View Full Version : 3d model update

Hi guys. Just to keep you up to date with our little 3d model.
I added a few new buildings to the model: include Athenee Residence, CWT expansion + hotel, low rises buildings around Siam Area. Still have to add low rises around Athenee Residence, add in Baan Rajaprosong.

thanks for the advice Chad much appreciated.
The Athenee office tower is a bit taller? It's around 170m tall?
and yehh durh I totally forgot about Baan Klang Krung..
Chad
April 21st, 2005, 08:20 AM
It's actually facing the other way and a bit taller than the residential.

wow Pas so cool!! :) must be lots of work...
just one thing, the Athenee new office tower in the renderings (and also explained to me by the sales office) is perpendicular to the Athenee Residence (not parallel). Therefore, the view from Athenee Residence is only partially blocked by the narrow end of the adjacent office tower.

Sumeet, for the modeling I use AutoCAD 2002 & 3D studio Viz.
Ah don't forget Jo also made a few of those buildings .. He uses Viz and I think a program called Caligari Truespace.
I'll try to render the model in wireframe as well :)

wow, so cool Pas! Siam Paragon looks gigantic! bigger than Central World Plaza! cant wait til its finished (probably early next year right??)
your project in Perth has lots of open space in courtyard....nice...a central water fountain (with seating around it) like the piazzas in Italy (but more modern design to fit in) would be way cool too to break up the large space and provide relief on hot days :) .....
Pas
May 11th, 2005, 06:40 AM
Good idea Speed, a water feature, jet fountain will be nice!!
The project brief asked for the design of an open space for gathering / public performance which is able to be adapted for other uses too :)

This one is my favourite.
I think the hardest part is not modeling itself but collecting information on floor plans and seeing what each building looks like from different angles etc and their proportions in relation to one another. With the modeling of highrises, I've been help a lot with the info and photos that have been posted in this forum :)

Peninsular Plaza
- Maneeya Tower อยู่ติดกับ Royal Ratchadamri เลยครับ, อยู่ปลายสุดด้านในของ site ครับ

Hi Pas, I live in Hobart - that 3D model is great! I know there is a waterfront rejuvenation project being done by the council here - and there was a design competition which had over 200 entries - was this one of those entries?
Pas
January 28th, 2007, 05:26 AM
Hi Chug.. yep this project is for the Hobart Waterfront design competition. I asked my tutor's permission to submit it in as a student entry and possibly use it for my urban design master's thesis (i changed my topic / project several times already).
I spent about 2 months working on it part time as I'm also working full time. Unfortunately I didn't get the drawings sent to Hobart in time as I had to have my wisdom tooth taken out the week before it's due :bash: :(
Just had a look at all other submissions and the winning entries, they are all pretty amazing. Have you seen it? http://www.hwidc.tas.gov.au
Anyway I hope they build something really magnificent for Hobart waterfront :):okay:

Can these models be used for Google Earth?
It's a shame if not more ppl can enjoy them.
Pas
February 13th, 2008, 05:04 AM
^^^The simple answer is no. I made the model in 3D Max / Viz, so to make the model compatible with Google Earth, I have to export them to another format and need to geo-reference it (that is to give it proper GIS coordinates and all) then somehow export all the materials from 3ds Max/ Viz to Google Earth Sketchup which I've yet to learn how to do. I could probably learn how to do it quickly but I'm so busy right now working full time, a mortgage to pay and on top of that post-grad study to finish. Life's a bitch.

samples of other 3D buildings from Google Earth..
You need to install model from Google warehouse to view unless it comes by default with the version you are using (I think that's the way they set it up)
