To be honest, I would really wanna have a house in Kaphalonia or Lesvos.

But, at this moment I will not buy one.

1) I have not one week for vacation for now.

2) I do not want to live with people in my vacations.

As soon as I may find vacations, I am planning to get a sailing boat.

But yes, for summer house, Cephalonia and Lesvos are the best.

Fresh and Semiramis are just my style, if you check my avatar (unfortunately, light years away from my budget). However, for the underprivileged lonely planet reporter out there, I recently stayed at a hotel that has far more class and service than the C'class facilities registered: SAMOS hotel in Vathy, Samos (not worth uploading pictures, they couldn't compare to the masterpieces in the thread) I don't know if there's another C class hotel in Greece with free wifi access to guests (and not only, I stayed there for 2 nights and I had breakfast there on my way back from Ikaria to catch the plane to Athens-the super-friendly staff let me log on again). OK, but that's techno-freak details. The rooms are all super-clean, the breakfast is splendid, there's a pool with jacuzzi (though tiny, it's useful and cute though), balconies overlooking the harbour (only 50m from the main pier), plus the bar is totally (cheap) sixties, lava lamps, orange organic-shaped barstools, pop wallpaper...(but that's all, the rest of the hotel is all very traditionally-conventional)...I paid just 48E a night in the end of July (they didn't charge for my 9-year old daughter...so I paid single room rate)
A great hotel that CAN compare to the photos in the post (way too late to figure out how to upload photos!) however is Peratzada Hotel, also in Vathy (but of Ithaca!). Brilliant, as all the other hotels in the Tsimaras Art Hotel chain (Primarolia in Patras, Emelisse in Fiskardo Kefalonia...pity the only remnant of their plans for the Patras Moreas is the faded sign on the facade...)

Thnx Southern, my father is from Arcadia (I was raised there as well), so I thought I owe some advertisement :lol:. We also happen to know several of the people mentioned above, so I recommend them if you like winter-tourism. :D


It is truly fascinating how much the hotels have improved the last years in Greece. In Switzerland, there are similar hotels but you pay them in Gold...
The funny thing is that most of the above accommodate Greek tourists rather than foreigners.

Haha nice Metroguardian...thanks for your recommendations!...as a mountaineer myself,i really like winter tourism.....the only place i've been to Arcadia so far is Vytina...i didn't stay long unfortunately..but i bought some delicious xylopittes,traxana and cheese :0:)

Hilton: Το Helona Resort στην Κω θα γίνει Hilton

Στην αλυσίδα των ξενοδοχειακών μονάδων Hilton εντάσσεται το πολυτελές ξενοδοχείο του Ομίλου LAKITIRA HOTELS, Helona Resort, και γίνεται το δεύτερο ξενοδοχείο Hilton στην Ελλάδα, μετά από αυτό της Αθήνας.

Στην αλυσίδα των ξενοδοχειακών μονάδων Hilton εντάσσεται το πολυτελές ξενοδοχείο του Ομίλου LAKITIRA HOTELS, Helona Resort, και γίνεται το δεύτερο ξενοδοχείο Hilton στην Ελλάδα, μετά από αυτό της Αθήνας.

Αυτό προβλέπει συμφωνία που υπέγραψαν στα μέσα Δεκεμβρίου του 2009 η εταιρεία AKTI HELONA SA, στην ιδιοκτησία της οποίας ανήκει το πέντε αστέρων ξενοδοχείο Helona Resort στην Κω και η Hilton Worldwide.

Επισημαίνεται ότι το Helona Resort είναι το πρώτο, και μέχρι στιγμής μοναδικό, ξενοδοχείο από όλα τα ξενοδοχεία της αλυσίδας Hilton διεθνώς που θα λειτουργήσει σε εποχική βάση, δηλαδή από το Μάιο μέχρι και τον Οκτώβριο.

To Helona Resort άρχισε τη λειτουργία του τον Ιούνιο 2009 και τον προσεχή Μάιο πρόκειται να λειτουργήσει ως Doubletree by Hilton. Διαθέτει 250 δωμάτια -από τα οποία 12 οικογενειακές σουίτες, τρεις σουίτες και τρεις βίλες- 21 συνολικά πισίνες, δύο εστιατόρια, τρία μπαρ, ένα υπερσύγχρονο κέντρο Wellness and Longevity και ένα συνεδριακό κέντρο συνολικής χωρητικότητας 700 ατόμων.

Στη Ρόδο το πρώτο Sheraton Resort hotel στη χώρα μας

TH λειτουργία του πρώτου ξενοδοχείου της αλυσίδας Sheraton στην Ελλάδα, ανακοίνωσε χθες η Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

Πρόκειται για το Sheraton Rhodes Resort, τα εγκαίνια του οποίου έχουν οριστεί για την ανοιξη του 2010.

Oπως αναφέρεται σε σχετική ανακοίνωση, η Starwood Hotels & Resorts ανοίγει το όγδοο ξενοδοχείο της στην Ελλάδα, προσθέτοντας άλλο ένα ξενοδοχείο στο χαρτοφυλάκιο βραβευμένων πολυτελών resorts της. Το ξενοδοχείο βρίσκεται στο νησί της Ρόδου, σε απόσταση λίγων χιλιομέτρων από το ιστορικό κέντρο της πόλης, ενώ το ανακαινισμένο Sheraton Rhodes Resort διαθέτει 401 δωμάτια. Η είσοδος της αλυσίδας Sheraton θα σημάνει την επέκταση της Starwood στην Ελλάδα, όπου διαχειρίζεται επτά ξενοδοχεία της Luxury Collection και ένα ξενοδοχείο Westin.

Πριν γίνει μέλος της αλυσίδας Sheraton, το resort ήταν γνωστό ως "Imperial Rhodes". Το ξενοδοχείο είναι κλειστό για τη χειμερινή περίοδο και θα ανοίξει πάλι μετά την ανακαίνισή του, ως "Sheraton Rhodes Resort", την άνοιξη του 2010. Το Sheraton Rhodes Resort θα προστεθεί στα υπόλοιπα 7 ξενοδοχεία που διαχειρίζεται η Starwood Hotels & Resorts στην Ελλάδα και τα οποία είναι: Ξενοδοχείο Μεγάλη Βρετάνια –στην Αθήνα, Blue Palace Resort & Spa– στην Ελούντα Κρήτης, Arion Resort & Spa στο Astir Palace - Αθήνα, Santa Marina Resort & Villas –στη Μύκονο, Vedema Resort και Mystique– στη Σαντορίνη, The Westin Athens Astir Palace Beach Resort, καθώς και 3 resort, που θα ανοίξουν σύντομα: το Westin resort και Luxury Collection resorts –στo Costa Navarino της Πελοποννήσου και ένα resort της W στο Astir Palace Beach.
