Are these Informations right and can you give me some informations?

Larissa: 40.000 -> after the Euro 20.000

Ok, here is the official list for the euro 2012. It contains 7 stadia.

1) OAKA 74.500

2) Karaiskaki 34.500

3) Thessaloniki-->Kaftanjoglio 40.000 ( ^ ) ( expansion )

4) Volos-->Panthessalikon 30.000 ( ^ ) ( expansion )

5) Heraklion-->Pagrition 30.000 ( ^ ) ( expansion )

6) Patra-->Panpeloponnisiako 30-40.000 ( expansion )

7) Thessaloniki-->Toumba 30.000 ( ^ ) ( expansion )

Now, is almost sure that they will add 2-3 more stadia to the list.

The candidates are:

1) A 40.000 seater stadion in 1 of the following areas-Larissa*, Kerkyra, Rodos, Ioannina, Serres.

Larissa is going to bulid a new 20-25.000 stadion. Ministry of athletism proposed to the authorities of Larissa to temporary expand it to 40k for the euro.

2) AEK 40-50.000 ( new ) *

3) Panathinaikos 45-50.000 ( new ) *


*Those new stadia are independent with the organization of the euro 2012. They are going to be bulid anyway.


p.s ) Iraklis FC is thinking to leave from the Kaftanjoglio and go to the area of Mikra ( Thessaloniki too ) and build a new 25.000 -max- seater stadion.

My thoughts:

I don't believe UEFA allows for more than 2 stadia in 1 city. So it might be a feud between Olympiakos' Karaiskaki and Panathinaikos' new stadium (40,000-45,000 capacity). Not counting out AEK if something can develope before about early June when the Hellenic FA has said it cannot devote more time to waiting for team's to agree to build new ground. So we're probably looking at OAKA and PAO's stadium in Athens.

PAOK really needs a new home. Their President back in November stated he wanted to build a 40,000 seat stadium on the site of their current home. This was not well received by the PAOK faithful and he isn't trusted very much and they were scared of having a situation like AEK has (tore down their ground and then ran into legal obstacles with building a new one). Their President claimed to have secured financial backing independent from the state to build it. Outside of Athens they are the ONLY team that is able to fill such a venue with any regularity.

I was happy to read that the city if Larissa is pushing HARD for a new home. The team (AEL) claims to have secured much of the funding for a new 20,000-25,000 ground and reports are that as for Euro 2012 it will be temporarily expanded to 30,000. AEL is one of the few clubs outside of Athens and Thessaloniki which could really fill a 20,000+ stadium. They average over 10,000 a match in their old and small Alkazar stadium and they are in the 2nd division. They have a large and fanatical following and a new ground for them would mean amazing things for Larissa and Greek football as a whole. Plus, these guys are the only club outside of Athens and Thessaloniki to win the Greek championship.....I pray they can make it work regardless of the Euro bid.

@ Prometheus, according to Orfanos ( ministry of athletism ) the stadion of AEL will be 40.000 ( if they expanded it )

Also Panathinaikos 's new stadion according to various sources will be ( hopefully ) above 45k.

As for PAO, some papers are speaking about a UEFA 5 star facility which means 50,000 at least.

I hope May 10 we will know more.

Sercan I do not believe UEFA imposes a penalty on stadiums with a track. But pure football modern stadia are sure to make a better impression on them.

Panathinaikos will definately be in this bid, either at the expense of the Karaiskaki or with it (maybe Pireas can be 'technically' a different city). The stadium will be 45,000-50,000.


PAOK should get a new stadium of some kind, anywhere from 30,000-40,000.


Larisa almost 100% will be getting a new stadium, the capacity I wonder though. I hear 40,000 being reduced after the games. We shall see.

Yep :yes: there are 2 versions, the first is for 16k and the second for 31k


The 16k is one the worst new stadion i have ever seen :bash:

On the contrary the 31k is one of the best –if not the best- for its size, he looks like a small daluz, very beautyfull :okay:
