Very nice, everything looks great except this:
http://img244.echo.cx/img244/5940/img901417km.jpg

It reminds me of typical soviet commieblocks :(

Ohoho, this is impressive!!! I am pretty sure that Vilnius still builds lot more than Riga, although we speed up too.
Like that they take whole district and make everything - streets, pathways, buildings.

Thanks for update Geex:okay:
Vilnius is doing well, although you shouldn't build commieblocks anymore:)

Gatis
May 2nd, 2005, 03:19 PM
Regarding commieblocks - everyone builds them around the world. Can you draw clear line between commieblocks and non-commieblocks. F.e. this is commieblock? (a bit terrible project, really)
http://img244.echo.cx/img244/5940/img901417km.jpg
And this one not?

Edd
May 2nd, 2005, 03:45 PM
I don't really understand what's so terrible about it:
http://img199.echo.cx/img199/1412/imgp05850sz.jpg

That photo is taken by farbrom form http://tinkle.miestai.net
The design is nothing special, simple and borring but it isn't terrible to me.

And about amount of constructions: there is a posibility that they will slow down for a moment because its been a while since the last time when some new bigger projects were accepted. (because of those new laws, etc.) These who are u/c were approved some longer time ago.

Didn`t know that there are so much development. 2x23fl highrises project looks interesting because these skyscrapers will be practically built to empty field.

Ok. I think we will not reach page two ever. So i post remaining pictures just here.

But first of all i need advice, maybe somebody had similar situation. One of my memory cards acts really weird and i can't transfer photos to my PC. But my camera still can see all the photos just fine. I now tried everything (reinstalling software etc). Still another memory card works just fine. It isn't so big deal, i will buy another one, only i had so many photos on that card :(.

So here we go with left-overs. Another part of photos is in my broken memory card.

First of all, we will move to Zverynas district.
http://img61.echo.cx/img61/6567/1map2pv.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

And more offices. This one is kinda massive, but i can't find render anywhere :(

http://img80.echo.cx/img80/4573/img9066filtered7wo.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

You think i posted this picture, just because BCC2 is U/C here? No actually i just noticed that they fenced in some old houses in front. I hope something nice will be build here. :)

Some of the projects, such as this one (http://img244.echo.cx/img244/9739/img902911mr.jpg) are hardly masterpieces, but there's plenty of interesting ones, too.

I'm surprised by how much Vyrokas has actually improved, after the construction has resumed. There was lot of outcry over a year ago, when everyone saw that the end product didn't quite match the render.

Kudos to you, Geex. How did you manage? It must've involved lot of walking around. :)

Easily the most bizzare construction cranes ever!

Was just wondering, is there really a need for all these projects? (I've never been to the baltics)
but, what is the size of the population in vilnius..?

Almost all new flats is reserved or buyed even before they start building them.

For now 85% of new flats which will be builded only in the end of year 2006 is sold.

Need for office space also increased in past few years. They build a lot, but vacancy rate is still dropping.

And Vilnius population for now is 560 000 ;)

Indeed i was walking a lot for a few days. I don't think i will be able to do such trips for some time. ;)

BTW that project you are talking about is most hated project in Vilnius (well atleast on miestai.net forum).

And everyone thanks for comments&reply's.

They have demolished an old house for this site, but I can never guess how they succeed in selling the flats since the place is awesomely terrible :ohno:

It's a very good place actually. School/kindergarten/park is nearby. But i do agree with you, unless Vilniaus energija will move their buildings (nežinau kaip transformatorinė angliškai :)) near by. But i don't think they will.

BTW does anybody have any suggestions about my little problem with memory card?

Mantas

^^^ You can try to put the card to any laptop that has a card reader or may use an internal memory (if your cam has it) to copy and move the photos to another card.

Interesting angle, those houses looks not that bad, they could be restored.
