sorry, that's a little bit harsh,i was drunk yesterday  .
from my point of view, Chinese architecture are not just something like 四合院 or 婺源民居.Jinmao ,Taipei 101 are good examples for mordern highrise with Chinese character. In many cities, new-riches are building ugly western style residential buildings, so many and so tacky they are that you Tainwanese can't imagine

by the way do you think we should create a forum for traditional architecture?

that's a great idea, but i'm afraid few chinese people will like this forum.in their modern eyes, tradition means poor, old and backward. It's sad that few Chinese cherish the value of traditional buildings nowadays, that's the reason why i hate Mao and Deng, Mao destroyed our culture, Deng shocked our self-confidence.

I have always wondered how chinese people argue. :bash: I like your style, very well mannered and civilised.

Regarding the architecture, I understand the frustration of some of you when you say that modern style is dull when compared to classic local architecture. We have the same problem here in Italy (a country comparable to China, for its long history): 90% of buildings built after the WWII period, are horrible and have no character whatsoever. Obviously, they are more comfortable but they lack in warmth.
Anyway, please post more classic chinese (or local chinese) architecture pics on the main forum. I'm an enthusiast!

The influennce of one culture is tightly related with its political and economic power.

In Europe, Roman architecture was the dominance during the heyday of Rome empire, but it was declined after the collapse of the empire. From the 15th century, when Italy became the leader in Europe once again, the Renaissance began spreading to France, Britain and Spain so that Roman architecture was revived .

For Asian countries, the best example is that nobody cared about Japanese culture when Japan was a poor and backward country, but nowadyas many Westerners are so curious about Japanese culture.

In China ,many people have forgotten the value of their own culture. They admire Western in every respect. However, in my opinion, that won't be long.As the economy keeps increasing rapidly,China will soon be a superpower and the Chinese will find self-confidence.I believe there will be another Renaissance in the Orient in the near future, our culture will regain its position on that day.
