and the little old nurse came out and said "Mrs" Jake, to which people looked astonished when I stood up and said it's mr actually. Then she said something about women having to strip for the x-ray to which I was like "ok..." in the waiting area. Then they had to take the x-ray twice for some odd reason?
