Well, if anything good might come out of the rising gas prices, maybe they'll get high enough to ruin the resale value of gas hog SUVs and force the owners to sell them at a huge loss so I can laugh my ass off at those fools. I'd love to see the SUV market crash worse than the stock market did in 1929. Maybe they'll get high enough to force the American automakers to invest in building decent cars instead of all these SUVs or else they'll go out of business. I'd like that.

Are these prices for regular or premium? Regular in the DC/Baltimore area typically between $2.19-$2.65.

I remember in 2002 regular in Baltimore was $.99.

Talk about gas prices.

The nation most expensive is $3.19 in Lee Vining, CA which is by the Nevada bborder west of Yosemite.

The cheapest is San Antonio, TX about $1.86. I wonder, have this have to do anything with Bush. Texas having the cheapest????

I just found out, the cheapest inside the chicago city limits is $2.25 at 123rd St & Cicero.

Why would somebody be a fool for having an SUV?? Some families have more than 5 or 6 members, thus making the use of an SUV practical.

Ive been to that Lee Vining Gas Station, on my way from LA to Lake Tahoe and visa versa. Its on the 395 ( a spectacular drive through and around the Sierra nevadas), and is a little south of mono lake and a bit north of Mammoth.

Large SUV's are foolish, small ones sometimes have gas mileage similar to cars. It goes both ways though, some cars are gass guzzlers too. That's why travel by person motor vehicle should be elimated...:)

Not everyone is, but most people don't or rarely use all of the space of the SUV. I see monster SUVs being used as commuter vehicles for one person WAY too much.

You can't deny that there are many, many people who have a monster SUV more for the image than for the utility.

Thanks to your gas hungry president and his quest to rid the world of anything that is not Texan, we fellow members of his stupid axis of freedom or whatever he calls it are paying $1.16 Aussie Dollars a litre, you can do the math.

Each time a Bush President gets elected, the rest of the world pays for their never ending quest for the go go juice.

It makes me wonder when Micheal Moore will make a petrol/gasoline inspired movie. That guy rocks for a fat bastard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do we all have to suffer because of this pinhead, son of pinhead. We are not so in-doctrinated on the joys of Bush love here down under. The only bush we like is the one between the legs.

Atleast I can be reassured that I will still be alive when the rest are gone, I guess.

The most I have seen in the Houston area is 2.35 and the cheapest is 1.99 I think, for regular.

Yea San Antonio gas is the cheapest with Dallas being the most expensive in the state of Texas. I saw this on the Houston news like a month ago. :runaway: I was close to the San Antonio area during spring break and I noticed while traveling, the further I was from the Houston, the cheaper the gas.

And cars emit just as much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Whats your points? If you're driving a damn car or living in a house, you're contributing also.

Yeah that is all pretty null unless you want to nitpick at everything that causes damage to the environment.

Having an SUV really isnt that much different from a car alot of times, like it has been said, they can get very similar gas mileages, if you are to cut out SUV's then cut out 5.9 litre police cars and old people battle wagons and plop everyone in a kia rio.

No they don't. All vehicles do not pollute the same. What's your point? Stop commenting if you don't know what you're talking about.

Do you know what ULEV, PZEV, SULEV, mean?

I thought it was common sense that the more fuel you burn, the more pollutants are produced? Pollutants are a bi-product of fossil fuel combustion, and the more fuel that is burned, the more bi-products there are.

Lol, it's not just that they're gas hogs. I just don't like them. People buy them because they think they look cool, but I think people who have large SUVs and don't need them are idiots. They're not cool, they suck. They're big, they don't handle worth a shit, they're not fun to drive, they suck gas, and they're completely USELESS unless you have to tow large things. They really have no redeeming qualities besides towing ability IMO. People aren't taking these Escalades, Excursions, Suburbans, etc. offroading everyday, so don't give me that shit. If you need something to look cool in and need to burn gas like that, at least get something cool like a Mustang V8 and not some big square piece of shit that blocks my view at a stop light. I can't stand big SUVs.

OK I'm done.

I think someone else already blasted this comment so I will simply add that when I was a vehicle owner i drove small cars that realised HIGH MPG. Most SUV's and 4WD's do not have HIGH MPG. I can easily spout off on persons who drive caddilacs and other vehiclees that get crappy MPG. I no longer regularly drive though. Occasionally I will hire a car if I need to go a long distance (ie; from Sydney to the South Coast) for a weekend holiday. Again though, I hire responsibly and do not take on gas guzzling monsters.

Certainly I live in a home. And of course many things contribute to poor air quality. It does not mean that we all should be reckless about it. Many contribute far more poor air quality and the usage of excessive amouts of petrol and oil than others. Am I a tree hugging nutter, no. Just someone that recognises that we do have some responsibilities to the world at large and do not live in vacuums.

Exactly. And I'm not a tree hugger either. What ever happened to moderation? There are plenty of cool cars out there that get decent mileage. I'm not saying everyone should be driving beer cans around that get 40 mpg. How about a midsize Honda Accord that gets 30 mpg? Or a Ford Focus? Need to haul around a lot of people? Get a mini van. Need to drive to work everyday? Don't get a Yukon Denali. Get something reasonable.

Large SUVs are wasteful in many ways. They require more materials to build. Producing steel, plastic, etc. pollutes. There is a lot more steel, plastic, etc. used to make fat ass SUVs.

All cars (TODOS COCHES) that use gas result in poor air quality.Excuse me, all cars emit gases. Maybe because they live in a free democracy and have the choice to select which car they would please. How are you to determine if a car is reasonable for a person is beyond me. So what, if it's a gas guzzler. Obviously they are useful to many people, as they are being bought. Large SUV's are also useful in ways to the environment in that many people carpool to work. Instead of having 5 little cars with one person in it, you have an SUV with all 5 in there. I do recognize that we have responsibility, therefore I turn the damn light off when I leave or go to sleep.

Excuse me, that's not what you originally said. Do I have to remind you?

And cars emit just as much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

WRONG.

But since all cars emit some pollution, should we just go back to 1960's emmissions standards?

Large SUV's are also useful in ways to the environment in that many people carpool to work. Instead of having 5 little cars with one person in it, you have an SUV with all 5 in there.

You can carpool in a car too!!! As a matter of fact, I do EVERYDAY. I drive in the carpool lane every day, and guess what, I rarely see SUVs in the carpool lane filled to capacity. I see ALL KINDS of SUVs in the regular lanes though, with ONE person in them. Your idea that many SUVs are being used for car pools is laughable.

If it can make you any better, gas price in France (/liter)
Diesel (very common in Europe) : ~€1.0
Gas : €1.2 - €1.3

we don't have regular/premium but super 95 / super 98. I guess it's the same thing

about €4.5 in France for a gallon. Over $5.88 for a gallon of gas in France then!

Regular gas in Canada is averaging about $0.90/litre, or about $0.72US/litre. In gallons, that would be about $3.40CDN or about $2.75US for a gallon of gas.
