Bahraini Spirit April 26th, 2005, 07:56 PM Let's hope so and it doesn't get delayed any further for stupid reasons. Bahraini Spirit May 11th, 2005, 03:33 PM Second phase of park to begin MUNICIPALITIES and Agriculture Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh will lay the foundation stone for the second phase of the BD9.1 million Adhari multi-purpose theme park today. The 165,319 sq m new park will feature a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, a game's arcade, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum. Bahraini Spirit May 12th, 2005, 01:19 PM http://gulf-daily-news.com/source/xxviii/053/images/03Adh.jpg WORK on the BD9.1 million Adhari multi-purpose theme park began yesterday. The park is part of the second phase to revive the Adhari area, which hosts one of Bahrain's most renowned landmarks - Ain Adhari. The natural freshwater spring was renovated and opened to the public 20 months ago while the new-look park will be ready by December next year. Municipalities and Agriculture Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh laid the foundation stone for the second phase in a ceremony attended by Electricity and Water Minister Shaikh Abdulla bin Salman Al Khalifa, Works and Housing Minister Fahmi Al Jowder, MPs, Shura Council members and municipal councillors. The new park will be built on an area measuring 165,319sq m and will feature a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, a games arcade, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum. The project will be completed by Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer) and Kuwaiti Markets and Commercial Complexes Company, which has been contracted to run the park for 30 years. Mr Al Saleh said a lot of effort has been exerted by his ministry to revive the area, which is considered an important part of Bahrain's rich heritage. "The pool has been recently renovated and hopefully this new family recreational facility will be a welcome addition to it," he said. "This new facility will provide job opportunities to 140 Bahrainis." The project, said Mr Al Saleh, was the fruit of successful co-operation between the ministry and the municipal councils. "We will continue working together in the interests of the people and hopefully similar projects will materialise soon," he said. Municipalities Under-Secretary Dr Juma Al Kaabi said the ministry was dedicated to preserving well-known historical and traditional sites. Northern Municipal Council chairman Sayed Majeed Al Sayed said the council has diligently followed up and supervised everything related to the park's development and will continue to do so. "We have made sure that the park would be up to people's expectations, since those working on it have successfully managed similar projects elsewhere," he said. Others who spoke at the ceremony included executive director Mohammed Al Tawash and the Kuwaiti company board president Tawfeeq Al Jarrah, who pledged to ensure that the project was in line with Bahrain's future developmental plans. They also promised a 100 per cent Bahrainisation rate until their contract expired, after 30 years. Yesterday's ceremony also included the screening of a documentary on the historic site and renovations it has undergone over the years. It also featured a photography exhibition of the pool as well as the project's blueprints. In September last year, the historic park was reopened to the public. The pool and the surrounding area were renovated and a mosque built at a cost of BD60,000. Until a decade ago, the pool was one of the most popular recreation sites in Bahrain. At present, it is open from 9am to 9pm. Paramedics, lifeguards and police patrols are available to ensure the safety of visitors. The pool will stay open for free, even after the investors take charge. The whole project was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad and is being overseen by the Northern Municipal Council and the Northern Municipality. Bahraini Spirit October 29th, 2005, 01:14 PM I know Obi you have posted this in the business section, here is the article again just to highlight when was the last time we posted here. Man this project is really delayed for a long time, now people have to wait till 2007, oh well. http://gulf-daily-news.com/source/xxviii/223/images/Lpic2.jpg WORK on the BD9.1 million Adhari amusement park is expected to begin in January, it was revealed. The park is the second phase of a project to revive the Adhari area, which hosts one of Bahrain's most renowned landmarks - Ain Adhari. The natural freshwater spring was renovated and re-opened to the public two years ago, while the new park is expected to be ready in 18 months. "Work on the park should have already begun in May, but due to electrical problems it has been delayed," said Northern Municipal Council chairman Sayed Majeed Al Sayed. "The previous amusement park, which has been closed down years ago, didn't require that much electrical work, but this new park requires a lot more electricity," he said. "The Electricity and Water Ministry will instal cables for the project and once that is completed then the building permit will be approved." Mr Al Sayed said the Northern Municipality was moving trees and replanting them elsewhere in line with the park's new design. "No trees have been thrown out and all we are doing is relocating them," he said. "We want the place to stay green, but at the same time we want it to look neat." The new park will be built on an area of 165,319 square metres and will feature a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, arcade games, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum. In September 2003, the historic park was reopened to the public. The pool and the surrounding area were renovated and a mosque built at a cost of BD60,000. Until a decade ago, the pool was one of the most popular recreation sites in Bahrain. The entire project was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad and is being overseen by the council and the Northern Municipality. Pearl of the Gulf February 17th, 2007, 07:26 AM ADHARI Park is to be turned into a tourist village, with traditional handicrafts centres and souvenir shops. The village's 20 houses are old and dilapidated and will be remodelled under the scheme, drawn up by the Northern Municipal Council. It aims to turn the village into an added attraction alongside the BD9.1 million Adhari theme park, which is reportedly nearing completion. The council also plans to allow residents to open shops and restaurants there. Area councillor Sayed Ahmed Al Alawi told the GDN that they were currently working with government organisations to ensure that the village is renovated in time for the park's opening. "The Works and Housing Ministry is currently planning to remove the traffic light near the entrance of the village, which is close to the Shaikh Aziz (green mosque) traffic light, to ensure visitors easy access to the park," he said. "They will have another traffic light at the village entrance to ensure that no-one speeds into the village, as the place is full of children playing in the street. "We are also trying to work out something with the ministry and the Information Ministry to speed up renovation work on the houses and turn them into a pleasant front for the project, rather than the appalling state they are in at the moment. "The company running the park could also give us a hand, since they want the area surrounding their project to have the best image. "The families will also be given permission to showcase traditional handicrafts and sell souvenirs, in co-ordination with the Social Development Ministry, which we are planning to co-operate with. "The Northern Municipality has been contacted to allow residents to open shops and restaurants there, considering that the place would be turned into an active tourist destination." Mr Al Alawi said the Adhari Park area used to be a popular tourist destination, but lost its appeal 15 years ago, due to government negligence. "The place now looks nice, with the revival plans of the government and hopefully promoting the place again will be successful," he said. "I have seen rides being set-up in the park, but unfortunately the company running the place is not giving us any information or keeping us updated, so most of the information about the work's progress come from newspapers." The park is part of a second phase to revive the Adhari area, which hosts one of Bahrain's most renowned landmarks - Ain Adhari. The natural freshwater spring was renovated and reopened to the public three-and-a-half years ago. The new park is built on an area measuring 165,319 sqm and features a roller-coaster, a water park, children's play areas, a mini-golf course, a bowling alley, a games arcade, family recreation facilities, a shopping mall and a children's museum. The project is being constructed by Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer) and Kuwaiti Markets and Commercial Complexes Company, which has been contracted to run the park for 30 years. Mr Al Alawi said that a lot of effort had gone into reviving the park, which is considered a national heritage. "The pool was renovated a few years ago and hopefully this new family recreational facility will be an addition to it," he said. "The new facility will provide job opportunities for 140 Bahrainis." In September 2003, the historic park was reopened to the public. The pool and the surrounding area were renovated and a mosque built at a cost of BD60,000. Until a decade ago, the pool was one of the most popular recreation sites in Bahrain.
