Horrible and fucking disgusting! It's a crime against the city and the hundreds of thousands of Vancouverites who will benefit from the event. They should impale the heads of the designing team on the Burrar bridge!

Torino and Calgary were the best IMO. But Vancouver's tries to hard to represent Canada, which I don't think it does.

I like it. I'm actually glad there's no maple leaf. That would be too predictable and almost a cliche now. I think people have to remember that the logo has to work around world, not just Canada. It's about creating a 'brand' more than anything else. Something that can be easily slapped on t-shirts and mugs for the next 5 years.
My only complaint is that they didn't make the colours more vivid. They looked a bit washed out.
I think the logo will make more sense as news cameras descend upon English Bay.

I like it more than Beijing or Lake Placid, but it's an average for me.

So these are the aboriginal games, then? For the life of me I thought Vancouver was hosting the Olympics.
Why not use the image of the Rocky Mountains where the games will be held?

Its kind of insulting how much they try to please the aboriginal people in this whole process. I watched the first 10 mins of the logo ceremonies yesterday and I don't think I saw one white person. Just natives dancing. When I walk outside I do not see natives everywhere. Is this what the rest of the world is going to think Canada is? I realize its our past but its really not relevant to the present. I think their going overboard with trying to please them, how about something more local that represents the bulk of the population instead of a small minority.

It's true, why the heck didn't they use the mountains/water image for the games' logo. Or something more abstract at least. And why don't they use black as the fifth color. They use blue twice!

Here is an idea I was thinking of. It represents the city pretty well I think.

The logo is average but is nothing compared to Torino's.
I thought Vancouver could of done something cool with the mountains. :(

I should have submitted my idea for a logo. Maybe it would have been selected:

Why not use the image of the Rocky Mountains where the games will be held?
Well the games won't be held in the Rockies, as they're too far away. The games are taking place in the Coastal mountain Range.

its definitely CRUSTY!
Calgary's & Nagano's are much better in comparison. At least we can be thankful that we didn't get a Salt Lake or Lake Placid emblem.

It has good ideas, but it just looks wrong. Just do a redesign using the the same concept, and it might look nice. For example, get rid of that mouth.

What an incredibly terrible emblem. It totally lacks in style, and isn't even representative of Vancouver. Even Ocean's logo is closer than that.
I think Torrino's is the best of all the logos there. Then I would say it is a tie between Calgary's and Nagano's. (I don't see why some people don't like Calgary's. Heck, the color even matches my car!)

It's clumsy, amateurish, and not very athletic looking.
They must have wanted a total lack of professionalism.

I like it.
I think winter / the north when I see it. Looks like a person bundled up for winter - Jacques Rogge commented on it looking like a hockey goalie.
On the news the designer said that certain cliche elements were discounted from the start - that included any mountains, because Torino is using a mountain as its logo. Plus water and mountains aren't unique to either Vancouver or Canada.
I like Calgary's but I think snowflakes are a bit cliche now - even Whistler changed its logo from a snowflake made of Ws to something else.
Vancouver unveils emblem for 2010 Winter Olympics
By The Associated Press
The 2010 Olympics emblem is named Ilanaaq, the Inuit word for friend.
VANCOUVER, B.C. — Officially, the emblem for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics symbolizes hope, friendship and hospitality. Unofficially, it hints at Canada's favorite sport — hockey.
The design, representing a traditional Inuit directional landmark, or inukshuk, was unveiled Saturday in front of about 10,000 at GM Place. At first glance, it resembles a hockey goalie.
The emblem is named Ilanaaq, the Inuit word for friend. It features five stone-like formations in green, red, gold and two shades of blue.
Rivera Design Group of Vancouver submitted the design, chosen by an international judging panel from more than 1,600 entries. The design team's prizes include $25,000.
Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee, said, "I loved it immediately. I smiled when I saw it.
"It reminds me of a hockey goalie."

I quite like it. Its deffinatly a unique Winter Games logo, which is fitting for Vancouver as they will be hosting a very unique Winter Games. Being a coastal city, possibly not having any snow and spring like conditions, having the first indoor opening ceremony, being the most multicultural host city and its goes on.

Its hard to get excited about a pile of rocks.
You summed up my thoughts right there.
My sentimental fave is Calgary. Well, because of the flood of memories from those great olympics. The 2006 logo is also great.

In my opinion Nagano is the best one there, followed by Torino. I just hate Vancouvers though. Gahhh.
I saw this one on the net recently:

and IMO it is WAY better than the one they chose.

Nice and simple.
The Torino one doesn't look to bad, but it doesn't really remind me of the Olympics

I think its just fine. It's different and recognizable, but perhaps would have been more appropriate if the events were being held in Northern Canada.
But I still think it's good! Torino's as well.
