Yeah it's the most decorated but not necessarily French influenced.

The ceiling is decorated with dragons in the midst of cloud and looks somewhat surreal and mysterious. The fabric-like thing just on top of his statue is actually solid and intricately decorated. The statue itself was made in France sitting on top of Khai Dinh's actual resting place (other Emperors don't actually rest in their actual Mausoleums) in front of the ray of sunlight.

A few buildings are under renovation or already renovated. When I was there last year, the main hall behind Dien Thai Hoa has been renovated to its former glory. It was alot of red and gold.

Thai Hoa renovated long time ago, 1996-97

Hue complex hasn't changed nothing , except for the 4 corridors they build to connect the 2 buildings behind Thai Hoa together

I tell you with the money they cast taxes on Vietnamese citizens they could rebuild everything by now, but they didn't want to do that, just leave it for UNESCO to do all the work, the taxes they use for something else, more fun and entertaining like buy expensive cars, hire people to line up for the chance to buy new apartments etera ectera
