WOW, looks different from each angle along with its coloring; sometimes gray, sometimes blue and sometimes aqua, all depending on the light.

The almost zig-zag effect on one of its facades also creates unique interest.

A great tower for its area ie Times Square.

Looks so slender in the first pic AtlanticaC5 posted. The vertical setbacks and the goldish-tinged diagonal bracing that RafflesCity posted also makes for architectural interest.

8.5/10 I wasn't a big fan of this building first, but it has really grown on me. The shape, the height and facade fits very good in Times Square.

well, well, well, finally someone made a rot thread for this one (thanks atlanticac5!). this building was way overdue for one...

anyways, i love the building's "times square" look, and how it completed the times square skyscraper canyon. the strips of diagonal aluminum/stainless steel/whatever it is gives a cool effect to the building from certain angles. the concrete-like roof's a really cheap finish to the building's facade though and ruin its look somewhat (thank goodness it's not visible from times square).

6.5/10 - The different sections of the facade are a pre-emptive strike against monotony, and of course, I like the shiny-shiny glass.

BUT

The facade almost veers over from monotony into chaos; it needs smoething to tie its sections together.

And WHO*IN*THE*WORLD ever came up with that hideous roof????

Of course, it fits right into Times Square, where the only rule is "Anthing goes" as long as it has enough flashing lights!

The design's philosophy is interesting...
It sort of looks like if the modern thunderbolt-shaped cladding is covering up and old fashioned 70's design that can be seen through in some parts (on one side and at the top). I don't know if it was the intent but that's imaginative at least.

The tower looks pretty cool as seen from Times Square, I can't say it's great from some other angles (I don't fancy the top, actually) but overall that's OK !
I'll give it an extra point for the original cladding so that's 8.

There are so many things going on. So many angles. This shoots outward while this end curves inward. This shoudn't work, this should look too busy. But it does work. spectacularly well. This is a great tower. It serves as a great backdrop to the balldrop on new years. I love how looking at from 4 different angles gives you 4 completely different looks. This and Hearst are the 2 best NYC additions in the past 10 years.
