Sarajka September 11th, 2005, 12:47 AM ^ In fact, I think we should break up into City States, inhabited by closely-knit tribes of a few families. :D
Then we can live in peace again (and wait for the Ottomans) LOL (or the Austrians). Or these days, I guess, most likely is the Albanians. :D
yugoboy September 11th, 2005, 01:26 AM Rijeka is my favourite!
I like it for the same reasons Sarajka gave.:)
I didn't know Piran was considered second city of Slovenia, I thought it was Maribor! Same for Mostar...
mirza-sm September 11th, 2005, 01:31 AM Novi Sad :eek2: НОВИ САД РУЛЗ :D
BGD September 11th, 2005, 02:36 AM Take that, BGD...bitch. ;)
*Walks away*
  :D ;) Great pics Sarajka
Indexi September 11th, 2005, 11:24 AM And where is SPLIT? :(
:D ;)
edolen1 September 11th, 2005, 04:45 PM Wow, awesome pics! Great job, as usual, Sarajka.
But I have to agree with yugoboy, Maribor is perceived as the second city of Slovenia.. Piran isn't even in the top 10 (by population)..

I agree. I'd say Dubrovnik is probably Croatia's second city, despite population. Bosnia's would be Banja Luka. Serbia's probably is Novi Sad. And Macedonia...well...Ohrid I suppose?
I just picked which ones I like best. :D LOL
BGD September 12th, 2005, 11:23 AM I agree. I'd say Dubrovnik is probably Croatia's second city, despite population. Bosnia's would be Banja Luka. Serbia's probably is Novi Sad. And Macedonia...well...Ohrid I suppose?

I think for Serbia it’s Nis but Novi Sad looks way better.
bubach_hlubach September 12th, 2005, 06:39 PM I agree. I'd say Dubrovnik is probably Croatia's second city, despite population.
lol, believe it or not, but speaking of population, Dubrovnik is Croatia's 15th city (beetwen Vinkovci and Vukovar) :D
Sarajka September 12th, 2005, 07:11 PM ^ Wow! I knew it was nowhere near 2nd in population, but I didn't think that low!
MIMICA September 13th, 2005, 02:57 AM My favorite city would have to be Mostar. I absolutely fell in love with the entire city when I visited it.
The other cities do look very nice as well.
Football Rules September 13th, 2005, 02:59 AM I didnt know Tetovo was the second biggest city in Macedonia, i thought Ohrid or Bitola would be second but i guess i am wrong.
pobesnelizmaj September 13th, 2005, 03:12 AM I really like the look of Rijeka... I am very envious about Croatian coast, and architecture is really not balkanian, because there was a lot of influence of italians which had Istria ever since... I like those cities and I respect their national proud and unity, and their will to show themselves as best country on the Balkans (which actually is)... this doesn't mean that their mentality is European, and it also doesn't mean that i love them as people...the mentality and people are very balkanian ;)... but the country is fantastic... :)
bubach_hlubach September 13th, 2005, 03:22 AM ^ wow thanks for your compliments :D
Anyhow, what is the difference between European and Balkan mentality?
I thought Balkan was part of Europe, but i guess is not, huh? :D
BTW, Rijeka is not in Istria, but Kvarner.
milan78 September 13th, 2005, 03:22 AM Nish is the second biggest in Serbia, but I do have to agree, reluctantly, that Novi Sad is more modern and refined
BosRoker September 13th, 2005, 03:51 AM Second cities in my opinion:
Croatia: Split
Slovenia: Maribor
Bosnia: Mostar
Serbia: Novi Sad
Macedonia: Ohrid

I have my own theory on this. Yes, Balkans is a part of Europe but do Croatians, Serbs, Bonians/aks and others go to sleep at 10pm or do they work till 5pm so that they are that tired they don’t have a social life? No and that is what I love about our region. It’s always “ma dobro polakocemo mi to” and people seem to be friendlier. Balkan life isn’t structured by strict rules and everybody voices their opinion. That’s my theory :)
Sarajka September 13th, 2005, 02:44 PM ^ I think it's just a fear of missing anything.
Go to downtown Sarajevo, Zagreb, or Belgrade and yell one of these things:
"FIRE!"
"HE'S GOT A GUN!"
"FIGHT!"
"50% OFF SALE!"
I promise...you will just as many excited people running towards you for each.;)
LEAFS FANATIC September 13th, 2005, 03:06 PM Mila,

I dont know how is situation in BiH and SICG, but in Croatia people work very hard; by latest data, they work around 50 hours a week, and dont have that much time off for fun. However, it's a little different in southern (Dalmatia) and very eastern parts of Croatia (eastern Slavonia), people are more open and 'warmer', and tempo of living is somewhat slower which unfortunately is not case with central, north and west Croatia (Zagreb, Prigorje, Zagorje, Medjimurje, Bilogora, Podravina, Istria, Kvarner etc).

bubach_hlubach September 13th, 2005, 11:05 PM 50 hours a week? That's more than I work in a month. ;)
Yeah, but it doesnt apply for big part of Dalmatia (excluding Dubrovnik region). An average Dalmatian usualy works 5 months a year, in case he works a whole year, then he retires as soon as he turns 30 :D :jk:
dejan September 14th, 2005, 02:48 AM Yeah i agree these are better;) Really nice town!! Like any other Adriatic city!
BGD September 14th, 2005, 07:32 AM Sarajka you really are a bitch ;) :D Joking. Beautiful pictures!
Sarajka September 15th, 2005, 10:54 PM Hey all,
This wasn't a huge set but...wow...some of the views are just amazing! I thumbnailed them this time because the quality is excellent and some of you might be needing a new desktop background. ;)
